I bought dark souls 2 about a week after it came out ony ps3. It was my first souls game and as a 15 year old it changed my life. I played over 1000 hours of just vanilla PVP. Now my little brother is starting to play all the souls games and dark souls 2 is the last one. My ps5 has it downloaded and when he plays I'm constantly talking about the changes and how cool the different versions are. I replay atleast twice a year now. Dark souls 2 will always mean the most to me other than bloodborne. It's the most replayable and the only souls game where I have a blast doing a hex run. Right now doing a strength faith build. Power stancing 2 lightning infused greatswords with the unique invader armors.
@@yurtthesilentgod1225 Funnily enough I played DS2 when I was 15 too! I started the Souls series only because DS1 was 75% off on Steam, and I loved it way more than I expected to - now I’ve played through all three and this is one of the greatest video game series I’ve had the pleasure of playing. I’m trying to complete my collection and get a copy of Dark Souls 1 PTDE, but that’s proving easier said than done…
Thank you, I was searching for a video like this
It's noteworthy that in Vanilla this particular Heide Knight was guranteed to drop the Heide Knight Sword. This weapon is frustratingly rare in Scholar.
In my opinion a much better and more interesting reward than a few extra souls from a repeat enemy you already know from the starting area.
I don't remember if the balance is different in vanilla but to be completely fair those swords are kinda trash in scholar, even if you go for faith. I see em drop often because I farm the knights for how satisfying it is to parry them and I feel like I keep finding fool's gold
@@Winter_Lantern It's not something you want to carry to the end of the game but much like the fire longsword it is fairly decent at the start of the game. It also has a rather unique moveset and is fun for an early dual wield build with it's low stat requirements.
Maybe I got unlucky but the last time I played Scholar I cleared all the sword knights in the area and had to join the champion covenant to get it. The whack mechanic of worse drop rate on repeat kills of enemies probably doesn't help either.
It just felt like a cool reward. Same with the guaranteed spear drop from the Heide Knight in Lost Bastille.
If you power stance them, imbue them with lightning, lightning clutch ring, ring of blades +2, and you can get around 700 damage each sword, that’s before buffs, I beat the game with them before, granted I have like 70 faith and int
lol apparently the Bandi Namco vs Namco Bandi change was made after Dark Souls 2 came out in 2014
pretty informative video
Really interesting, even breakdown
differents i heard so far scholar has way more ads in the areas than ds2 and that there are random stones statues that ds2 didnt have like in the tutorial
scholar is just better ( my first experience with ds2 was vanilla )
Scholar was like a whole new game, big time.
I have the vanilla on steam but i think ill crack the softfs version
@@h0llyn1gga Don’t, wait for a Steam sale and buy the upgrade version of Scholar, which is cheaper if you already own vanilla DS2. That way you’ll get online play and Steam achievements, and be free of the guilt of pirating the game :)
Scholar sucks, random statues blocking my path, and now I have to back track through 200 enemies while my health is halved just to get an item that's not sold, constant gank fights, a whole stat dedicated to surviving a roll? Like, come on, scholar made very unnecessary changes and made me hate ds2
Vanilla DS2 also had you loose health on death and ADP, scholar was really only a change to the placement of enemies and items and a small lightning/graphics upgrade.
I have both. Sins of the First Scholar is the definitive edition of Dark Souls. It is THE Souls game and the only one that should ever be played.
Scholar sucks
Waaaawaaaawaaaa. Cope
How am I coping?
Nah OP is a real one for siding with vanilla. It's a very well paced game and also my first entry on ps3. I'm still in the middle of my new gen sotfs playthrough on PC and the most notable thing is that there're ganks everywhere. I'm more careful where I have to go instead of running like a madman. Level/Route progression is a bit different in sotfs so I'm gonna need to adjust to that. Thankfully videos like this exist for a reason.
No, vanilla sucks
Shit enemy placement, the reuse of the persuer, the fact you can’t farm twinkling tits by the giant tree, too much invaders, yea it sucks
Trash game
@@grigmcr then why’d you come to a video about it?
@ I just wanted to see the version comparisons. The update is even worse
