Bro 6 hours trying to get the he loader lol most of the Spanish tutorials are link downs or they don’t explain how the boot system work lol but watching your tutorial I figured out and I make my own way I just copy the hdloader from my cousin he bought the memory card already with the mcboot lol I just copy his programs and I paste on my memory card thank you brother
To run an external hard drive I would recomend using Open PS2 Loader, HDLoader does not ave USB support, and yes I believe the proper format is FAT32 NTFS
Thank god for this tutorial!! I was watching one on a more popular channel, no offense at all. It told me to patch the games using ESR. IT DOESN'T WORK!! THIS method WORKS!!
I saw another youtubers tutorials, they didnt work ,none of them! but ill try this one out tomorrow, see if it really works because it looks legit to me!
Okay i tried it out, it says "Hardvare Error" that it couldnt detect my HDD, while its plugged in PS2 SLIM PAL SCPH-79004 HDD used: HD710 external usb hdd (465GB) I removed the volume from it, formated it with WinHIIP, i installed Gran Turismo 3 onto it, then i scaned it, it was good. Alos it said that i missing some sort of "PS2 Master Boot Record"
Slim models have always been tricky. I would recommend using either Open PS2 Loader or USB Advanced Loader. Give those a shot (Don't do anything to your HDD!) and let me know if that works for you!
From what I've gathered, your only option is to make sure you save the game, then load Disk 2 manually through HDLoader. It sucks, because there is a way to do this on PS3's PS2 emulation where you can load the second disk through the XMB.... I'll do some more research, but from a quick net search that's all I've found so far... Sorry for bad news!
I followed the guide but every time I connect my 3tb Seagate drive it freezes on the mcboot startup screen. So I tried using a 512mb flash drive and when I click on HD loader i just get an error page. Any help???
I just bought an HDD IDE 250 Gb and I formatted using the "HDDRawCopy1.02Portable - 48 bits". After that I used the "hdl_dumb" to install my PS2 Isos to the hdd... Once I turn on my ps2 I can see my ps2 hdd and all the games on it and I can play some of them...What can I do to play ALL the games without compatibility issues... I dont have that menu at the beginning the one that saids Free Mcboot or somenthing.... Any advice friend?
This helped so much thank goodness for you, in order for me to copy the components that make up my modded mem card I would have to do the second part of this video?
Hum.. well I got everything on that Toshiba external drive.. so formatting it.. would make me lose everything,..and is that the only way to load movies from the drive?
can someone please tell me how to set up the browser to show free mcboot {version} then Ulanchelf,ESR,HDloader, ect? when I load the mulit instal it puts in on the memory card but I can't seem to get the scrolling screen like in this video & others HELP what am I doing wrong?
Luis Alberto Gálvez welp i tried and not really. With gran turismo 4 it gives some sort of MDS file instead of ISO and a ".00" and .01" files which are probably the games files themselves. So i think the answer is no, sadly.
So how would you use games that give you the option to load the original? I have Dynasty Warriors 3 and the expansion disc so could you still install the expansion to the hard drive and load the original from the disk drive?
will a BD-ROM optical blue-ray disk drive work to? Of cores with a sata to ide adapter.could you still copy ps2 disk image files to a blue-ray disk? pop it in the blue-ray drive and run them?
I followed all directions only switched from mass to hdd i already had hdloader on a fmcb card that I copied, and hdloader is where its supposed to be but it loads a black screen. Im using freehdboot version 1.966
I've never ran into that issue, but it may be because of freehdloader. That mood updates the OS (kind of) so HDLoader might not be launching correctly because of it. I worked need to research it a bit more to get you a better answer
The path may be wrong, or it also depends on your PS2 model. Something else that may be effecting it would be aftermarket PS2 memory cards, or a slow USB drive.

Why do some games not load or work, i have used winhiip on Windows 10, Managed to get Devil May Cry working on mode 1, but other games i cannot get working..

So I just take a HDD (Like a Seagate 160 gb SATA Internal Hard Drive) and hook it up to my computer? How does the PS2 connect to the hard drive? Using the same cable?
No, you need a PS2 Network Adapter. most can still be found at GameStop or ebay. Also, you are going to need an IDE based Hard drive unless you find an IDE to SATA adapter that will work with the PS2
I used to have a memory card with the HD loader programme installed on it having to use distruction derby as the boot cd, but many years later the memory card corrupted (someone was jealous I think to this day!) But I've still got my ps2 with over 30 games on the HDD, but will I lose the games once I've installed HD loader again?
With this particular method, no. You would want something more like Open PS2 Loader for USB games. However consider the DRASTIC incompatibility with a lot of USB based games. The read/write speeds of the USB bus on PS2 was never meant to transmit data fast enough for games. You will have problems with load times and a much higher possible freeze risk. But of course it is possible :)
hi am using a ps2 slim and am gonna install free mcboot at somepoint anyways can you install the game from the disc in the ps2 to hard drive rather then the pc?
Cain532 also, I’m having trouble with winhiip. It won’t read my hdd. I’m formatting it with HDLoader in my ps2, reformatting it on my computer, and back again on hdloader, nothing. I’m logged in as admin. Does the jumper setting matter?
fixed the link (sorry!) and as far as winhiip, it's hit or miss sadly :( make sure your hdd is plugged into a USB 2.0 slot if you're using a IDE reader, try running winhiip with compatibility settings for Windows XP
What is The brand and model of HDD you are using? Also what make and model of usb to IDE r u using? If u can just send me links to where to buy the exact ones online like amazon I'd appreciate it. I also want a 120GB HDD like you have.
HDLoader requires you to use a physical IDE or PATA based HDD attached to your PS2 via the network adapter. If you want to use a USB drive to launch games (not recomended because PS2 uses USB 1.0 with very slow read/write speeds) you would need to use something like OPL or USB Loader Advance
I installed Persona 3 FES on HDLoader using the original disc. The game was SUPER fast. I understand that the HDD will be faster than the optical drive, but I didn't know it would effect game-play. Are there any solutions to this issue?

i formatted my hd with the hdloader program... installed games with it as well. went to use winhiip and it doesnt recognize the hd anymore.. can you help?
hum this...you're doing it with a usb flash drive not an external portable drive right?Cos my usb flash drive just stopped working out of nothing and all i got to do this is my toshiba external portable drive.. but it somehow doesn't work..as there's nothing in the mass folder.. the drive is not recognized there can you help me do this with it please?
try to make sure the drive is formatted to fat32. You may need to format it a few times. I'd use a tool such as Mini Partition Wizard, delete the partition so you have unallocated space, apply settings, then format to fat32. Should work just fine. If that doesn't work then check out my video about HDD OSD
***** Not a problem! MiniPartitionWizard is veryeasy to use; once loaded up you just right click on the HDD you are trying to format and locate the "delete" option. Then you can double click the HDD and it will ask you what you want to do with it. Be sure to select FAT32 for the type!!
My PS2 recognizes the hard drive and the games I have on it show up with OK status on WinHiip, yet they still aren't showing up on HDLoader. It sees the drive, but it thinks there's nothing on it as far as games. What exactly is the issue here?
APetulantWhiteGuy You might need to use HDLoader to format the hard drive. So what I would suggest; use WinHiiP to format the drive initially, do nothing else. Plug it into your PS2, run HDLoader and it should say something about formatting the hdd. Once you do that you should be able to hook it into your pc and install games. Or rip the games using HDLoader
I tried it both right after formatting and after using that rawcopy software to get the image file onto it. HDLoader didn't seem to make any attempt to format it either time; I'm not sure if that's good or bad. I was able to install a game through the PS2 using a disc, however, and I'm not sure what to make of that considering the other problems.
FoxHoundModding After quite a bit of experimenting, I think it might be WinHiip itself that's the problem. I used HDLoader to install a game to my hard drive on the PS2 itself. Then, I used WinHiip to extract the game to my computer, deleted the game off the PS2 drive, and put it back on using WinHiip. And now it doesn't work. I then tried it again on another computer, just to see if it's something about my computer that was causing it. No success. I'm really at a loss at this point as to what's causing the issues. Is there another program one could use to get games onto the hard drive?
So far as I know, there is not another program available. If you can install the game to your ps2 using hdloader why exactly are you trying to pull it off and re-install it via pc? sorry, I'm confused
I shoulda been clearer with that part. I was trying to figure out what was causing my problem. Ripping the game off the disc with HDLoader guaranteed I was using a good ISO that worked with the hard drive. So then, if I copy that same ISO to my computer with WinHiip, delete it from the PS2 drive, then copy it back on with WinHiip, and it suddenly doesn't work, that means that the issue lies either with my laptop or WinHiip.
Make sure your computer is initializing the drive, if you are using some sort of USB adapter for it, be sure to plug the power source into the drive first, then the USB portion. If you still can't get it to show up, right click My Computer and go to Manage, then go to Disk Management and see if there is a new drive in there. If you see it, right click and click on Initialize. NOTHING ELSE if you mess with that too much in the disk manager then you could damage or erase the drive. Although you may need to format it if you can't get it to show up.
You can... It's just very involved... You need to directly solder the leads of an IDE cable to the expansion slot pinout. I saw someone that did it before, crazy stuff
Personally I prefer OPL for general use, but HDLoader is Handy for formatting a drive. Winhiip and OPL don't have good format functions in my opinion. As far as compatibility with games, that can be hit or miss based on PS2 revisions as well as the game versions. You could have multiple flaws that aren't consistent through games that are documented as having the same version.
You may be able to fix it if you repair your drive using WinHIIP, otherwise the HDD may have been formatted incorrectly on WinHIIP. absolute worse case, you can allow HDLoader to format it, then load the games from WinHIIP. I've had to do that before because my HDD technically isn't on the list of compatible HDD's :X But it works haha.
+Cain532@RivalGamer I have repaired it 2-3 times, and installed the games using winhip but every time I plug it to ps2 HD loader wants to format it, I think the hard drive have became faulty.
Can you store games on a USB stick instead of the HDD using this same method/programs? I've been using different set of programs to do that, USB Util for the game making (does the job on the USB stick) and OPL to run the games. Are these two programs equivalent to the ones you are using or is it different?
you can store game from a usb but it is quite slow because the ps2 usb reader is only 1.0 making it read the game even slower than if it was on a disc.
Jesse Lee It's no problem. I found that only the initial load is a bit slow, but once the game starts I can't even tell the difference. I was just curious about these specific programs, since it said "HDLoader", I wondered if it was specifically for hard drives. If it works for USBs as well, I would switch to these programs. On USB Util, there is no "test" option like in here, which would help me a lot. Save me the time and wondering if I did something wrong, at least.
Illusive Serb oh ok then. I had only read online about the usbloader and a lot of people bash on it at times. But oh well I already order a IDE drive and the adapter cant wait to play with my ps2 again.
Jesse Lee Why do they bash it? I guess there are a lot of programs that do the same thing. Finding out about HDD and USB games on PS2 was great, because that means that you can still use your ps2 even if it's laser is dead. And no matter how much consoles advance I always find the "vintage" ones just as fun. Who knows, maybe this time I'll actually complete Final Fantasy X :D
I heard they bash it because of the usb reader on the ps2 is only 1.0 making it read slower than a disc. while on a hdd it makes it alot faster than if it was on a disc.
How do i do this from the very beginning... i just got a sony ps2 hard drive einstalled it... now what? i have all that stuff... but now what... i dont have mcboot etc....
Also isn't a PS2 hard drive a pain to find ? And a pain to use too, if it was something I can just plug in my PC and copy/paste then alright I'll hunt it down
Very sorry for the late reply!!! TH-cam flagged your comment for some reasaon. I'll be honest, I've never hooked anything more than 320GB to it. But if you have a IDE to SATA adapter, it should work. Might be a touch cramped in the back compartment. The hardest part would be providing enough power to the drive itself. No clue if the PS2 can do that!
do you have to have your ps2 connected to your computer for this to work or once you get the game to your ps2 can you plug it back into your tv and play it there?
That depends on how you are wanting to copy the content to your PS2. You can rip it direct using HDLoader and your disk tray (no burned games), you can transfer them over the network using something like WinHIIP, or (using the same program and your HDD connected to your PC) you can transfer them manually.
There's not really any GOOD way to do it because of how the PS2 partitions the HDD. Your best bet is to use WINHIIP and network to your pa2, or using WINHIIP and your pa2 HDD connected directly to the PC
Well when I start my PS2 I see "HD LOADER version 0.8c" (no the classic start) then I see the game list but I don't know how to see the files in memory card physical and I don't know how to access to the HD LOADER Settings Do you cand help me?
Thanks for that. How about another, can this process be used with ps1 games? Seen ps2 for sale with ps1 games on them but guy I got this from said its not possible?
Jason Bilow well, the ps2 handles ps1 games the same way an emulator would and it is a separate process from the OS, so you can't implicitly launch ps1 games the same way you can ps2. They do make emulators for it tho!!!
How do I make my hdd was a problem I did eat install new HDD ps2 ps2 but I format the new HDD hd loader does not open flash memory (16GB) is just that. yenı hdload to load up my b formula also does not work in the CD driver in series
When I open HD loader in my pcsx2, it says I need to format my HDD save file or everything will be lost and when I was done installing outbreak file 1 and restart it to install file 2, everything is gone and have to reset everything again. That's what I'm talking about and hope it clarify it.
If you are trying to place games into the HDD via some sort of FTP methd, then it won't work because for it to work, the PS2 has to actually create a partition to recognize the game. So the easiest method is to either use WinHiiP or HDLoader, or OPL.
No it does not. However it's advised to backup your current memory card to USB. You can do this by following the directions up until you get the the installation of FreeMcBoot where you launch uLaunch.elf. Once launched, go to MC1 (or wherever your memory card is) and copy the contents to your flash drive before installation.
@@Cain532. Thanks for the reply, i have been pulling my hair out the last few days trying to figure it out, does Ps2 loader let you rip discs from the ps2 or do you need to load ISO's from your pc/laptop onto HDD ? That's what i liked about HDLoader but my mem card got corrupted and i lost my copy etc
I can't recall if you can or not. But I've had issues using the PS2 to rip my games. The laser assembly in the PS2 isn't the best :X you are better off getting a cheap DVD drive from Walmart and dumping the disk that way
Unfortunately you can't (unless they released something that makes that possible) There will always need to be an application ran to dump games to the hdd. I think it's a limitation of the actual PS2's OS.
What do you mean by any hard drive? if you mean any IDE based Hard drive, then yes. There are very few IDE based drives that won't work. You can even use some PATA format drives, as they have the same IDE interface.
Typically (atleast from my experience) if the HDD states it has lets say a 6000rpm cap, the PS2 can only handle 5400 of it, therefore it will only spin up to 5400rpm. The HDD may be capable of reaching 6000rpm, but if the system it is hooked up to can't push that much power to it, then it will either not function, or it will only spin up to 5400. I've had luck in the past with high rpm set HDD's working just fine on the PS2.
Ohhh there s still ps2 players despite ps3,4 i'm glad about it ps2 was my childhood

Ps2s do not recognize external HDD via usb. It has to be inside a fat ps2 with an IDE hard drive and a network adapter

Sorry for the late reply. Be sure to try the repair drive option on WinHIIP
hum this...you're doing it with a usb flash drive not an external portable drive right?Cos my usb flash drive just stopped working out of nothing and all i got to do this is my toshiba external portable drive.. but it somehow doesn't work..as there's nothing in the mass folder.. the drive is not recognized there can you help me do this with it please?
try to make sure the drive is formatted to fat32. You may need to format it a few times. I'd use a tool such as Mini Partition Wizard, delete the partition so you have unallocated space, apply settings, then format to fat32. Should work just fine. If that doesn't work then check out my video about HDD OSD
what do you mean by deleting the partition once it's formatted to FAT32?Please do explain that and sorry for my ignorance =P
***** Not a problem! MiniPartitionWizard is veryeasy to use; once loaded up you just right click on the HDD you are trying to format and locate the "delete" option. Then you can double click the HDD and it will ask you what you want to do with it. Be sure to select FAT32 for the type!!
Cool!
So then, if I copy that same ISO to my computer with WinHiip, delete it from the PS2 drive, then copy it back on with WinHiip, and it suddenly doesn't work, that means that the issue lies either with my laptop or WinHiip.
i have xp... my drive is not showing on my computer :(
Make sure your computer is initializing the drive, if you are using some sort of USB adapter for it, be sure to plug the power source into the drive first, then the USB portion.
You can't use the PS2 internal hard drive
You can... It's just very involved... You need to directly solder the leads of an IDE cable to the expansion slot pinout. I saw someone that did it before, crazy stuff
You are awesome thank you
Which is better to use ? HDLoader or OPL? I have both just asking since I’m having issues with certain games using OPL
It didn't work bro when i click at hd loader the ps2 restars any help ?
Double check the name of the Launch.elf, I believe it needs to be CBLaunch.elf, it could also be an issue with the HD loader
when i plug hard disk, hd loader always want to format it :-(
You may be able to fix it if you repair your drive using WinHIIP, otherwise the HDD may have been formatted incorrectly on WinHIIP. absolute worse case, you can allow HDLoader to format it, then load the games from WinHIIP.
How can I load games from a USB drive
You will need to get Open PS2 Loader of USBAdvance to load ISO's from a USB device.
How do i do this from the very beginning... i just got a sony ps2 hard drive einstalled it... now what? i have all that stuff... but now what... i dont have mcboot etc....
If you do not have FreeMcBoot installed you will have to check one of my other videos which runs through the process on installing it to your PS2
+Cain532@RivalGamer can you give me the link
Also isn't a PS2 hard drive a pain to find ? And a pain to use too, if it was something I can just plug in my PC and copy/paste then alright I'll hunt it down
Does this 50004 model support 1tb hard drive?
Very sorry for the late reply!!! TH-cam flagged your comment for some reasaon. I'll be honest, I've never hooked anything more than 320GB to it. But if you have a IDE to SATA adapter, it should work. Might be a touch cramped in the back compartment. The hardest part would be providing enough power to the drive itself. No clue if the PS2 can do that!
does my games affect while im using hdl? because im using opl right now..
Aenar Cirilo no nothing will happen, it's just two different ways to open up your games that's all.
Can you install it on the hdd if you have free hd mcboot instead ?
Yes, this should work just find with Free HD McBoot
do you have to have your ps2 connected to your computer for this to work or once you get the game to your ps2 can you plug it back into your tv and play it there?
That depends on how you are wanting to copy the content to your PS2. You can rip it direct using HDLoader and your disk tray (no burned games), you can transfer them over the network using something like WinHIIP, or (using the same program and your HDD connected to your PC) you can transfer them manually.
Sir i have plan to buy a 128 usb flash drive. Can we play it using opl??
Because i usually played the maximum of 32 gig usb
Shouldn't bea problem, I haven't tried it
This might be a dumb question, but is there a way to transfer my games from the hdd to usb?
There's not really any GOOD way to do it because of how the PS2 partitions the HDD. Your best bet is to use WINHIIP and network to your pa2, or using WINHIIP and your pa2 HDD connected directly to the PC
Hola, I have the HD Loader but I don't know how to access in memory card, Could you help me? Please
Is your PS2 softmodded?
Well when I start my PS2 I see "HD LOADER version 0.8c" (no the classic start) then I see the game list but I don't know how to see the files in memory card physical and I don't know how to access to the HD LOADER Settings
Do you cand help me?
i dont see winHIIP just letting you know
Just added it to the .rar archive. Sorry for the issues!
@@Cain532. its ok
Just got a ps2 with this and cant find any info on this but is their a way to get back to the game selection screen some other way than restarting?
unfortunately no there is not :(
Thanks for that.
This might be over my pay right lol. Was hoping could use a original cd and rip it to the hdd.
hd loader havent memory kart have flash bellek?
+AYHAN IŞIK (By JöN) I'm sorry sir, but I do not understand what you are asking.
How do I make my hdd was a problem I did eat install new HDD ps2 ps2 but I format the new HDD hd loader does not open flash memory (16GB) is just that. yenı hdload to load up my b formula also does not work in the CD driver in series
Is there no one gonna do a tutorial with pcsx2 of how to format a save for hd loader?
Not sure I follow. What exactly are you wanting? Are you saying you want to transfer a save made in pcsx2 over to your physical PS2?
When I open HD loader in my pcsx2, it says I need to format my HDD save file or everything will be lost and when I was done installing outbreak file 1 and restart it to install file 2, everything is gone and have to reset everything again. That's what I'm talking about and hope it clarify it.
+Ryu Lee why are you trying to open hdloader with a ps2 emu? That isn't gonna work haha
what is advantage of this? i dnt know really but if you can please tell me about mcboot and hd loader
Best advantage would be that it skips having to open an app to launch your games
in witch folder do i put the games in ? i got a error
If you are trying to place games into the HDD via some sort of FTP methd, then it won't work because for it to work, the PS2 has to actually create a partition to recognize the game. So the easiest method is to either use WinHiiP or HDLoader, or OPL.
BootlegBoxes o ok thanks
how do i format my hdd for ps2 ????
Several ways of doing this. Typically I use a program called WinHiiP which can format the HDD to the exact format for PS2 use.
Does free mcboot have to be on a formatted memory card? If so, how do I format a memory card?
No it does not. However it's advised to backup your current memory card to USB. You can do this by following the directions up until you get the the installation of FreeMcBoot where you launch uLaunch.elf. Once launched, go to MC1 (or wherever your memory card is) and copy the contents to your flash drive before installation.
you do not need to format your memory card
There is no HDLoader file in the newbie pack?????
This download used Open PS2 loader. Way better, and most of the steps are the same.
The laser assembly in the PS2 isn't the best :X you are better off getting a cheap DVD drive from Walmart and dumping the disk that way
there's no hdloader.elf in the folder you provided
Sorry for the problem!! I updated the download. HDLoader is located in the INSTALL/APPS/ folder.
In your opinion, which is better, OPL or HDLOADER?
OPL to run games, HDLoader to rip games. Anymore I use OPL and manually rip games to my PC using a cheap DVD drive tho
Plus, with OPL you can do network games
How do you put it straight onto your hard drive on free boot hd?
Unfortunately you can't (unless they released something that makes that possible) There will always need to be an application ran to dump games to the hdd. I think it's a limitation of the actual PS2's OS.
Cain532@RivalGamer I’ve seen other videos with people that have hd loader on free boot hd though?
CAT????!!!!
HDLoader is the same as HDAdvance isn't it?
No, they are two different programs.
How big of a Hard Drive does PS2 support?
FavianTube With OpenLoader, ps2 Supports me a 1TB Hard Drive, of couse, that was a portalbe HD, and was loaded by other way.
Are you still active m8?
Starting back up :)
Hello please can you tell me if any hard drive can be use to load games?
Hello, can i change my hdloader version?
You sure can :) Just download whatever version you are wanting and replace the .elf wherever you put it!
is this work with a usb hard drive 500 GB???? CONTACT ME PLEASE
this is for HDLoader which handles internal hard drives. you would need USB Advanced, or OpenPS2 Loader for a USB hard drive
not found the HD LOADER
This discord had open PS2 loader, which is way better. Most of the steps should work the same
hd loader can play games in format PAL
Is this a question, or a statement? Punctuation is important my friend.
question
To answer your question; Yes, HD Loader can play PAL region games.
hd loader with it is through the hard drive?
hermain vazquez Yes, HD Looader stands for Hard Drive Loader, as stated in the video you need to have a hard drive installed.
