I'm 24, just got a marauder as my first bike. 2001 with only 8k miles, only thing I need to fix is the fork seals. I know you won't see this, but you're a life saver🙏🏾
Same, picked up my first bike about 2 months ago now, 97 marauder has been rebuilding it, bought it for 500 without carbs 10k original miles match the title, got it to finally fire and run, took it out it rides like it hasn't been sitting. Replaced the master cylinder last night, I just have some gaskets forks seals and I'm missing one of the body covers, but aside from that she's starting to look sharp the more time I put into her. Just gotta clean up a little bit of rust it has worked up from the years. I'm 32 never owned a bike before, but I've had a ton of cars so this has been a fun learning experience and much cheaper than rebuilding a car.
ha! bought mine new in 97 .still has original seal in 2023. bit it's time to replace. i put a belt drive on it too. go to thumbnail or search " 800 marauder belt drive". original paint too. runs like a dream.
It is the same... It rides great with the new fork oil... I not sure if my oil was so old and broken down that made it ride so differently but it was a totally different feel and ride...for the better
I used this video to walk me through replacing the seals on my marauder after I payed a mechanic $300 to put the wrong size seals in and tell me my forks were bad, I wish I found it earlier
I use emery cloth to clean the rust. I also use brake kleen in the cylinders to clean any debris out of it. As for little girl distractions, one day you will miss them and wish they still existed.
Hey, How does it ride? I changed my fork oil, Suzuki gave me 7W, now it rides terribly. I was thinking i needed to go lighter, but you said you are running 15W. I know the book says "fork oil #15" I wasn't sure if that was the same as 15W. If it rides well with 15W maybe i will try that next.
Very well done video and perfect for the guy who just bought his first marauder 10 years later. Made it smooth sailing!

thank you , i changed my seals yesterday and Your video was really supportive
feels good to get rid of the black dots on my leg :-D
Thank you very much, from Russian Biker with great respect! Derperado 400X 1996!
You stated 800ml for both or each one. Because I read the service manual and it stated 490ml per tube with L01 oil. Page 298 in the service manual
Is the service manual available online?
That might be for the later non-Marauder VZ800. 1997-2004 VZ800 Marauder service manual states 838ml fork oil each leg.
Really useful guide but on my bike the lock nut was 33 cm not 22, and I pushed the new seals in with the ones I extracted. Really thanks

i normally loosen the pinch bolts first as the top yoke can be crushing the fork cap
I have same bike an 04. I really need to do the forks. Thanks for the video dude

Can you put up a video on how you built your center stand?

The link to the service manual (in the description) in no good, got an updated link by chance?
