Incredible how after decades of development, military funding, private funding, best universities taking part in the research, we were finally able to replicate the sound of PVC pipes electronically.
Norcal Airsoft Yep, just like tuning a speaker enclosure to resonate a desired frequency. The base frequency of the note is a certain number of cycles per second (Hz), sound travels at about 1116.437 feet per second. Let's take a 300Hz tone. In one second, a single spot will have 300 cycles of high and low pressure pass by. In that same second the first cycle has travelled nearly 1116.5 feet. With maths, we find that the distance between the peaks in the soundwave is 3.7214...... feet. You have to take the diameter of the tube into account as well, but the necessary formula is a mere google search away. Getting all the proper pipe lengths packaged into a manageable form is a greater trick that getting the desired notes if you ask me. :)
You studied it basic high school physics. It's a section called "Sources of Sounds: Vibrating String and Air Columns" in the Chapter called sound...you'll find everything you need to make such a device.

Ah, the pipe guy!) has something from the White Stripes going on, if I'm not mistaken. Seven Nation Army, the one brilliantly featured in the Simpsons. Edited: a pretty decisive election has come and gone, a bloody, useless war is raging - yet here we are, tens of thousands of people in the comments - and hundreds on the street, surrounding a guy in centre of almost the largest city in the world in a weird shirt playing on something pieced together at a hardware store - and everyone's enjoying themselves. You know what? I'm gonna sleep well tonight - because I know the world's gonna be alright. Once again - peace from Latvia.

The song is Seven Nation Army ! There's tons of remixes of it if yall have a particular taste
Every person standing there watching needs to drop at least a quarter! That was good..
No this at least a 5
Too bad they're spoiled and ungrateful cheap bastards
Pepper Beckett chill the fuck out pepper

- Cool, what instrument do u play?
- Pipes.
- Ooh like bagpipes right?
- It's complicated..
Complicated yes but LEGEN...wait for it ..DARY!! This kinda talent is just epic , to take something simple and turn it into art , it's just pure awesome.
DIY pipes
Coincidentally pipes are also a tweakers go to instrument 😂

Well Its good to know when the world gets hit with a giant EMP in future and all electronics get fried we will still have electronic sounding music
Can only speak for me but in my opinion it’s the coolest music in any ways inside the TH-cam universe. Something you wouldn’t expect but brings even a smile to old people’s faces by making music which should definitely not there cup of tea…
If you like this guy you should check out Stomp. They would take every day objects and make music out of them.
It's the first time parents have been proud of their kid "hitting the pipe"
Good one 😂
To paraphrase George Orwell: "Some pipes are more equal than others". Leave a groan if you got both sides of that...
@@crustycurmudgeon2182 Was that before or after he said "4 pipes good, 2 pipes bad"?

bucket n pipe, or as weve come to call it: bnp
Exactly my thoughts.
@@leepicbaconman1553 same here I was watching his “one bucket” video
After the concert, his leg breaths a thigh of relief.
Ok
thanks for the joke dad
This guy would have been the Medieval Kings most prized subject.
Plumbing instructions not clear, ended up making epic pipe instrument.
XD
Lol
Epic comment
haha nice 😃
Good one
Kid: I wanna be a musician
Parent: you need to be a plumber
Kid: let’s compromise
Although the moon is only 1/5 the size of the earth ,it is further away. So ha ha ha
These pipes are also used as conduit for electrical conductor wiring
@@Rin-qj7zt so he could be an electrician too
Lol why the heck would a paren want their kids to be a plumber
@@BabySonicGT it’s decent job but not something you would necessarily want your kid doing unless you had a family business

ikr.. it totally sounds like 8-bit samples
It sounds like pitfall on snes soundtrack lmaaaao
Super Mario Bros didn't bring me here.
Getting recommend this 10 years later along with the "Best Drummer Ever", I think this guy needs to do a collab with the Bucket Drummer
7 years later and this shit still slaps

The most amazing thing is the magic reverb on everything. Even his leg has insane reverb. I think I'm gonna build one of these rigs now that I know how it works. It's brilliant.
As a musician of 30 years I can say this is the most impressive thing I've seen in a good while. Outstanding! Keep it up.
So incredible how it sounds like a synthesiser.
Sound waves my good fellow.
Incredible how after decades of development, military funding, private funding, best universities taking part in the research, we were finally able to replicate the sound of PVC pipes electronically.
Yeah. Check out Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" circa 1977.

Lol
im happy im not the only one whatching tis 3 months later

@@Legoshilover87 Sir I think you mean 5 years later
:-) I think he has a piece of hard plastic or something under his pants protecting his leg and creating a louder slap.
8 years later and still brilliant!
This guy and Dario Rossi together on the street would be pure fire.
truestory man
literally thought of this
💯%
i was thinking same things + add one beatboxer Dave Crowe :D
This guy and gordo drummer together will fire the street
Pipe guy is so talented he managed to fit TH-cam’s 10 minute algorithm.
One of the talents that is overlooked is the construction of this instrument. Pretty cool!
Thanks! Loved the Jack White beat! ❤. Where do you perform? ❤
Wondering how long it took to determine the right combinations of pipe configurations to achieve the desired 'notes'?
First time i ever liked trance was right here just now on Ralphs page.
There is a formula to determine the right notes with different length tubes.

Truthfully, I'm such a tinkerer that I'd literally do it 'by ear' and
trust myself to find an interesting yet non-cumbersome finished design. I
hear music in sounds all around me, and I chew gum in rhythmic
accompaniment to my walk. I'm sure a lot of musicians do these things. ; ]
The rug really ties his performance together.
Kendall Ride-A-Jetski I thought zip-ties were holding it together.
The rug abides
His Dudeness would be proud about such rug usage.
Performance is not the preferred nomenclature.. artistic preview, please.
Was thinking the same lol
Although by "Rug" I just can't help but reference that to his shirt or beard too ;-)
What instrument do you play? "Pipes." Ahh the pipe organ. "no no no, PVC pipe with flip-flops." Huh....
U mean PCV
Witazz PL no it’s pvc
This video is long overdue. and I still watch it because it's one of the best street performers and it's really epic
Wayyy more people should have been tipping! Especially those with phones recording...

Parent: Son, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Son: I wanna be a street musician and go viral on youtube
Parent: That's a pipe dream son
Son: Wait a minute... Hold my flip-flops! I'm off to the hardware store..
Oh wow , i just realized he is literally holding flip-flops😄
Yes!!!
The youtube comment meme escalated to 11 points of "actually a decent joke". Well done. Greetings from Latvia. At 3:18 the guy (which guy?
I laughed.
😂
Настоящий живой аналоговый звук!!! Тот случай, когда Korg попросил выходной, и замену пришлось искать в магазине сантехники. Bravo, Bro!!! You Super!
Whoever built that instrument knows music theory, plus acoustic/waveform engineering, plus how to workman PVC pipe. That instrument is in tune, compact, and I'd bet light as heck. The performance musicianship is great as well, but that's a whole separate thing....
He built it himself.
You really just need a tuner.... I'm in music theory, shit's not that hard.
+TJlolbagger Bet thas not easy to tune

Soooo awesome to see a fellow PVC pipe player. I'm glad you have your own channel now too. Keep up the awesome videos, man.

Yeah! That's really amazing how he get's a greater number of tones as there are tubes.

You sound very insecure and envious. The man has undeniable talent with what he does with unconventional instruments.
That irrational envy you have towards those whose work is also their passion will chip away at every vestige of humility that you have left until the only thing remaining of your person is a bitter narcissist.
