The chemist is consistent; you basically can't miss your shot unless you're facing the wrong direction. I feel like no one takes into account the meta with each character, saying that "bumming", or stapling yourself to your teammates, is very common in recent times, making the chemist pretty viable and fun to play against larger groups of enemies, like in Turf or Suburbination.
My final verdict about the Chemist is that it's a purely casual character. Casual players who play for fun like me will probably have a lot of fun playing Chemist no matter the stats. Competitive players consider the Chemist to be a bad character based on stats and playstyle, not by how fun and easy they are too pick up and play.
The major flaw in review of Chemist is relying too much on statistics, mainly DPS and TTK. Even with base sci’s dps are you going to land every single hit? Of course not, you can’t land every single shot perfectly. That takes skill. Chemist takes no skill. By the time the plants notice you and try to kill you or run away, they’re already dead. What corn is going to land all their shots on you close up. If they try to run, they’re just dead. They can’t run. You don’t need to aim, they do. Base imp has high dps but has low accuracy while Shrimp has high accuracy but low dps. Chem has an instant damage weapon that deals its max as long as you can press a button while with other scis you need to aim. Even Zoo takes skill needing to stay on top of enemies while Chem doesn’t have this problem. What does dps matter if you can’t land your hits? The problem in review of Chemist is relying too much on solid statistics when how he’s actually played is where he shines. He has a low skill cap, making him powerful. Warp, shoot, kill, repeat.
i think the main point of chemist is crowd control and being able to get rid of a crowd of plants that your team is getting killed by or at the very least being able to butter up the plants so its a lot easier for the other zombies to kill them
This is the one thing that it seems like everyone’s missing. Don’t use Chemist as a head-on 1v1 machine as he’s literally the worst Scientist to do that with. However, for flanking and attacking a group of unaware plants, Chemist without question does that better than any other variant. 2 main reasons people like the chemist: 1. It feels like you're doing a lot, even when you're not. You're getting hit, after hit, after hit, after hit, and you don't even realize how few kills you're actually getting. 2. He has very cool a theme, very cool sound effects, and a very cool reload animation.

I remember having Aton of fun playing with the Chemist in both GW1 & GW2. I found him pretty effective before the Zombopolis patch. Though I had much less fun playing as him after said patch. I’m glad I was able to get him to max rank before then. At least I still have the base scientist.
i like chemist, mostly for the fact that he was basically scientist but without the aiming part. as someone on ps4 with awful aim, he is good for picking up and playing until your ready to really get into things. its like a sort of scientist tutorial mode.
Personally the best scientist for me is by far the astronaut, something about his weapon is so easy to aim at long and close ranges, plus the near non existant damage dropoff means that he's effective at all ranges, plus it works with some of the scientist's attributes like the lower health which in my eyes encourages more of a distant playstyle and the ability to warp to make distance, as well as if you are healing a teammate and just wanna pick off an enemy from far away instead of trying to go there while getting your teammate to follow. But this might be because i love healing and reviving, especially the revive cheese thing where you jump when reviving to try and dodge projectiles
I think one reason is because in GW1 he was the best scientist, undoubtedly. So the community, since they have a lot of experience with chemist, they play him.
Chemist’s DPS is bad in theory, but how often is he ACTUALLY dealing with enemies at a full 150 HP? Add to that, how often is any scientist player attacking someone with 100% health that is aware and prepared for your attack, and ready to duel you? How often do those enemies have the DPS and the health to beat your TTK, and how often are they aware enough and skilled enough to actually match it? Reality is different than numbers; Chemist might be bad on paper but people do fairly well in games with him over other scientist variants. The nature of his playstyle means he’s guaranteed the first hit and will probably add as much as two seconds to his victim’s TTK based on how quickly they can react. People are rarely topped off on health, which could mean one or more fewer shots. Other plants might have better DPS but they have to aim and you don’t. Even despite all that that, if the plant was full health, 150 HP, and prepared for your attack, you’d win if that plant was a Jade Cactus. Or a Pops Corn. Or a Metal Petal. Or a Rock Pea. He has a strong matchup against many plants at close range. The nature of his playstyle puts him at several automatic advantages against a ton of classes in his effective range. Maybe his DPS isn’t comparable to other scientists, and maybe he’s a free kill at a distance, but once you’re in range very few plants can match his consistency, and unless you’re trying to duel a full health Torchwood then he has many advantages that only skilled players will be able to beat.
Chemist may have a bad TTK and DPS compared to the other Scientist variants but what makes up for it and why he performs so well are these 3 things I like to comment about. 1st, consistency: The massive spray and the flat damage provides easy management in predictability, accuracy and dealing with groups of enemies. 2nd, playstyle: The Chemist is a Scientist class meaning he has acces to the class abilities that together facilitates a playstyle of Highly Aggressive Close Quarters Combat, Warp, Healstation and Mega Heal Bomb being the more "optimal" choices. 3rd, Time In Combat: It's the amount of time you take fighting against the enemy/enemies (TTK is the amount of time for you to vanquish an enemy). Chemist can engage a group of enemies and vanquish all at once in one magazine which takes around 2 - 3 seconds meanwhile a Marine Biologist has to engage every enemy in the group individually which depending on how large the group is means that he'll take more time to vanquish all the enemies having to spent multiple magazines and time spent reloading. With that said here is the scenario (both have damage, reload and ammo upgrades): It's Turf Takeover and there are 5 plants on the point which are 1 Sunflower, 1 Peashooter, 1 Corn, 1 Chomper and 1 Citron. The Chemist warps in and is blasting the Sunflower, Chomper and Peashooter. "bang!" "bang!" "bang!" The Sunflower is vanquished and the is moving around to get the Corn and Citron in range. "bang!" Peashooter vanquished, "bang!" Chomper is vanquished, "bang!" "bang!" Corn and Citron are vanquished. The Chemist had a TIC of ~3 seconds. meanwhile The Marine Biologist warps in and is blasting the Sunflower, "bang!" "bang!" Sunflower is vanquished, next is the Peashooter, "bang!" bang!" "bang!" Peashooter vanquished, next is the Corn, "bang!" "bang!" reloads for 2 seconds, "bang!" Corn is vanquished, next is the Chomper, "bang!" "bang!" "bang!" "bang!" Chomper is vanquished, lastly is the Citron "bang!" "bang!" "bang!" reloads for 2 seconds "bang!" Citron is vanquished. The Marine Biologist had a TIC of ~9 seconds. I haven't even gone into other variables like accuracy, your own survival, the enemy's reaction, etc that may increase your TIC but it highlights that Marine Biologist has to painstakingly pile up his TTK 1 by 1 for his TIC while Chemist can integrate his TTK with multiple enemies in 1 burst for his TIC. In conclusion Chemist is a good character by being a close range sweeper of sorts that can deal groups better than any other Scientist variant.
There is a couple of inaccuracies with this video. Mainly, during the testing, you put all the scientists at different distances, which would cause inconsistency. Two, you didn’t test all the scientists, so chemist might be 3 of 7, which is still pretty good
Probably should’ve had some assistance with the tests (since I had to managed both controllers myself in the split screen test. As for not testing them all, that would my bad, forgot to consider every other variant’s potential, though dr Toxic might have inconsistent results even if the test was conducted for all of them in the exact same circumstances, since the toxic DOT might have lowered the health enough to reduce the number of shots needed, giving an inaccurate result.
The thing he said abou how people arent shitinh on chomper like they arent on chemist is couse thats chompers whole point. Hes a snesk class exept in bfn where hes more of a suprise charge character but still his whole point is snesking on people and getung kills
I think there is an aspect of fear to the Chemist. Unlike other scientists, chemist deals heavy damage, but he does it slow enough to feel pressuring, but fast enough to be deadly. That, combined with the fact that he has to play close-range, likely caused him to be feared by the PVZ GW2 Community. Also, he is incredibly easy to play, so almost anyone can be scared of him. A good comparison character from a different game is Wizard from Clash Royale. He’s a low-effort character, easy to master, and can be used effectively by anyone. However, the longer you play with him, and the farther up the skill tree you climb, the weaker he becomes in comparison to other characters like Musketeer, executioner, flying machine, etc… All that to say, I think he's stronger than anyone truly will ever admit, and that he is probably somewhere around 3-5 for his scientist ranking.
Chemist is an incredible character. Easily one of the best in the game from one of the best classes in the game. That’s why there is so much debate surrounding him. In my opinion, all of the scientists rankings are very interchangeable with some exceptions. Computer scientist being the best and archaeologist and dr toxic being at the bottom. What sets the chemist apart is how easy to use he is, you basically get the same results as the other scientists with less effort. Saying he is anything less than an A tier or an excellent character is insanity, he was overpowered in the first game yet still EXTREMELY strong in the second. Period. Put some respect on the chemist’s name.
I think that the reason that explains the best why people like to play chemist is the same as why people don't like landscaper a lot Which is cuz many people don't wanna worry about aiming. Also I think that he is like a peashooter that always deals direct damage but with less range, ammo and health as a way to make him fair and balanced
I don't think he is even close to the bottom tier characters. Chemist is consistant, has decent dps, a giant splash-like area and he will most likely take down anything that isn't a torchwood.
Honestly my opinion it is basically situational and 99% percent of people panic when meeting a scientist unless if they are the bbq tree man or iron citron
I have a question. When you finish your tier list series are you going to make a video where you get every character in the game and rank them? I would be pretty interested into seeing you opinion on some variants
Chemist is the character you pick when you just can't be asked. He has the lowest TTK in the scientist class, but to make up for it, kills are almost guaranteed. Literally nobody is gonna win against a chemist unless they stun him.
I think the reason he gets played is because of the challenge, he has to play like a melee character, but with low hp and scientist abilities, which makes for unique gameplay. I mastered all the scientists and soldiers and if im honest, i simply enjoyed playing him 😅 so the reason above isnt necessarily my personal reason but what i think others might think
I don't like chemist too much because he doesn't have long range. Of course, everyone says that a lot, but the thing is, your enemies can take advantage of that. Chomper can burrow to safety, corn can husk hop away, peashooter can pogo away, etc. etc. I don't do too much multiplayer, and I'm more of a 2v2's and one on one's guy, so I just would use a different character over chemist that can excel at everything, those are the kind of characters I like to play personally.
In My opinion he is the fourth best scientist in the game or even the best plus no character is good or bad it’s just how people play them like some people can say that toxic brains is garbage and argue. He is the best character in the game.
Chemist The destroyer of sunflowers Master of team killing Elite of high kill games God at getting sniped across the map by that one camo cactus that he can't fight
Chemist correction Destroyer of sunflowers, except sunflowers that can aim and easily out damage the chemist King of dieing to single targets let alone groups since it's health and time to kills are bad Elite of high kill games, only in noob lobbies.
Chemist was always a questionable character,i was never a big fan of not having a long range beam, but it always felt like a strange preformance at close, like i enjoyed being able to hit multiple people, but it just felt strange compared to someone like zoo, marine or stock
Yeah I prefer choosing something like Astronaut Scientist purely because it has range, and because of that I can help support allies shooting from a long range
My take on this character is fun and like being braindead it's kinda like rose sometimes you just don't wanna think and chemist kinda exemplifies that since well you don't have to aim so like basically the gameplay is hold the joystick forward or hold w and just shoot
Hey! I always love watching your videos, mainly the documentarys, but i would like to give my opinion on the green filter you usually uses on this kinda of vídeos, i think sometimes it can be kinda annoying or distracting, but it kinda makes sense considering the horror vibe this videos give
He's not horrible, but is absolutely not good. The killtime isn't the best, and the total lack of range really hurts him, but he's fairly easy to use and can basically just not miss at close range. Basically, easy and fun character but just not the best. Can still completely shred people if played well.
I don't think chemist is the worst scientist, I believe that title corresponds to dr. toxic, whatever, I agree that the chemist is a low tier character and a bad support character, but the fact of sneaking to kill enemies and the impossibility to miss shots can make hgim a good agro character that needs to have cusome abilities to survive
Hes a character who *has* to be played differently from the other scientist It's like trying to play hotrod like stock chomper, or like playing commando like stock pea
He needs an initial burst nerf to 25 damage, but a cone length increase and a 2 second lingering cloud that deals 10 every second. I mean it just makes sense
I'd be inclined to agree if Chemist didn't completely overshadow Physicist's gimmick, given Physicist's chain lightning is 10. It's basically a choice of hitting 60 on one enemy and 10 on a few around versus hitting 40 damage on everything with a slightly faster ROF
Physicist sucks, direct downgrade to every other one (except zoologist and astro, bite me) Maybe i never get the right situations (maybe) Or i dont know how to play him (most likely) But i never can do anything with him
Try this chemist upgrades and abilities? 1st and 2nd upgrade slots should be Reload speed the 3rd damage upgrade Abilities Healing optional Default Teleport Sticky bomb Throw sticky bomb at your enemies and shot the rest. Makes the chemist better.
I had quite a nice time with chemist I find surviving with him a nice challenge. Since aim isnt requierd survival is the real challenge I find it quite ballanced. Edit: dear chump sizzle i hope you get Sun pulse-d
The chemist should have their damage nerfed to 25, and given a longer cone with a lingering effect like alien flower, that lingers for two seconds and deals 10 every second
Using Mr JT and SerahDee60's opinions is a bit unfair since they play on PC, which generally unfavours melee characters. And using ChumpSizzle's opinion is unfair, simply because he's ChumpSizzle

Maybe his DPS isn’t comparable to other scientists, and maybe he’s a free kill at a distance, but once you’re in range very few plants can match his consistency, and unless you’re trying to duel a full health Torchwood then he has many advantages that only skilled players will be able to beat.
chemist is my favorite scientist, shotgun go boom, what else could you want
With that said here is the scenario (both have damage, reload and ammo upgrades):
It's Turf Takeover and there are 5 plants on the point which are 1 Sunflower, 1 Peashooter, 1 Corn, 1 Chomper and 1 Citron.
The Chemist had a TIC of ~3 seconds.
meanwhile
The Marine Biologist warps in and is blasting the Sunflower, "bang!" "bang!" Sunflower is vanquished, next is the Peashooter, "bang!" bang!" "bang!" Peashooter vanquished, next is the Corn, "bang!" "bang!" reloads for 2 seconds, "bang!" Corn is vanquished, next is the Chomper, "bang!" "bang!" "bang!" "bang!" Chomper is vanquished, lastly is the Citron "bang!" "bang!" "bang!" reloads for 2 seconds "bang!" Citron is vanquished.
@@LtDarkRing still a great vid tho! Well done!

However, the longer you play with him, and the farther up the skill tree you climb, the weaker he becomes in comparison to other characters like Musketeer, executioner, flying machine, etc…
All that to say, I think he's stronger than anyone truly will ever admit, and that he is probably somewhere around 3-5 for his scientist ranking.
Actually Chemist is a situational character, mostly use to against rose or use in small area to fight
Lol beakers go: Pew pew!
He’s like the chomper of scientists
Me personally, I’m Zoologist enjoyer. I think he’s both easy and challenging to use and is very rewarding
26:13 Lt Dark Ring: you can kill chemist before hes reach to you
chemist on gameplay: a kill everynone and win this game
Playing Chemist is like eating junk food.
It tastes great but truly, it's bad for you.
when the chemist gets to close, your life will flash before your eyes.
I don't think he is even close to the bottom tier characters. Chemist is consistant, has decent dps, a giant splash-like area and he will most likely take down anything that isn't a torchwood.
the chemist is basically gw2's lighting reed from pvz2
Honestly my opinion it is basically situational and 99% percent of people panic when meeting a scientist unless if they are the bbq tree man or iron citron
Lol, I don't even notice that I'm taking damage until I'm already dead.
Nice video dude, i can recommend you more top pc players if you plan on making more videos like this.
I might do more character specific ones if enough people are interest in them.
@@LtDarkRing One of the options is toxic pea

26:05 teleport: Am I joke to you?
Chemist has a special ability where it can 2 shot mood shield.
I have a question. When you finish your tier list series are you going to make a video where you get every character in the game and rank them? I would be pretty interested into seeing you opinion on some variants
My opinion on chemist is he is the best scientist to play if your new good spread reliable damage but others are defo better
He is a glass cannon, but when the stars align, and you see a bunch of light classes, death to all.
As a pvz gw2 fan chemist is the 2nd or 1st best scientist
I swear the chemist got the tf2 shortstop treatment. They both got nerfed to hell. And it is funnier how they are both shotguns.
In My opinion he is the fourth best scientist in the game or even the best plus no character is good or bad it’s just how people play them like some people can say that toxic brains is garbage and argue. He is the best character in the game.
Chemist is still fun this won't change anything I do
Well atleast he can do graveyard ops pretty well.
I love chemistry

Chemist was always a questionable character,i was never a big fan of not having a long range beam, but it always felt like a strange preformance at close, like i enjoyed being able to hit multiple people, but it just felt strange compared to someone like zoo, marine or stock
Yeah I prefer choosing something like Astronaut Scientist purely because it has range, and because of that I can help support allies shooting from a long range
Im pretty sure all (except astro) have a close range shotgun in addition to their normal attack

Hes decent
@@Lambchahp yeah every scientist is decent in my opinion. There is a line between not the best and bad
My take on this character is fun and like being braindead it's kinda like rose sometimes you just don't wanna think and chemist kinda exemplifies that since well you don't have to aim so like basically the gameplay is hold the joystick forward or hold w and just shoot
It’s as simple as: high tier in low level lobbies (aka 90% of GW2 lobbies) and low tier in high level lobbies
ok but why did you make it have a horror aesthetic
WHOOOO CHUMP IS HERE
Hes a character who *has* to be played differently from the other scientist
It's like trying to play hotrod like stock chomper, or like playing commando like stock pea
People when Chemist doesn’t play the role healer: 😡
People when any other Scientist that isn't Astronaut doesn’t play the role of healer: ☺️
people will call chemist bad and then give dr. toxic a pass
fun fact, the damage upgrade in garden warfare 1 is bugged and it didn't make the chemist do extra damage. it has never been fixed either
Chemist would probably be cracked in ops because it's full of low HP targets
The ammo would get him
Chemist should get an hp buff to 125 (if roadie z can get 25 extra so can chemist)
I agree
Nah imagine how annoying that will be. Plus Chemist is already better than Roadie anyway, as soon as Roadie loses his jackhammer he's dead
He needs an initial burst nerf to 25 damage, but a cone length increase and a 2 second lingering cloud that deals 10 every second.
I mean it just makes sense
Physicist seems like a direct upgrade to chemist tbh
I'd be inclined to agree if Chemist didn't completely overshadow Physicist's gimmick, given Physicist's chain lightning is 10. It's basically a choice of hitting 60 on one enemy and 10 on a few around versus hitting 40 damage on everything with a slightly faster ROF
Physicist sucks, direct downgrade to every other one (except zoologist and astro, bite me)
Maybe i never get the right situations (maybe)
Or i dont know how to play him (most likely)
But i never can do anything with him
Chemist isn't bad, it's just not (and will never be) the best scientist
Yeah. In GW1 it's easily Marine, in GW2 it's out of Computer, Marine and Astronaut but I'm going with Computer because of his stupid quick reload
Chemist is just fun. He’s like playing with the phlogistonator in tf2. Good and terrible at the same time
Try this chemist upgrades and abilities?
1st and 2nd upgrade slots should be Reload speed the 3rd damage upgrade
Abilities
Healing optional
Default Teleport
Sticky bomb
Throw sticky bomb at your enemies and shot the rest.
Makes the chemist better.
I Use chemist as a trap character.
Kill enemy run throw sticky bomb then the group comes take like 50 or 100 damage then take out the rest yourself.
I had quite a nice time with chemist
I find surviving with him a nice challenge.
Since aim isnt requierd survival is the real challenge I find it quite ballanced.
Edit: dear chump sizzle i hope you get Sun pulse-d
This was very well made
I feel sorry for the Chemist. I think they should kept the damage of 40.
He does do 40 damage with the upgrade, his damage upgrade on GW1 is literally useless.
The chemist should have their damage nerfed to 25, and given a longer cone with a lingering effect like alien flower, that lingers for two seconds and deals 10 every second
I love this video and I actually like the chemist
the only reason the chemist is bad is because of outhouse zombies
Great video!
just wanna remind you that this aint a hhorror movie
you don't need spoopy sound effects
¡Nice documentary!
What website do you use to get the stats for the characters?

Using Mr JT and SerahDee60's opinions is a bit unfair since they play on PC, which generally unfavours melee characters.
And using ChumpSizzle's opinion is unfair, simply because he's ChumpSizzle
True, plus I could've done with a more diverse sample size than just 4, especially with 3 being on PC and only 1 on console.
As for the other one... This was made prior to everything that happened...

This is so sick I myself believe chemist is great especially in turf
Chemist is okay near the bottom class of his class but definitely not one the of the worse characters i'm kinda tired of people making the conclusion that worse of class characters are automatic f tiers. I play max sens with no aim assist and can hit every shot with any scientist I really don't see how trading damage for easier shots is a good argument. HOWEVER I will tell a little secret people play Chemist wrong, yes playing as dps is the right move but as Chemist you should be always be fighting behind walls and jiggle peaking to abuse his wide spread.
I remember unlocking the chemist and thinking hes busted (i was wrong)
Compared to Chemist
Zoologist is more skillful but more rewarding
I wont deny, it takes more skill to use zoologist, but that’s because his damage isn’t enough to drop most plants in a single clip.
for me he's better on console than pc since on console a lot of people aim more poorly than pc players do overall. not saying everyone, just a lot.
Okay... Listen. I love the documentary and all. But you didn't include a single TH-camr that was on team chemist, even though you said at the start of the video that you would. I'm sorry. Dark Ring, but ya done goofed on this one.
