I have read the book twice and have completely changed my bathing, hygiene, skincare process. I have stopped using soap and now just use a homemade ayurvedic bathing herbal powder (Nalangu mavu or Sunni pindi), which has been the traditional bathing ritual in India. We were fools to forget that. I don't even need a deodorant in a tropical country like India after this. This book lead me to another book - Beyond soap by Dr sandy skotnicki and was very useful too. The message needs to spread in a revolutionary manner. Soaps are so bad for your overall health not just skin.. Thank you James Hamblin - You have done a real big favor to me. Regards from Bangalore, India

I think in formulations like human races soap bar, they don’t utilize harsh soaps but it’s much more utilitarian to use a bar of a soap and a silicone scrub than utilizing powders.

It seems to me that we wash off all of our skin's natural protective chemicals with soap and then try to replace them with skin care products.

    My mother almost never showered.
Only washing her hands, face, private parts and her body on the sink and not her hair. Only once a month her hair, also on the sink.
She has still a lot of hair. She is 83 years. She only had 1 or 2 times fever in her life and never had the flu.
Only 3 vaccines in her life.
Eating veggies, eggs. No restaurant. No alcohol. No smoking.
The only thing she has is a bad memory and all her life hand tremors. Dry skin. I think because she almost never eats meat/fish. A few times a year only.

I remember a man somewhere ( i think India ) did not bath, shower, wash for decades.
One day he was bathed ( thanks too empathic helpful people who had compassion and wanted to clean him ) and died soon after.
I think, if you do not wash for sooo long, you should not be bathed.

Before even watching the video there is a Covid disclaimer here. How silly

This Doctor hasn't showered in 5 years. Eventually your body's skin microbes achieve an equilibrium and you don't stink... allegedly.

I stopped showering everyday..I only shower one a week now..mostly for my hair..it looks greasy and my head itches. But doing just fine. For years I thought a shower everyday was essential and found it so isn’t. 😊❤

You should maybe shower twice a week, and instead of shampooing your hair, simply wet your scalp and condition your ends (avoid your roots)

The more I heal the less I need to shower. Also I don't even go out that often so why the need. It feels like a mere societal expectation.

So many celebrities, such as brad Pitt, Leonardo di Caprio, Robert Pattinson, zac efron, Johnny dept don’t really shower ! And hey are all atractive, Louis 14 of France wash himself 3 time in life and has many many consorts. Honestly, even avoid water has good benefits to my skin, I will not do it because of my personal choice. Thank doc but it’s my opinion

I've been showering only once a month for two years, though I don't use soap on any parts that aren't smelly, and never on mucous membranes. Seems to work, because since I started doing this I haven't been ill once, even though my partner has at least two colds or flu per year. I used to have a cold maybe once a year. I do find that I have more body odour in the week after washing than I have the rest of the month. Might try extending the showerless period in this time of Covid.

Organic real organic is definitely better its common sense. Chemicals that are not ment for the body should not be put on or in the body . If a Dr says otherwise iam concerned. I like some of the other stuff he said but what he said about organic and natrual clean stuff is not common since .

I was intrigued by the concept of skin health but this guy couldn’t even form a coherent sentence. He seems so nervous I literally can’t follow what he’s saying. He kept throwing the questions back to the interviewer like he didn’t have an answer. Bummer.

He has good ideas but he's a terrible communicator. Mumbling, hedging, shifting, meandering, smacking his lips... It's not helped that it's a conversation between two experts so they talk in academic parlance and cadence.
