Always loved the DS Zeldas, they're great in so many ways.... Especially in having the best companion characters EVER!!! Seriously I love Linebeck, Ciela and ST Zelda so dang much 🧡 And yeah it feels like almost no one talks about them, the only other praise I've even seen comes solely from Liam Triforce's retrospective and Chuggaaconroy's playthrough of PH
Years before I started playing Zelda I always saw the back then new games Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks in magazines. Young me thought that was what all Zelda games looked like, and I get weirdly nostalgic over these two. I love them and Windwaker for the artstyle!
You know all the recent videos are kind of reviewing all the Zelda games comparing them to each other. It's like they could be put into, uhm... Tiers of the Kingdom 😎
SPIRIT TRACKS CONTENT! I enjoy Phantom Hourglass significantly less but I don't hate it. Spirit Tracks however is my 5th favorite Zelda game and I've finished all but the Oracle games.
you won't find many ppl who like PH better than WW like you and me, just 2 things: 1) comparing the music of PH with WW is blasphemy really, as WW has probably the best soundtrack in the series. 2) i really like the dungeons and most of all the boss fights in PH. and i have to say: as much as I love PH, I absolutely loathe ST due to the endless train fetch quests and, yes, bunny catching as some bunnies are moving way too fast for the lag time of the game. then you gotta go back to a village, go back to the bunny and try again for another 10 times. The only sidequest in the series I gave up on!
I really like these games, especially spirit tracks. My biggest problem with phantom hourglass was that it's too easy. I actually like the spirit tracks train overworld better than the boat. It felt like there was more to do on the train, compared to the boat (challenges of avoiding the evil trains and catching rabbits)
yeah, there was a lot of waiting around on the boat since you didnt have to actively direct it as it moved but you're forced to pay attention because every now and then an enemy will spawn in I don't think Spirit track does significantly better in this regard, but the demon trains are WAY more engaging when they do cause a threat. I can not express how much stress those things put me through I love the ds zeldas so much
I always liked these games. They have some really memorable bits that no one ever talks about. That said, when comparing it to the rest of the Zelda games, it is a B tier in my opinion. That’s not to say it is bad. In fact, I would still consider them to be 7/10s and if a very good argument was laid out, MAYBE I could be convinced that they are 8/10s. Also, I totally agree regarding Lineback. He is a very slept on character. He was just so memorable and his theme is one of the few bangers in Phantom Hourglass. And finally, I’d have to agree regarding Wind Waker’s ost. I don’t know why everyone considers it some untouchable masterpiece. It had a few bangers, but then the rest of it was kinda meh, or just serviceable. Soundtracks like OoT’s, MM’s, TP’s, and BotW’s are the real masterpieces of the series imo
phantom hourglass is mid but spirit tracks is beyond underrated… it’s legit got the best version of zelda in the series and the music and story blows phantom hourglass out of the water in my opinion
Howdy! If youre looking for more properly orchestrated Spirit tracks songs, there's a music TH-camr I'd like to recommend called "The Noble Demon." He's done quite a few Spirit Tracks orchestrations and they sound EPIC!
Finally, a Zelda video that speaks to me more than any other could. My 2 favourite 2D Zelda games. Like u, I adore these games (especially spirit tracks), and they got me through some dark times. Definitely subscribing, keep up the good work!!

I loved Phantom Hourglass, Linebeck is among my favorite Zelda characters
I want to play them, but because of the stylus controls, I won't get them. I wish they gave the option. Great, well made video. 😀
