The ARG has nothing to do with him though... Some creepy woman who started a publishing company, the company that published this game, is the one running the ARG.
So an idea I have is the buckshot roulette that Volta created is not the story mode but the multiplayer, considering the aesthetics of loading into a lobby and the computer in the bathroom. Also just another thought, perhaps the Tartarus Engine was a product of the Volta and Pentacle partnership, and heck, maybe the companies merged at some point to create E.K.R.E. Also I really hope The Other Side is canon in this as well, I adore that game for some reason.
37:55 in all honesty, the relationship between E.K.R.E. And Pentacle is probably just that E.K.R.E. purchased or uses a Pentacle crane, and the operator manual just has Pentacle’s logo on it because they made it.
I can't play buckshot, as I don't have a PC, but I love watching it. The atmosphere and music is so unique. Hopefully the lore continues to develop, and it's not abandoned.
39:23 coffee, could Infineural have some connection here? Something hidden if you don’t drink the coffee? I may not be thinking too outside the box tho
There are many things that I hope Rita takes away from this to improve this and future ARGs (the reliance on having to use a specific website to decrypt, however the hell someone was supposed to connect the dream from carbon steel to a specific verse in a specific translation of Dante’s Inferno, and the leak caused by live editing stick out to me as weak points). Still really cool though!
I’m sorry, but does the symbol at 29:11 remind anyone else of the cabins from Unsorted VHS? Since cabin 6 is missing, the remaining 5 do making a pentagram 🤔
40:13 - may be a stretch, but it's 3am and my mind jumped to it, so I'm noting it down; is the poem referencing when you see 'Heaven' after dying on round 3 in story mode? Is something hidden there somewhere in the cutscene? I can't imagine so from my memory of it but 🤷♀️ 'three in booming shots', 'essence swept by the flood', 'only in misery will you see cosmic shine'?
I've seen really creepy, gorey and horrible horror games, but when I first saw Buckshot Roulette I thought it was the most morbid one. The concept of playing (a sort of) russian roulette in tandem with the fact that this is a somewhat legal activity and not restricted to a few underground classes in society makes this game incredibly uncanny.
It's interesting to me that the leaker's message specifically highlights "achievements", which could be sarcasm against Volta but could also be another pointer towards something to look at: Steam trading cards were already used once, why not a game's achievements?
Rita must be an AMAZING lay if Mike still didn’t fire her Seriously, never seen anyone entrust their juggernaut of an IP with someone so incompetent and downright stupid xd
my theory is that the creature is the bad ending of carbon steel, the pressurised human. It kinda lines up with pentacle's morals so i think its the most probable

Rita just seems incompetent and not fit to have run this ARG is what I've gathered from watching these videos. Part of the reason I never got interested in this particular ARG, who runs an ARG as a known GM in a public space? Just weird. Not to mention all the "kittens" shit. Just weirdo behaviour and whole thing seems poorly thought out.
She somehow started her own video game publishing company, now is trying to run an ARG. Makes sure her face is known as the one behind both. Seems like she just wants attention and is using any way she can to do it. Like she knows Mike personally and is using him to "promote" herself. Why does Mike even need a publisher? He's an indie dev that produces his own games. Why did he let her start and control an ARG related to his work? Just seemed like he already had a general idea of his game universe and was having fun just making games and connecting pieces to make it more entertaining. Then this woman comes along and manipulates him to let her use his work for her own gain. That's how I see it, and I'm not saying that's how it is, just my theory.
Yeah. The general attitude they have is a subjective issue that I'm sure some others didn't have issue with, but the fact that we were supposed to be able to pick a specific quote, from a specific translation, of a book based on the idea that the quote says "eyes looking anywhere" and someone else.... Had eyes? And at 35:32, the character straight up saying 'hey there is no need for this to be presented this way, I'm just wanting to' feels... Shitty? In an arg? A huge part of writing a successful arg is finding a justification for the puzzles to exist. And this one doesn't really seem like the puzzles make sense. I think it is a pretty interesting story, but it's being forced into a storytelling medium that just doesn't work
Yeah the situation with the shutdown cipher should have been a massive red flag that the password was also completely fucked and effective unsolvable. A key thing when making a puzzle is to have others largely uninvolved with its creation take a look at it in order to see if the logic behind finding the solution is sound or not. Obviously the puzzle will make perfect sense no matter what to the creator, after all they made it.
Everything just points to this woman wanting attention and wanting to pursue her personal desires without knowing what she is doing or where she is going with it all. She wants to be involved with video games, is somehow able to start her own publishing company which is immediately successful because of Buckshot selling millions of copies, despite the fact Mike is an indie dev and produces his own games with no need for a publisher. She wants to be involved with an ARG, so convinces Mike to let her make one using the game she published through her "company". She really has no idea what she is doing with either, but really likes the attention she gets by being the face behind it all, which isn't something ARG creators/GMs do. She's taking a really convoluted route to being a weblebrity. It seemed like Mike already had a general idea for his game universe and was having fun connecting them all together. He seems like a guy that just enjoys making video games. Then this woman comes along and manipulates him to let her do whatever she wants with his work for her own benefit and enjoyment...
i get what your saying man but it feels needlessly hostile the way you said it. like i dont think she "manipulated" him as you said, and the way you keep referring to her as "this women" feels off. also i think the game being published by an actual company probably helped a lot in terms of getting more people to know about since a company can spend its own resources to help market the game and whatnot
Tdlr: Mike isn’t this huge cuck you’re making him out to be, he can accept or deny publishers and neither you or I know how much he worked on this ARG with Rita, nor if the ARG was Rita’s idea in the first place. You’re assuming she’s a grand manipulator when it’s much more likely that it’s just two people talked extensively and then she ended up with a marketing campaign that had some glaring issues. Honestly it kind of seems like you’re doing a lot of assuming. How do you know that she’s the one who reached out to Mike, It can easily be the other way around? Not to mention that Mike is an adult and has the ability to accept or deny any publishing deals that desires. You also don’t know the back room talks surrounding the creation of the ARG. One of the many tasks of being a publisher is advertising and like most ARGs it might of been one of many marketing strategies that they chose to pursue after having an informed discussion. How would you be able to determine that elements of the ARG is from “Rita’s manipulations” vs Mike’s whole cloth ideas? Especially since this is a developer and his publisher, it’s more than likely that they talked extensively to implement these things together, linking back and forth between the ARG and the base game as the ARG does. The whole premise here is that Mike is a huge cuck that can’t stop or even push back against 1 (one) woman from completely parading around a bastardization of his work. I think it’s lot more charitable to think that Mike and his publisher got together, talked marketing strategies, chose doing an ARG at Mike’s direct behest, while dealing with all the other things that a publisher must do (managing the community, advertising, legal dealings, etc) Rita made her first ARG with direction from Mike and struggled while doing so. She’s not evil, she just struggled with a project, and you’re assuming all these intentions even though neither Mike or Rita even suggest this is the case If Mike decides to change publishers for his next game, so be it, you’re more right than I thought.
Dude it’s okay you didn’t like an ARG but you don’t have to make the person that helped to run it be a cartoonish villain and the indie dev you like a helpless victim. They’re both adults???

No problem! Hope you enjoy learning about it!
I really did@@everberon
Did anyone else notice how in the CEO file, the word "god" is redacted? You can tell by the "[redacted] damn", and "I swear to [redacted]"
Yeah I caught onto that. Very interesting stuff...
Probably a reference to the fact that “god” is dead or probably dead because of the contract between “god” and the dealer
My first instinct when hearing “the creature” is that it’s referring to The Dealer as said creature
no its The Creature in the Basement from r/TwoSentenceHorror
