If Hudson did New Adventure Island 2 for the Turbo Duo CD, then it probably would have been a metroidvania game, much like Super Adventure Island 2 for the SNES.
Isn't it? I also like how killing the fox in this one drops a PC Engine controller, just like how he dropped a Famicom controller in the NES games. Now that I think about, it actually looks like the first CoreGrafx pad given its coloring.
Me too. I remember when it came out, but I didn't have a TG16 as a kid so I pretty much ignored it. I really got into it after I grabbed the Wii Virtual Console re-release.
@@NintendoComplete Nice! I never owned a Wii, so I haven’t had the chance to play it. Great video btw. Looking forward to more of them - Dragon’s Curse! ;)
I know he’s supposed to be running in place, but in all the games I’ve watched so far, and especially this one, it looks more like he’s doing the pee-pee dance. Loving these vids. I remember renting the first NES one occasionally, but never beat it. I don’t know why. These games don’t look that tough. And I beat Cobra Triangle as a kid.

@@WelcomeToPuppetWorld Yes. That's what I was saying... it's just the NES version had her have black hair (though, giving the benefit of a doubt, the developers were still deciding what her look was to be).
Which one do you think is better...this one or Super Adventure Island? I wish Sega would have made their own 16-bit Wonder Boy like this. Maybe Mega Wonder Boy. Then we could have had 3 games go at it for the best.
@@NintendoComplete After watching you play both and getting the chance to try New Adventure Island myself...I think I agree with you. The Snes game is kind of strange.
Playing through the adventure island series for the first time and this might be my favorite so far. The presentation is really nice and the controls are the tightest. Music and graphics might not be as nice as the snes games but they definitely dont fall far behind and are still great.
New Adventure Island is a welcome throwback that really delivers the goods with its refined take on the original Wonder Boy formula.
If there is a God (and there is, Kim Kardashian), she is a fan of this channel 🥂🍾

Having hudson's logo in checkpoint flags is such a nice detail 😊

The Showtime scenes were great!
This is an incredible game/version of Wonderboy. I wish I would have found it years ago because I think it’s worth a ton now.

I played this on PS3 of all things. It was on their virtual console equivalent. Definitely not the optimal console for this!
@@BB-te8tcOh man, how was the input lag with a PS3 controller? Ouch hahaha
It certainly soured my expectation of the game! I'll have to try it on a MISTer at some point in the near future.
This has such an unusual soundtrack, but I found it pretty fun. Strikes me as odd that there's only seven worlds though.

I never beat the first one either. The second to last stage has these falling platforms you gotta run and jump off of, with pixel-perfect precision.
Excellent video.

Nice game😊😊

Looks like a reproduction of the original Wonder Boy from 1986. Gameplay is 100% identical. Prettier graphics for sure.
Yes even the graphics look like a 1986 arcade game
This game should have came out the same time the TurboGrafx16 was release. And Hudson Soft should have made version 2,3,4. for the system.
I'm guessing the bride is supposed to be Tina's new look (as of this game)?

On the sound department , sorry but Yuzu Koshiro's music was light years away from this music, on the gameplay this one is a bit better...
Looks better than snes version of this series 🤔
