I am so, SO very happy to have found you FIRST at the beginning of my gouache journey. I began painting in my youth with acrylic. It was the easiest and back then, I didn’t have a clue about gouache. The closest was poster paints and that was like, sooo Kindergarten. Lol (Now I know it’s what most professional illustrators use… 🤦🏻♀️ go figure) And unlike watercolor, where I had to just jump right in, scared to death, and began buying all-the-things, only to realize over a couple of years of using it, I’d spent WAY too much $$ and time on things I really didn’t need (ahhh, color theory is magical)! And paper really does make all the difference. (No wonder I hated watercolors - 90 lb wood pulp paper, I’m looking at you 😢) So, I decided to start my gouache adventure RIGHT, and thank goodness, I already have all the supplies I could ever need (besides the gouache, of course). I first bought a Marie’s tube gouache set bc I didn’t even know if I’d like gouache (I do!) and they’re actually pretty great, but last week, I bought the Himi 112 twin cups palette (overkill) on sale, and. I’m. LOVING it! I don’t have to mix colors so much, but still have the knowledge to if I want, so now I can just focus on building my relationship with gouache and really fleshing out its characteristics. ANYWAY (omg this is long), I just began using gouache about a month ago and am so incredibly thankful I found your videos. You’re an INCREDIBLE artist, have an adorable personality, and are an outstanding teacher! ❤ Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to teaching others!

I am OBSESSED with your paintings!! there's just something about your paintings that is really unique, I know some of them are based on the artstyle of studio ghibli, but you have other paintings that are like that. luv your vids!!

When I tried studying bread or food in general ,I always get hungry 😂. Tried that glazing technique with gouache a couple of times and it was a total failure, it's either I added too much water that the layer underneath got reactivated 😥or not enough that it just covered the layer underneath. Being a beginner, I'm still trying to familiarize myself with gouache which is both fun and frustrating at the same time. Just need a little bit of patience 😂
Ahhh me too!! Especially when I paint sweets. 😅 Glazing is SUCH a difficult process with gouache, but it can have some really cool effects! Gouache definitely takes a lot of patience, but it’s so rewarding. 💛
I use washi tape for mine!! It doesn’t stick too much to the paper and usually gives me a fairly clean line when I take it off at the end. Thank you so much for watching!! 💛
