Thanks for sharing. I recently got a HVLP system and been watching these 3M systems. I love all SurfPrep products in the background. Good sander and fairly local to me here in SoCal
Wasn't sure if I would be able to use the gun upside down with PPS in a bottom feed setup. Your video is the only one I've found to answer all my questions. Thanks!!!
You’re welcome! Glad to hear it’s helped folks. I was the same, new to spraying and never heard of the PPS until a friend showed me and then talking to the guys from Apollo about it I knew I needed it, but couldn’t get a good video sharing all it does and how, so I made one myself to help folks like me… new at this. So thanks for commenting and letting me know it served the purpose I had making it 👍
Just ordered the s18 adaptor/ 3m pps for my Apollo gun. Looking forward to using it with the turbine. Have used the pps system prior with air compressor guns, but only had metal cups for the turbine.
Dude right on man finally someone with a pps setup for a turbine gun! 😎👍 i was going to make this video also but ya Just got my order today actually, the exactly everything you went over here except i got the 22 oz liners but im using the graco edge 2 plus gun! Mines a little different for u have to get the other adapter threadings that comes with the over the top cup/gravity feed kit in case anyone is wondering the s18 will fit that fitting not the flexliner fitting that comes with the gun! 👍 i may just make a video also but right on man appreciate the video! 😎🤘
Great video. The second door you sprayed looked to have heavy texture (orange peel) was that intentional? That paint looked pretty thick, what size tip did you use.
That’s Wise Owl Paint One Hour Enamel, and it looks like that right after spraying but self levels to a beautiful flat smooth finish. And I’m fairly new to spraying and just as surprised to see where it started right after spraying to where it ended after it level out and dried. That’s sprayed right out of the can and is perfect viscosity for spraying with this sprayer to get that flat/smooth end result. You can find the final pictures on my Facebook page to see really great close ups of the final finish. The paint has a built in top coat so it was spraying this and done. So what you see in the final pics is what you see me spraying in the video 👍 As far as the needle and top goes… this is where my being new might make it hard to answer, I believe the Stingray Sprayer comes with a #2 set of needle and tip, which I can’t remember what that means for specific size. It’s an Apollo Sprayer and gun made by them for Wise Owl Paint. More info then you wanted likely but wanted to explain a bit and understanding I’m fairly new and sharing my experience spraying from that perspective to help others learn and try.
@@RefurbishedGentlemanTelevision I'm used to spraying automotive finishes and what you see is what you get. I used a Fuji turbine and their tips are in mm 1.4 is the most common. Bigger tip makes for bigger droplets. I'm like you pretty new to painting. But it is fun. After each project I make my wudda cudda shudda list for the next one. Thanks for the video and best of luck.
The pressure tube can be cut to a reasonable length, instead of trying to wrap it around the gun/cup to keep it out of your way. It is also available online in 2ft length, part# 16123
I seem to have flow problems with this system. I haven’t had good luck. I’ve only tried spraying conversion varnish with mine. It’s not my needle or air cap because when i switch to my normal bottom feed container i have no issues.
No… I ensure the adjustment knob is closed all the way, to stop air from getting in and I’m good to go. Now this is ONLY if I plan to do a second coat the same day… anything overnight the gun gets cleaned 👍
I not sure 3M meant for the paint to be stored in just the liner and lid with a plug. They even say in their training videos that sometimes the lid and liner may not seal ("fuse") together and could leak. Especially once removed from the outer cup. Myself, if I don't have a 2nd H/O cup to use for another project is to try to cleanly move the used liner (with material I'm trying to save inside) and lid back into a non-H/O cup and reapply the small black retaining ring, screw it down, then turn it back over upside down on to the rubber stopper plug (in order to keep the strainer mesh wet and avoid drying clumps coming off the strainer). The benefit of this is then being able to use the "shaker core" (#26458) to provide a wider, more solid base to stand the used liner/lid upside down on, instead of just the plug.
Mark to let you know the link you provide for the H/O Pressure cup on Amazon. -; I ordered this product twice and both times it came with no tubing even though it states it comes with tubing. So long story short I would be cautious of ordering from this site. I am having to send both of my cups back to Amazon. $80 for a cup only kind of crazy. I called Apollo to see if they could provide one. Shes looking into it. Did yours come with the tubing? Just curious.

Just got the 2.0. Thank you for a “first time try” video. It’s great to see someone in real time.

Awesome! Thanks for your video.
Brilliant informative vid..thanks!
Thank you. How do you clean the gun? Do you need a new clean liner and the hard cup to spray water?

The tubing you have is already attached to your cup plus its way longer than what is on the original system. Do we need to purchase extra tubing?
The tubing with the PPS came with the H/O cup 👍

Hey man, are you cleaning the gun in between coats?

Copy that… and yes, mine came with tubing.
What’s the difference between the plastic and metal containers
The hard cup that comes with the liners and lids is meant to be used for measuring/mixing/thinning your paint
