This is phenomenal I love it. My woodworking skills are non existent but I might have a go with a wall shelf and just add the door/desk. Thank you for sharing

This is the coolest Desk Hack I have seen in a long time - I hope you don't mind but I am going to steal a couple of your ideas = Storage idea I have been working on for a while with Ikea cabinets..... Cheers my friend.

You are so talented! I had a hard time understanding your narration over the music, would you mind adding the measurements to your description?

      Length 52”
      Height 25”
      Width 8”
But it really depends on the space you got. You can always customize the size. You can make it compact or a little bigger for more storage.

It’s brilliant. I would love a version with sit-stand functionality - ie ability adjust height of keyboard and screen. I could imagine wall-mounting a screen to an articulated arm, but this would cause complications.
By the way, do the shelf inserts and backboard provide an important rigidity function? Ie Could you get away with just the top, bottom and side panels as a box frame?

@@IAmRobertAndrews Thank you! You could get away with just a frame-box design if the structure is not big in dimensions. In case if the structure is bigger, but you wouldn’t want any shelving inside there, i would suggest adding solid backing to it(maybe plywood sheet, to keep your build more rigid).

Very nice. How secure is the desk when unfolded? Is there any spring?

    • @modernartofwoodwork2273

The folding hinges are made to hold the desk. it stays down pretty well as long as you don't put a lot of weight on it. Later I added a little shelf on the wall where the drop down desk can rest(just for better stability)

L shape brackets. Attached them on the inside of the top and bottom boards and screwed to the wall.

It holds pretty good as is but for better stability you can use a stand to lean on

Did you mount it using screws on the wall? You did not show that part.
Can you please let me know about it.

I just used regular 3 inch screws, found studs behind the sheetrock and screwed them into a holding plank on the back of the desk
