Shame there are players who decided Caleb Wycherly and Salvation were the same person. There is absolutely no canonical connection between the two. The players are wrong but they are single minded. Salvation is the only way to survive.
I really think the war was a mistake. Even though I am fully involved, not because I believe in the war, but cause I like the money. Having my Carrier paid for the next 20 years is a great thing.
Dude I'm so glad they keep improving this game. I bought a HOTAS and got into it for a handful of hours, back in 2015. Seeing what it has evolved into is just breathtaking. Feels like it's time for me to buy the expansions and dive back in... Great videos, thanks for the content!!
Your voice is the best voice for talking through and explaining anything - Lester Holt , move over! P.S. are you going to see the Thargoid experience through to the end? At one point griefers were picking off players returning to rescue ships with survivors... P.P.S - love your editing, both video and audio
Great video. When you request docking, the Thargoid shutdown field doesn't effect you, That's how you dodged that (some people abuse that which is annoying when you want to land to repair or pick up missions). Cheap passenger ship look at the Type 7 - it's about the same as the python, but with 1 more passenger cabin, however it needs a large pad, but at a fraction of the cost! Cheap and easy small station AX I like the DBX (it has great weapons for its size, and only takes a small pad, so works well in a group)
Used to run a bunch of evac missions but lately the war has resulted in basically 0 invasions. The systems in alert are also being cleared increasingly quickly. Have since switched to AX combat. It has been quite a journey
If you don't want to search for the mailslot you should try to drop into the zone with the planetside facing the rear of your ship and the station facing your front. This way the mailslot is right in front of you.
Btw, supercruise assist drops you in even if your speed is slightly higher than the actual safe disengage speed. Iirc as long as you’re at or below 0.10c most of the time it’ll work. Some locations also have higher safe disengage speeds which makes sc assist drop you even at faster speeds.
Half of the player base didn't want the war at the start, lots fight because their territory is threatened. I know A LOT of vets that wanted to talk not shoot. I stopped playing cos I 'lived' for 6 years in thargoid space np at all and the whole thing felt stupid to me. We were made to feel we had no choice - elite is about choice.
I like the idea of doing an un-engineered build to circumvent the grind. But then using one of the most expensive ships in the game, plus Guardian tech that you have to unlock, sort of cancels that out? I have 700 hours in this game on and off since 2015. Most of my ships are somewhat engineered (but I only have one max engineered module across my entire lineup) - and I dont have a single Guardian module unlocked lol.
to unlock the one guardian module i use in this video takes maybe an hour or two, and youll be well on your way for some others. im honestly kinda impressed youve already been through engineering but havent done the guardian stuff yet XD, its so much easier. also you dont need it. it just makes things quicker. im only boosting fsd range.
@indigointoblack I backed ED waaaaay back in the day. I'm in the OP's shoes. Haven't played in years, and it seems that a lot of content had to be experienced at the time. I'm getting back in to try to fight in my Cobra, and I'm not even sure what all's changed with the engineers and Guardians. I finished A-rating my Cobra then thought, "wait, what's this SCO frameshift thingy I bought? Is that like the pre-engineered FSD I heard about a year ago or so?" Apparently you can boost in supercruise now??? Wild changes happening.
also if you want to be a real menace to the thargoids stick 4 ax multis in the python and you can take scout killing missions while entering and exiting the base for abit of extra cash
I was excited when at the beginning it was said the video is intended for people who don't know anything about the game, but then... nothing was really explained it was just watch some gameplay is all. The video was good and entertaining, but I don't think it was helpful for brand new players looking to understand the game
Ya, I just found this game... but it doesn't really look the most new user-friendly thing. I'm sure there's some tutorials or something out there but still.
Hey, if you change your settings and disallow the assist from controlling your throttle, then you can just increase/decrease throttle in hypercruise without turning your ship off-course. the autopilot will reengage when you decrease the throttle to the blue zone so you dont miss out on any functionality this way. by the way - what's the point of using D rated powerplants instead of A rated lower class ones?
Yea it feels a bit odd tho to me, so I overspeed by slipping. The power plant is 1, cheaper so if someone doesn’t now what they are doing the build is cheaper, 2, weight. unless isn’t not lighter, in that case I’m sad.
hey i want to get into AX stuff but if im honest im incredibly confused by what i actually need to do in order to start out. im currently using a python with 88 mil in my bank right now. is it worth using my python as an AX ship? ive yet to unlock engineering (still need to learn about it) or the guardian stuff.
yea i think its possible to go totally unengineered, but youll be mostly doing things at places like surface ports under attack, as you can heal there. i would personally recommend looking up how to get the guardian tech unlocked, the weapons are used by even the best AX pilots.
Enhanced Ax multicannons, surface ports under attack, non-human signals threat 4 (usually hunters), threat 6 may be possible, get the better xeno scanner, you'll be running hot without engineering, so heat sinks are essential. Maybe a small gimballed laser. Stack it with module and hull reinforcements. Shields won't last long so some go without them (not me). Recommending enhanced xeno scanner, pulse neutralizer, two heat sinks (if there's slots) and a caustic sink. There are many places not to go alone.
Hey, bit of a silly question but… how is your view of interfaces like the ship screens / docking screens so zoomed out? For my settings regardless of ship the star port services is usually my entire screen (unless I headlook / open another panel) and flying around I can barely ever see legs / arms. I’m guessing it’s field of view, but I remember testing that one out when I first started the game (only a few months ago) and it seemingly only made the view narrower (more zoom) rather than wider… did I mess up, or is there some other setting? Because I’d love having a bit wider view, but after the first week of playing I mostly stopped fiddling with my graphics settings so I’d actually play the game rather than stare at settings for hours fiddling with them…
ah I don’t remember exactly which file, but there’s a way to do it I think with a config file, you can look into it if you want but it’s use at your own risk. my UI is slightly bugged because of it in the outfitting screen. It is indeed just the fov
@@indigointoblack oh I see, sounds similar to how I’ve heard you can change the interior colours used for displays if you edit some files. I’ll definitely look into that, thanks for the response!
9:12 "Blue tunnel"? Wait, that thing means you're in an instance with someone? How exactly does that work? Been playing this game since 2020 and never heard of it
so, elite works on “instancing” which means when you are doing a jump or drop it finds players that are in the same area and pulls you into their lobby or “instance”, usually pretty seamlessly, if it hangs in the drop or jump, we call it “blue tunneling” because of the vfx you get stuck seeing. It suggests you are connecting to someone, could also just be lag.
When you hear the announcement of the "Energy surge detected" put all pips to system, count to 3, and then trigger and *hold* the trigger for the ECM until the pulse passes (or sys capacitor is fully drained)
@@cmdrjontomasson5510 ECM is NOT the AX Impulse Neutralizer. ECM should protect from Missles and Scythe Hatch Breaker Limpets. But never worked for me.
You can just shit FLAK on Brain Trees followed by Collection Limpets. High Grade Emissions are very common in Boom State Systems. Might not be as efficient but I just scoop up whatever I can and then go to a Material Trader.
To be honest, if you know what you are doing, doesn’t take that long. The hardest part is getting your hands on a bunch of mats to start with. After that I’ve just kinda refilled and traded when I needed to, not horrible. Still needs to be fixed.
Yeah this why I left the game coz it's so much grindy specially with how far mats are from the bubble. They could at least make a lot cheaper trading up or make it purchasable.

Agreed! Great cmdr to fly with!

The war has been both fun and profitable. Defending surface sites has been the best gameplay ever.
