The biggest problem I have with Fifty Shades is that very badly portrays BDSM. What Christian does to Ana isn't BDSM, it's toxic and manipulative. She keeps telling him no and he's goading her into stuff

At the least, I am happy to believe that they cared for and protected each other during what they both have said was a very difficult shoot. I have not seen the second and third movies, so cannot comment on the outcome of the trilogy.

It's called emotional development and a bit of mental rewiring. He was abused and neglected as a toddler and then sexually abused and groomed as a teen into adulthood. He thought it was the way he had to be and all he knew. When he meets Ana he's immediately drawn to her and develops feelings he doesn't understand or feels worthy of and resist them. When she leaves he realizes he wants her more than the lifestyle and makes an effort to learn how to deal with those emotions and have a loving relationship. It takes time, and he makes mistakes, but over the trilogy, he does get there.

The 2 movies after this one, Christian was a lot more sensitive and emotionally inclined with Ana. On this he was less sensitive bcz in his head he was like- I’m not in relationship a with this woman. We’re just playing a game which we both agreed to. Ok, let’s see how it goes. And I hope we all clearly remember how it went- Ana décidée she doesn’t like the game because she wanted them to be more open with one another. She wanted something more( as she says in this clip ) she wanted all this things from Christian that he didn’t think he can offer her bcz they made him feel like HE would appear as submissive. One of their rules in the game was that if she ‘misbehaved’ she would receive punishment . Catch the keyword: GAME. It was their game. Theirs. They walked into it together. At the end of the movie when Chris hit her with the thingie as she lay on the piano, she REALISED that the whole thing...WASNT what she wanted. Now folks that is the only moment in the movie that I can confidently say was assaulting BECAUSE when they spoke about punishment in their contract, she did not think that’s what it meant. It's called emotional development and a bit of mental rewiring. He was abused and neglected as a toddler and then sexually abused and groomed as a teen into adulthood. He thought it was the way he had to be and all he knew. When he meets Ana he's immediately drawn to her and develops feelings he doesn't understand or feels worthy of and resist them. When she leaves he realizes he wants her more than the lifestyle and makes an effort to learn how to deal with those emotions and have a loving relationship. It takes time, and he makes mistakes, but over the trilogy, he does get there.

And I hope we all clearly remember how it went- Ana décidée she doesn’t like the game because she wanted them to be more open with one another. She wanted something more( as she says in this clip ) she wanted all this things from Christian that he didn’t think he can offer her bcz they made him feel like HE would appear as submissive. One of their rules in the game was that if she ‘misbehaved’ she would receive punishment . Catch the keyword: GAME. It was their game. Theirs. They walked into it together. At the end of the movie when Chris hit her with the thingie as she lay on the piano, she REALISED that the whole thing...WASNT what she wanted. Now folks that is the only moment in the movie that I can confidently say was assaulting BECAUSE when they spoke about punishment in their contract, she did not think that’s what it meant. But loook at the bright side- SHE LEFT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT. Now that’s the message fifty shades of grey wanted to deliver to the women- if a man hits you please leave. If you want better, leave and rather wait for a time when you’ll find better. Anna may have been super submissive to Christian but guess what? Her resilience shocked Christian when she walked out of his life and it also made him réalise that he shouldn’t been so stuck of the game and it’s rules enough to be so ignorant towards her feelings.
