I would love it if you did another one of this with other chinese recipes. I think for a lot of us one of the main ways we preserve and hang on to our culture is through food, and I'd love it if you continued making these videos!

THIS is what i needed in my life as I'm hitting mid to late 20s, and I really wanna not lose my Chinese heritage/culture and I want to pass on to any younger generations (if I ever have kids) the classic cantonese dishes I grew up with. Like - STEAMED FISH. Nobody really taught me how to make that. Or like, how much more water I needed for congee. Or fried bread sticks. Or from scratch dumplings! Please do more of these videos!!

  • @sannx2

Please make more of these! My Chinese is so bad that I don’t remember what dishes are called but I can recognize them. Also, saying what they are in canto is so helpful too!

Ever since I moved out, I’ve been feeling homesick and disconnected from my heritage having not learned any of my family’s recipes! So this is inspiring me to learn some more about Chinese cuisine and incorporate them into my everyday life. Thanks for the great video!

Just a small tip: The ginger slices are actually used to make the fish less fishy so they should be steamed with the fish, they kind of lose the function if you put after steaming (except you love eating ginger :) )

Even though I am Mexican-American, I relate a lot to your videos and love trying new food/recipes because of you! I was really curious about bitter melon when I saw you eat it in the vlog where your grandma made it for you with eggs. So I went to 99 Ranch and bought some...GURRL LET ME TELL YOU BITTER MELON & EGGS FOR BREAKFAST IS THE BEST! I am really glad I got out of my comfort zone and tired it. I cannot wait to cook these recipes! Keep sharing more about your culture/cuisine!

My mom washes the fish and puts the ginger/green onion on top and throws it onto the steamer. After its cooked, she puts the soy sauce and then its ready to eat.
