3D printing trouble: Is that hard to remove the prints on the build plate!? Why not try hot water?

- Get too much exposure on the initial layer and the print stick to the plate so firmly that it's hard to remove?
Try the hot water, that may help you to remove the prints, more easily but I think we should use this method cautiously if the cured resin expand or shrink when infiltration of hot water.
I had a very detailed model of the Notre Dame de Paris printed in Formlabs Black with no supports that was literally impossible for me to remove from the print bed without ruining a truly fine example of what the Form 3 is capable of. After trying everything I could think of, I stumbled by your short video. I walked into my kitchen, put about two cups of water into a small pitcher which I put in the microwave for 3 minutes, bringing it to just the beginnings of a boil, and poured it on the build plate, all around the model. After that I easily removed the model from the build plate with no damage whatsoever. Thank you for your great solution! You Rock!! -mike-
You're welcome. It's a good platform to share the experience on 3d printing and it helps people. We'd like to share and we also gets lots of different ideas and help from the community.
The "music" is super irritating, but the video was helpful
I have the exact same problem. I'm going to try this method. I use water washable resin too.
dude...i've had a print stuck to my bed for like 4 months now...a cup of boiling water was legitimately all i needed and now i'm mad i waited this long to research something so basic...literally came off about 10 seconds after i poured the water on...
Will be trying this method in a few hours. Gone through many prints, ultimately destroying them, trying to remove them from the build plate - so frustrating after so many hours of printing!
Thank you for sharing this. I ordered a blade scraper but will try this while I wait for it to get here.
I just tried this and it worked SO WELL!! Thank you!
This was VERY HELPFUL! I'm glad I experienced this with just a rook file. I pried it in half and ended up super gluing lol. I will def try boiling!
It's our pleasure. :)
One of the Best Solution thanks buddy you solved my problem , i had one object it was stuck so hard to the build plate i tried those method of adding alchol and water it did not work finally i tried your method , puff it came out easily good job mate
PHYSICS!!! Thanks for this. I'm going to try building on the plate and not use supports.
Nice. Dunking the print in warm/hot water works great for removing supports too. Alternative for removing from build plate is to put in a bag and place in the freezer, for probably as long as it take to boil a kettle. Thanks for the demo. Cheers.
Worked a treat for me also any cured resin on the build plate i let it soak in hot water for about a minute for a very clean build plate!
It works perfectly. Thank you very much!
Oh man I wish I knew this sooner just got a photon mono x last night and ended up putting a stab trying trying to get a print off. Hot water works so much beter hahah take my like and sub good sir
THANK YOU!!!!.... I started getting worried after 10 minutes of chipping away at it. After pouring the hot water it practically slid off :)
This actually worked perfectly hot water makes it easier to take off!
Thank you thank you! Thats gonna keep me from scratching my plate haha
This worked amazingly.
Great idea! I tried this and the part literally fell off the build plate. I thought I was going to have to break it off.
Works like a dream! Thank you so much for sharing!
You're welcome. It's an experience-sharing community for all the makers :)
There’s a better way without using any extra electricity. Put the build plate in the freezer for 15-25 minutes, the parts pop right off.
Yesss, thank you. Worked like a charm on my first prints today!
nice tip, but can we rlly use water on resin? (if isnt washable resin i mean)
No worry, there is no effect.
Where are you tipping that water?
Please show the whole process.
Are you dumb?
This is awesome.. works like a charm .. just my concern is, being a dentist, accuracy really matters .. so does this change the dimensions of the prints? As in my prints, given the quantity, it's difficult to avoid the hot water rolling over the entire models ..
Thanks
We get a different 3d printer named nova3d master focus more on the printing accuracy than the consumer level MSLA 3d printers. It can print any regular 3-dimensional shape with a size tolerance of +-0.02mm. and it will be much easier to remove the prints from the build plate if you use a utility knife to remove the prints from the build plate and there's no worry about the size accuracy.

The exposure time is too high on the burning layers, that is why is hard to remove the model.
Thank you
Flexible build plate......
Does a hot water deform or warp the printed model?
Don’t worry, the model will not deform in a short time.
Thanks it really works
Boiling water every time you finish a print is not a viable solution. Reduce the cure time of your initial layers, run some time tests and you’ll find a sweet spot.
@ThisIsMyTH-camName Ok, lets say you print once a day for 365 days and it takes 5 min. to boil your water, you would have used said appliance for 18H 20M now adjust for your specific usage (maybe up/maybe down). You waste time and electricity/oil/gas/propane (what ever your appliance runs on) and you waste water, do you just dump the used water down the drain along with what is left of the uncured resin? I've been printing almost daily for over 3 years and never used hot water to loosen the print from the bed, I'm not saying it won't work just that its a waste of resources. Your response to my comment tells me you are either a child who does not pay his own bills or you are ignorant in the ways of managing your time/money (don't bother responding I'm done with this). I just added my two cents because Resin printing can be an expensive hobby to start with and why throw more money away when you can learn to be better but I will give respect to Nova3d for trying to help the community.
Lol. Prick.
@@williamlecuyer2039Hi. What was your solution? I’m having the same problem. My printer is Saturn ultra 4. I reduced the bottom layer exposure time but I don’t see difference. Maybe flexible build plate?
Or you could use a tool that works effectively...a sharp spackle knife such as Elegoo provides with their printers.
Is the Stl for that print available somewhere?
Or just use a flex plate.
Just stabbed myself in the hand with the metal scrapper trying to remove a stuck print by force. Blood everywhere... Will try the hot water technique next time. Shame I don't have a kettle.
Sorry to hear that. You could also use the flexible build plate to make it easier to remove the prints.
Cool, why not try before with hot water...🙈
resolveu obrigado
It would be easier if you reduced your bottom exposure time. Just sayin.
Im going to try this in about 2 hours. For the life of me I can not get my prints off my Phrozen Sonic MIghty without destroying them.
Maybe the bottom exposure time is too long? Try flexible build plate, that may also help.
Brilliant!
Use a razor blade
