@@nullpointer242 if you are a beginner the z2 is fine. in this price range the only other option is the mixars duo which is basically a clone for serato dj
I own this tank since 2014. i scratch with it and use it nearly everyday. I upgraded it with an innofader pnp 2 and yeah guys its a beast. Never had any problems with this mixer. I love it!!!
and congrats to ean, to team up with riche and loco!!! those are really top top top djs for me! richie is no doubt my fav anyway... was a big suprise to see that ean would tour with them...
i'm super excited....just ordered a pair of stanton str8 150's and the z2 mixer. just informed my order has shipped...yay ! been doin' my thing with my ns7...which i still love..but it will now take a back seat to them stantons and the z2.
Definitely agree. Having been in the scene since 1990, 4-on-the-floor beats are in my heart and I can't stand what dubstep and pop media have done to the music. Everything goes through cycles though so as has been before, this phase will come and go. The true heads and supporters will stick around and continue to support the scene and music long after the trendies are gone.
The tables are 1200s mk2s , yes you can use the z2 WITHOUT Traktor , yes you can plug in an x1 f1 maschine whatever you want at the same time the z2 is running ...& yes you can use any cd decks or turntables with the z2.
Dear Hater, if you don't agree with what tech tools is doing, why subscribe? The man was able to forge a great business for himself and all you can do is hate. There are a lot things on this site that aren't for me. I just move on to the next thing. I've been a DJ since 1972 and am always looking to learn. If what they're doing on here don't apply, let it fly
I'm a laptop dj but I don't use the sync button, thank you very much. I hate how people just assume that laptop or vdj users use sync and that's it. It gets quite annoying. I know a fair few others that don't use it either. We actually all just covered it up or mapped it to something else.
I totally agree with you nick, thinking real hard about getting rid of S4 for this baby and throw an F1 in to the mix to !!! 4 channels would be the icing on the cake.
From the website DJTechtools which Ean Golden Owns. The faders and knobs are called "Chroma Caps" and can be found in the DJTechtools Store! Hope that helps!
He is just using 2 Traktor Timecoded vinyl records which connect directly to the mixer (i think, because i have never seen this mixer in person, but he says it's a soundcard also) .. but you can just buy a Traktor Sound Card (Audio 2,4,6,8 or 10). You connect your Decks to the external sound card and then with the time coded vinyl your mp3's will (by way of some Magic Fairy Dust) play on your vinyl (you need the Traktor software of course whihc usually comes with the sound card.. :)
some of the controls on the mixer are MIDI assignable so you could tailor them to meet your needs but since there aren't many knobs/buttons, you'll be limited by what you can do with just the mixer.
Wow, its exciting to see a mixer like this, especially with innofader crossfaders. I have an innofader in my mixer and I love it. I just wish they would come up with a solution to the usb 2.0 problem with the new macbook pros not having usb2.0 and all the native instruments products requiring it. It seems that the macbook pro is an excellent laptop for traktor, so its unfortunate that the 2 don't work together very well with the new macbooks. Thanks
You could run it either way, as a dedicated Digital Mixer running through your PC or Mac (with or without Turntables or CDJs) or you could run it with Turntables or CDJs without a Computer in a fully analogue setup.
Timecoded CDs and Vinyls are included, the Hardware to play them is not, so you would need a pair of turntables or CDJs for manual operation if you didnt want to utilise the Traktor softwares dedicated onboard mixing platform on its own.
DJM800, DJM900, DJM1000, Xone mixers etc.. the Z2 seems more like a personal mixer as part of a self contained rig but like I said it isn't going to replace the mixers that most clubs use - still good for home and professional use though
Liking the Flux mode effect on the loop, not sure about the macro FX yet though, unless you can configure your own combinations - that would be sweet. Dependent on price, I could go for this.
yeah I hadn't actually checked it out yet. I'm looking around the NI site to see how current Traktor 2.5 people can upgrade without buying the Z2 but nothing so far. I'm itching to get at those Macro FX
Who else wants to see a Z4 ???? I know I do !! Seriously guys this looks shit hot, and I'm gonna ditch my S4 for this... But I could do with 2 extra channels without having to press a shift function key... #justsaying
Sync does not automatically mean that when you mix the the next song in that it is going to sound good. Hipsters will criticize just about anyone for using just about anything, and in reality they cover up their transitions with the overuse of effects etc. It dosent matter what you use as long as it sounds good, and isnt a ripped mix lol
No, im not confusing it with usb 3.0. The recent models are usb 3.0. They are supposed to be "backwards compatible" but I have read that Native Instruments hardware does not work properly with those "backwards compatible" ports. I think it may be a driver issue, but I'm not sure. It seems that it is a problem to be resolved on Native Instruments' end. I don't own one, so I couldn't tell you for sure, but I have read about it in NI forums and there have definitely been some issues.
WHY no 4 channels on the mixer? I understand the 2+2 concept but I have been hoping and praying N.I. would release a 4-channel version. Maybe a Z4 is in the works?
It is compared to any other scratch mixer. Maybe you should go take a look at how much a Rane/Pioneer mixer costs. That's not even including the fact that you would need an A6 or A10 as well if you wanted to use Traktor.
I would agree with ya, can't say that using traktor is for amatuer i think ppl using usb sticks is i have my whole music in the last 6yrs all in key i can search for any track, i learnt on vinyl 8 yrs ago and gone with the times laptop with serato (vinyl) then ableton and traktor as think it suits more what i want to do, firing sample's like in ableton mixing, i'm learning to scratch so as long as you do more with ya time then happy days, just think every setup suits ppl's needs differently
this mixer has been out for 8 years and it's still amazin
You consider this already a good current mixer?
@@FilippoMidali What would be a better mixer ? I am considering to buy one in the next days :-)
the mixer is great but traktor isnt anymore. every other software is so far ahead of traktor...
@@Padbangers Can you recommend me one ??

This is the best Native Instruments Mixer. I dont think they know that.

Just had a real good go of this thing at the BPM show in the UK and it rocks, it's an insanely good mixer for the price!!!
ok this is a must, probably the best thing NI ever made!

My Z2 is arriving tomorrow. This is a great tutorial.
I WANT THAT mix of Flowers and Sea Creatures -The Sitting Room SO BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes check out the record functions in the options. You can set it up to the soundcard on the mixer if it has a built in one as well.
Your haircut is awesome!!

the NASL soundguy is everywhere.
Great video.
Just got one used and it’s the truth truth 😎😎😎

like the effects at 3:50 in the video lots of good infon here!

you can adjust it in the software in the options panel. :)

OH MY GOD FLUX MODE IS AMAZING
the macros are like the color fx on pioneer mixers if you think about it
I think I will go with the Z2 over the S5 for my portable/backup mixer to the S8 which I love but is too big to take on the plane! Great review!

Man I', surprised you looking clean up Ean, compared to previous videos.
Fluxmode for the win!!!
I have the feeling they're gonna release a Z4 with not 2 but 4 channels! And it's gonna be "groundbreaking"! *Sarcasm*

excellent matériel de pro
you should put the names of the songs that you use in the description, i know that you guys do most of the time
It's the timecode vinyl that he is using to control Traktor. It says that on the vinyl, not the turntable, because that is who makes it.
I FUCKING LOVE YOU FOR MAKING THIS YOUR A GEM
Yep, seems like it. Currently only CDJ 900s and CDJ 2000 NX have it.

You guys need to make the fader knobs plastic. It's hard to do scratch with the rubber coating.
best review
make a Z4!!!!! 4 decks would be incredible

Is anybody can tell me that Traktor Z2 is still worth to buy? I think about new one.
I don't know, I'm going to buy one too, but second-hand. You can always sell at the same price and it is one more experience! hhh
It is. Currently available for about 480 € new
super handy, super...
Oh, righty then. Thanks, fellow.
