My father is Basque (France) and came here as an embryo, and my mum is from Spain (Catalan) but came here via Honduras. Should Trump loose, there will be a time, when the Republicans loose any interest in Trump. He might go to prison and neither of them has a problem with this - as soon as he does not offer them sanytrhing more. Then the public mood will shift notably. Many Republicans will go on distance, more and more. They even might concede, that they fell for someone not worth it.
Yet JD might never b able to excuse himself for having been misled by whatever. Because we allready all know, that he had seen through Trump and had despised him from minute 1. I’m a fiscal moderate with no kids or cats for that matter. I have absolutely no problem with my tax dollars paying for free lunches. Even families with means have a lot on their plate ( pun intended). If parents can worry about one less thing that’s great. I often hear “ why should I pay for lazy parents!” My response is “ well most of them aren’t lazy and work very hard. However let’s just say that some are lazy. Does that mean we should blame their kids for that?” I’ve also heard the “ great idea” that the kids could “work off” the lunch debt by being custodians 🤦.

They use as much language as possible as carefully as they can to say as little of substance as possible to avoid concrete & specific statements. That let's them say things like "That's not what I said/meant/intended" etc. Her answers are masks for the truth: non-committal, as in hostage video statements.
And the public is fully aware of their tactics. At least more people are aware.

He clearly spoke about his privileges having a fertile traditional wife, who is willing to do two jobs, one on the job and one after work, while the employer gives daycare. They don't know what the real middle class or lower class go through. Furthermore, his privilege of having children is being used to rake those without children over the coals, including those who are infertile or chose to not have children, or those who have more complexities to have children, being from LGTBTQ2S communities, and as if they are not going to make good leaders or politician and as if they are not worthy. All from a bad place and highly conservative thinking and it defends their anti-abortion agenda, as if having children should be everyone's agenda.
