Thats what I have been using to fight tanks in long ranged maps, no laser range finder on most tanks requires me to do it and it's actually very useful even to guess shots even if you have a rangefinder and don't want to spend time checking range.
You could do this with any tank that has a low velocity shell. My buddy and i have been doing it with sturmtiger so we get a massive margin for error and funny triple kills lol

Regardless, the autoloader in Type 99 only support their version of unitary charge. Type 75 charge is manual loaded but the stowage is design to house the unitary charge only. Afaik, only japanese system that uses seperate charges are the towed and the wheeled. Can they fire using other charge? Yes, but they are not design to do so.

I just had a ruler I would put on my screen and have a calculator on hand to convert the irl cm's to ingame meters. Then I would just adjust the artillery accordingly. Usually some big HE cannon I would be lobbing.
I managed a 2.5km kill with the 2S3M once thanks to a friend of mine spotting with his drone and giving feedback on the trajectory. It was one of the best feelings I've ever had in WarThunder!
the camera on the drone shows the distance, so at least in theory you could use trigonometry to calculate the distance to the target using it, if you also looked at the distance to yourself, and you might need to account for the altitude of the drone. you could use the compass to estimate the angle between your tank and the target. the drone moving means that you have to get all the required values relatively quickly, but as long as your tank or the target don't move too much it should be doable. nevertheless the calculation would take time, unless you wrote a specific application for it, so it's way easier to just estimate the range using the map and do corrections. I would be very careful about writing any programs that do it though, since it might be against the rules and result in your account getting banned. I'm only saying that it's technically possible and you could always try calculating it yourself without any assistance to see, if it even works.
As long as that program doesn't interact with the game client at all you're fine, people in fact do this already. You could also just glue a calculator to your desk, and if you've been doing the calculations long enough you'll be able to guesstimate.
with the ZBD04A in the game now, it is possible to see an artillery duel between BMP-3/BMD-4 and ZBD04A spawn to spawn, havent got the opportunity to try it out since I matchmake with Russian main friends but it sounds very fun.
i remembered phlydaily have done this with his friends in a video about 1 year ago.they made drone flew over their head when spotted an enemy to know the distance almost exactly correct(drone shows the distance to where the cam lock on). pretty amazing job there.
When I was still at lower BR in Germany, I always use the Pz. IV C as an arty...Without the drone or range finder, I just assume and adjust the elevation manually until it gets closer and closer to a distant target, and it was fun and requires more ammo in the rack ngl.
It's a lot of fun, I've been doing this for a while using my AVRE, direct line of sight. Furthest kill I have I actually got recorded, it's from our spawn to just outside of the enemy spawn, at max gun elevation and using a hill for extra elevation

you can laugh but i used a rule to calculate the distance faster, the grid square on my screen has exactly 1cm with that i use the rule to determinate the distance within the target, adjust on sight then pull the trigger, it works most of the times and if it fail you have to do very small adjustments
just imagine if they added a range above the markers, no need to calculate each shot as it tells you right there on the screen how far away you are from the marker

this same exact thing can be done in rising storm 2 vietnam where you can set your own markers on map of common spots or when commander abilities are used to show enemy location and align it with your compass using a mortar. racked up 50 kills in a game i normally get 20
If you are unusual guessing correct distance on your target, calculating using the grids should be a basic knowledge for ground players. Just mark your target using your squad mark for precise location then calculate
I believed someone develop an quick estimste version of this grid method. Get note card or some paper card, create strips of 1 by 15 square for every square size. Of course this need to calibrate to your specific display and UI size. Draw tick mark, like 1km bar, with 250m for long tick interval, with 50m short tick interval, then 3 dot between short tick. Adjust the number and tick type to whatever fit your style the best. This way you can get to 10m error within 2 seconds.
Pro tip: if you use commander view you can see where the drone is looking at. It is very hard to see: a small black square, but the drone ping will point you at the right direction from there just use the commander view and dont have to use the ping again.
If you see a drone in the distance and are getting blown up from nowhere its best to take cover from the drone, it worked for me but most of the time you wont see it

In the setting you can change your scroll wheel to be sight distance so it’s centred no matter what range
SPG's in real life have 2 sights, an indirect fire sight and direct fire sight. The only one we get to use in warthunder is the direct fire sight.

It would be possible if we had options to use half or even quarter charges to achieve a similar projectile arc.
