Nice comment. Sorry about the “unclassy” comment above. KU has foolishly spent a few hundred million dollars on football. What for? Did we honestly think we were going to eventually be the next Alabama or Georgia? Or did we spent a ridiculous amount of money just so we could be ranked OCCASIONALLY in the Top 25? My brother played football at KU 1960-1965. My nephew played at K State 1988-1992. My brother then was a successful high school football coach. He liked Lance’s hire, because he was always up on football coaches and programs. The main thing Snyder did was get better players to start coming to K State. I can go into how he handled my nephew but not now. Before anyone brings up Leipold’s not even above .500, remember, in the whole history of KU football, they are only .467 in the win/loss ratio, and that is even when they had all Americans such as Gale Sayers, John Hadl, and Curtis McClinton. And I reviewed Snyder’s first 100 wins…and they were “who are those teams?”.
Well, gee, Snyder never played for a national championship but one of his staff left for OU and won a national championship almost immediately. Oh. Well.
This version of Kansas is way better than the dark days of the Gill/Weis/Beaty regimes of the 2010s and going back a bit the post Glen Mason days of the late 90s (they were quite bad but not 2010s bad). Hopefully they make it to a bowl game.
Oh, come on! 5 years ago, KU was losing all of these games by 50, and the season was over after your second-week win (or loss) to whatever FCS school you were playing. Successful football programs don't happen over night. You're not going to go 10-2 or 9-3 every year at Kansas. (or KState for that matter) At least, you are putting a competitive team on the field now.
Years ago a Jayhawk donor said KU still owed millions of dollars to all the ‘former’ coaches they’d fired. I’m sure they’re not the only college with huge obligations to former coaches.
Yes, this year so far has been disappointing for Kansas, but considering how bad they were before the last couple of seasons, I wouldn't call it a failure or act like they're going back to the dark ages quite yet because remember it wasn't that long ago. A one and three start wouldn't have been that bad for Kansas lol and as a Nebraska fan, the panic here after we lost one game after starting 3 and 0 is also laughably hilarious. We're having the best season we've had in 7-8 years and people are acting like the whole thing's falling apart and it's the Scott Frost era again because we lost one game to a closely comparably ranked team lol
As a diehard Kansas graduate and Kansas basketball fan, I say……SPEND MILLIONS ON BASKETBALL NOT FOOTBALL. Basketball is our brand. USA Today once said, “Kansas has the greatest basketball tradition in the country.” We are James Naismith’s program. Phog Allen almost single-handedly made basketball an Olympic sport starting at the 1936 Berlin Games. Modern basketball was basically created by Phog Allen. As President of the NABC, Phog created the NCAA Tournament. It was two Jayhawks who created the powerhouse programs at Kentucky and North Carolina (Rupp and Dean Smith). UConn almost soley focuses on basketball. That’s what we need to do before it’s too late. Furthermore, major college basketball started at the University of Kansas in 1898 by James Naismith who spent 41 years employed by KU. He is buried in Lawrence, Kansas too.
I wouldn't be too quick to call Kansas a failure this year. While they are 1-3, they were extremely competitive. They could be bowl eligible this year if they fix their issues. While making a small bowl game seems like a let down, it's a let down due to higher expectations. Getting Kansas to this point is honestly impressive
Grimes double speak... everybody including Grimes was saying this after our first loss, now we are 1-3 and people are still not holding Lance accountable for not firing Grines and benching our fraud QB. Internally the players stopped drinking this kool aid months ago.... Will be interesting how Lance rebuilds the culture again.
What is obnoxious about this is that KU is not fallen. This is completely false. They are down compared to the previous couple of years, but they are in a battle period to develop the team to legit competitive levels. This is not a surprise struggle. It is a disappointment compared to hopes, but it's not really fair to say expectations were higher. They were, but expectations should not be at a level where this video gets made. No. That's not realistic expectations. I would take this in stride...this isn't the year. The program isn't there. It needs to make progress. It's as simple as that. At no point has KU been a conference contender the past decade. Not since a short stint with the fat man, and there was a noteworthy shortcoming against Missouri then. Legit contender status has not been achieved on the upside of the current coaching run. There has been improvement overall, and challenging good teams has happened, and beating some. But at the end of an upside year, actually coming down to the end as a contender is not the case. So, that there would be a down year like this is not desirable, but not all that disruptive if you realize it isn't really that much of a surprise. Reset thinking, keep developing. Keep recruiting as effectively as possible, and get to work. It's still an uphill battle. The occasional big win or big year isn't enough progress...not stable and consistent enough. Delusion isn't beneficial. KU isn't at a level to put a video like this together.
We need defense, too. We score but can’t keep the lead. Let’s remember…Mangino had an overall record of 50-48. And during their entire existence as a football team, they are only 470 overall.

Good thing they have a decent basketball program😅 Hey Scott I was inspired to re-edit one of your previous videos and sent it over in an email. Would love to hear what you think when you get a chance! Keep up the awesome work!
Kansas has 3 losses to teams who are a combined 9-2 (two undefeated) and one currently ranked, all by 6 or less points. Calling this a downfall already so so dumb.
My opinion, Leipold is not the guy. His success came from their OC, who is gone. Then, Daniel's is overrated and he's sat out an entire year with injuries. He hasn't played in two years and is not ready for this season. They can't play a sustained 60 minutes of ball. The new OC is lame and predictable. They refuse to adapt from their planned strategy when the game is underway. This is bad coaching and execution.
I honestly think that this program still needs a lot of work after a decade of losing constantly I don’t think Lepold is a bad coach and the OC isn’t helping anything but it feels like there is still the stench of losing all these years.
Not really tho 😂 the old Kansas loses the first game they won and they would have been ran out the stadium by the others but played them close you're just a hater dear God 😂😂
I really like Lance Leipold so I’m hoping they can have a resurgence this year. He brought Kansas up and out of the mud but it’s still a developmental program. Down years happen at schools like that.
Yea problem is they have 30 seniors and all their playmakers have 3+ years of starting experience. I think everyone expected next year to be a down year but this is truly sad.
@@ramaswamyadisesh6848 yea what the hell man? They are just collapsing this year and it’s so confusing because they’ve been so solid under Lance recently
KU football has a long history of severely downgrading after each successful (by KU standards) season. Some of the highlights include... - Going 9-2, winning the Big 8 (KU's most recent conference title in football) and coming up 1 point short of upsetting undefeated Penn St. (the same school that just stole KU's OC last offseason) in the Orange Bowl in 1968, only to go 1-9 in 1969, with that whole season looking eerily similar to this one so far, as 4 of KU's losses were agonizingly close and the rest were much less lopsided than one would expect from a team that finished 1-9. - Going 8-4 (their best season after 1968 and before 1992) in 1981, then stumbling to a 2-7-2 record in 1982. - Going 8-4 again, winning a bowl game for the first time since 1961, and finishing in the Top 25 in 1992, then dropping to 5-7 in 1993. - Finishing 10-2, winning another bowl game, and ending the season as a Top 10 team for the first time since the late 1940s in 1995, then plummeting to 4-7 in 1996. - A stunning 12-1 season that was just a bad "Border War" loss to Mizzou from playing for a Big 12 title, an Orange Bowl victory and being the only Power 6 team to finish with fewer than 2 losses in 2007, followed up by a much less impressive but still decent 8-5 season in 2008 and a promising 5-0 start to 2009 only to collapse mid-season, lose their final 7 games that year, and start the downward spiral that made KU the laughingstock of Power Conference football for over a decade (statistically even worse than the "Futility U" era K-State teams of the 1980s). This year is off to a 1-4 start and appears to be coming off the rails similar to many of the above. Only time will tell if KU continues to crash and burn or if they can somehow turn things around and make this a "reverse 2009"...
As a ku student who loves football, it’s Jeff grimes to blame and everyone who really watches ku football here knows that. The man runs the ball up the middle on 3&9 constantly and his offense is very predictable
Can we please get the Ballard experiment over with? Hurry and let him stink up the place too. So then there’s no doubt who runs the team. You recruited the Michigan kid for this very reason. Jalon was a 2* and Ballard is a future helper in the colts front office getting coffee for his dad’s buddies. Get them both out the way so u guys can hopefully win a real game. Arizona States about to beat yall this weekend too. Nobody wants Jalon no matter what they say at the presser. There’s more going on than any of you know on that staff and in the locker room. It’ll all come to light once you lose enough games to be eliminated from any thoughts of a bowl. You will see.

@@btalelabtal1577 Not at all. I’m just a huge KU basketball fan (as are most KU alumni). Our program was founded by the inventor of the game, James Naismith in 1898. Naismith spent 41 years at Kansas in multiple roles. He’s buried in Lawrence, Kansas. Kansas is the birthplace of MAJOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL. As former Duke player Jay Bilas has said numerous times, all roads in the history of basketball run through the University of Kansas. Furthermore KU coach Phog Allen as president and founder of the NABC created the NCAA Tournament. Allen got basketball to become an Olympic sport in the 1936 Berlin Games. Why wouldn’t we want to focus on basketball??
Jalon is hot garbage and they are willing to ride the garbage until the last 4 games of the year to preserve their QB1 Zeke Marshall’s redshirt. The telling sign that the staff knew Jalon was not the qb they thought he was was when they played Lindenwood and the true freshman didn’t get one snap. They said they wanted to preserve the redshirt 4 games so they played a 5th string qb. They knew over fall camp Jalon was doomed and their season was shot. But due to a new stadium being built, new OC, high expectations, they had to let it play out figuring they wouldn’t be this bad. But, they aren’t bad, it’s one move and they would have been at no worse than 3-2. My opinion is 5-0 with the true freshman. But it’s KU and they figured no big deal. Everybody got paid, they got their stadium half built, KU fans would understand. Backfire. The message boards are full of OC’s and qb gurus that whine and cry daily. It’s the highlight of my day to watch them in misery.
Should've let the current HC go and hired the former OC as new HC. But as a cat fan ,sure glad they didn't do that. That former guy took KU's current average to below average roster and was creating a pretty big deal. But back to the continuation of the travail of ages. Fight and strive and perish
At this point, I can only laugh. Being 1-5, I see very little chance of another victory, maybe one at best. Once again, KU moves backwards and may even lose funding for the new stadium. Why would anyone invest their money in a losing program during bad economical times? Oh....Kansas would. LOL
@@jbrock8596 that’s my point, honestly! Football brings in more revenue then basketball. Check the numbers my guy, there is a reason people make fun of us for being a basketball school. It takes 3 sold out games at the phog to make up the revenue of 1 sell out at the booth. Not to mention tv contracts are far more lucrative for college football and lastly what’s the most popular sport in America? It’s football by a wide margin so better football program = more fans which = more enrollment which means more revenue. Kansas football made the university $46 million last year compared to basketball which made $18 million. Even when the football program was a complete dumpster fire it made more money then the basketball team. So you do the math my friend.
@@jbrock8596 Kansas Football brought in $46 million last year. Kansas basketball brought in $18 million last year. Even when KU was the worst program they brought in more revenue then basketball.
Like I said, another loss.
Beautiful
"Kansas Jayhawks have been the most disappointing team in college football"
Florida State fans would like a word.
Exactly. Seminole fans be like "Hold my beer".
FSU fans over there waving. "What about us??"
We (Kansas alumnus) FOOLISHLY threw literally hundreds of millions of dollars at football, assuming it would turn us into Alabama or Ohio State overnight. Leipold is 60 so he won’t be coaching much more than a decade more. In the meantime, just think what OUR ICONIC BASKETBALL PROGRAM could have done with that money. We are foolishly chasing unattainable football supremacy, and in the process we may end up watching the rapid decline of JAMES NAISMITH’S BASKETBALL PROGRAM! We need to be like UConn. UCONN is smart enough to understand that their brand is BASKETBALL. They want to make sure they stay near the top in basketball. They couldn’t care less about their football program!! SMART!!

You sound like an Asst basketball coach!
😆 🤣 😂
Didn’t KU just lose its innovative OC?
‘Until Lance Liepold’??? Does anyone realize that the man does not even have a .500 record at KU???
And Mangino was only 2 games above 500!
KU will be ok if their coach stays.
Shot in the foot again. They beat 3 ranked opponents in a row 😂.
LOL
At least we have basketball😢
Gap is closing now that KU can’t cheat anymore
Honestly we need to quit saying this. Football is the life blood of every college athletic department.

Kansas basketball brought in $18 million last year.
Even when KU was the worst program they brought in more revenue then basketball. So you do the math it pays WAY more to be just average at football then it does to be a powerhouse in basketball.
The FSU of the XII
Kansas needs a new stadium
They are working on a renovation.
@@Cooljohn760with taxpayer money
Trust me, stadium is the least of the issues for Kansas. Kansas needs to learn how to play clean football before anything else.
Jalen stinks this year and an about change may be needed but they Are close and have lost plenty in the 4th quarter. Hang in there coach Leipold. OC leaving didn’t help. The head coach should always run the offense. (i.e. Andy Reid)
1-4
OC gap
WVU fan and from a neutral observer. The O-line and QB seems like the 2 biggest obstacles

FSU IS MORE DISAPOINTING... HIGHER RANKED PRE SEASON, LOWER THAN THE CHICKEN HAWKS NOW...
I mean Kansas State is Top 25 still but go off on “Kansas” football 🤭
It was all hype. Neither the coach staff nor the players are good. Trash program as always.
Kansas isn't a football school. There's nothing wrong with that.
The background music forced me to not watch the video, it adds nothing, and makes no sense.
KU has too much talent on their roster to be 1-4. It's a sad surprise.
😂😂😂😅😂
THE WEALTHY DONORS GOT SWINDLED!

Sir, I think you are exaggerating with your negativism about Kansas Football. You may not have much love for the University of Kansas.
