We fought two wars so this country would not be under the reign of a monarch and that its government has Separation of Powers and that it has a codified constitution. Watching a television segment about a monarch does not deter us from those things. You've also forgotten that the United Kingdom has been our ally in two wars in the last century.
I always thought that the Royal family was such a waste of tax payers dollars...these people have lived luxurious lifestyles for hundreds of years from the sweat of there loyal subjects....what a sin and a shame for these people to live the way they do...and nowadays they are just a tabloid afterthought....

No one is romanticizing colonization. Monarchy as an institution is not synonymous with colonization. Technically, Britain colonized more under a democratically elected Parliament rather than by the hand of its Monarchs. She & the Monarchy has done more for the world & “democracy” than most all of us ever will.
I can't remember a time when she wasn't Queen and I'm 70 years old.
