  • A quick test for the reeds. I've updated this description since I got lots of questions about the pipes in the comments below. Hope this clarifies any questions!
    1. 2. 8 Pipes up front were put together as a way to make the front more interesting to look at, and less of just a blank box :)
    2. There are 32 speaking pipes currently on the organ-- paper reed pipes. I think Aliaksei Zholner has some great tips on making reed (and flute) pipes out of paper, and I highly recommend his videos if you'd like to see the details of pipe construction. In simple terms, the pipe is made up of
    3. Paper keys are too fragile and quickly lose their structural integrity when played with force. I opted to use a keybody from a broken "mouth organ," and by simply removing the metal plate on the inside, could use its plastic keyboard as the control surface.
    4. The action of the organ is just like any other continuo style organ, and it uses a sticker action. Stickers are just extra long bbq skewers.
    5. The original chest in the organ is "keyscale," and the pipes are just tubed off from the toeboard since they are quite small.

This is mind blowing. The fact that a sound produced by paper can be so prominent and divers in range. Awesome

This was made out of paper and it sounds more like an organ than most folks' homemade organ! Others sound like flutes. But yours has an amazing sound

@@glauberyuri8159 improved melodica, a little crappier sounding since the reeds are paper. The melodica itself actually does not produce the sound; it is indeed possible to make really nice sounding pipes from paper. So the paper pipes are actually producing the sound. I will make a video showing the schematic of a paper pipe; if made properly, it sounds almost identical to the real thing.
