I was just there two weeks ago. Tulum is not budget friendly, nor for backpackers. I stayed at a decent hotel to south of town called Barrio Negro on main highway and they had a room sale on, sometimes with AIr and other times with hotel booking sites. With tax, about $50 but it can run much higher. Great pool and across the street from Gypsea Market and Digital Jungle (a work sharé and high speed internet hangout). Also a coffee/bakery shop, boutique gift shop, and wine store (Off the Vine) in this complex. About a ten minute bike ride on 307 from hotel to a couple of cool cenotes - Crystal and Escondido. Not too crowded especially Escondido. I ended up walking down the beach path as I thought it was only 20/25 minutes. It’s actually closer to 50 minutes to the T intersection but the path is quite nice for bikes and much shorter. However, most of the rental bikes don’t have real brakes but you have to use the pedals to stop. Not the safest way to ride. You can buy new ones around town for 2k pesos or about $100 with brakes and worth it if you are planning a longer stay. Then sell it somehow to friends you meet along the way or one of the rental shops. There are a couple great food parks around town. Ask a local. One is called las palmas on Kulikulcan. He is right, the hotel prices on the beach are obscene. I stayed there in 2002 for a fraction of the price but those little cabana style places no longer exist. Taqueria Honorio in town is a great taco joint but only open in morning around 8 to 1:30pm. Yes, taxi to beach is about $10 from downtown to Tulum beaches. No haggling like he said. A great steak restaurant is Asadero in the center. Their flat iron steak is their specialty. About 350 pesos. Best mojito I have ever had at Batey’s. A new bar on Polar(is) is called The Door/ Social Club. Part of a hostel or only next door to one. Not sure but a cool looking place. Love how the streets are named after signs of the Zodiac or constellations... Enjoy!

Tulum is beautiful but I found it to be a tourist trap. Not to say you can't have fun there but I find most of Northern Quintana Roo is too expensive. After Akumal however is quite fun.
Not sure when you recorded this, but no one seems too worried about you know what. Meanwhile here in Canada we have stopped all flights to the Caribbean and Mexico until April 30th. Hope you stay safe.
Great beach! One of my favorites. I recommend checking out Akumal and taking the short hike from there to Yal Ku Lagoon. Also if it is open the Xal-Ha water park is really amazing. I am not usually a fan of water parks but Xal-Ha is more like an echo park, it's huge, would take all day to see the whole place.

85 dollars a night is kinda crazy for a “backpackers paradise”. A lot of the backpacker spots from the 90s/00s seem to have turned into these sad, exploited places where they’re basically charging for old merits. I think it’s time to move on from them, personally. Cheap and fresh is what you’re looking for as a backpacker, not this. (Sorry for being such a Debbie Downer)
I agree too. I like to think that the majority is always wrong. There's a ted talk on that i think. Paradise is not the same for everyone anyway. And there's no many backpackers these days. You will find more people traveling with their own wheels.
You should try Isla Holbox while you are in the area. I would love to hear your thoughts comparing these two places. I believe Holbox might be more to your liking!!

Really useful tip about how to avoid your stuff getting stolen at the beach. 🙌😎
Nice beach. Ruins are great too if you visit. Of course, Coba ruins in forest are much better. Was there a few times. Are you going to Belize ?
Not going to Belize this trip but I was there before: th-cam.com/users/gabejedmosearch?query=Belize
So nice wish I was there.
When Gabriel suggests hiding your wallet and keys in the sand and then you see the guy at 13:32 in the center of your screen 😂
Looks epic. Great music 🎶.
WOW wayyyyy too many people, thank you Gabriel for giving us the Intel! I think I'll pass!
Tulum is a nice place to be at!!!
Hey brother man...Looks so nice and warm! WOW! Finally hit 60 deg today in Albania was shocked ha! Was looking for footwear today, I can see why you rate it so high..my arches are dying...Hard to find good foot gear here..ugggg. That room was high price agreed. Lots of nice ladies there where you are, place looks very busy. I would have thought better prices , but with so much demand no need to lower the price I guess. Be safe! Oh almost forgot..for crying out loud, hit half a million subs already ...so I can congratulate you ;>)
Right on man, enjoy Albania, sounds pretty cool. Speaking of cool it's 28F where I am now, total change of scene. I'm only adding around 5,000 subs per month right now, so it'll be a while until I get to 500k.
27:38 The rock is limestone, formed when the sea level was much higher.
Very funky like your music 🎶🎼 playlist very nice
85 dollars a night is kinda crazy for a “backpackers paradise”. A lot of the backpacker spots from the 90s/00s seem to have turned into these sad, exploited places where they’re basically charging for old merits. I think it’s time to move on from them, personally. Cheap and fresh is what you’re looking for as a backpacker, not this. (Sorry for being such a Debbie Downer)
I was shocked too after being in SE Asia for a while.
I agree too. I like to think that the majority is always wrong. There's a ted talk on that i think. Paradise is not the same for everyone anyway. And there's no many backpackers these days. You will find more people traveling with their own wheels.
Amazing how all these young people can afford these place? Must be all high income earners.🤭
Wish I could be in Tulum now as well!
You should try Isla Holbox while you are in the area. I would love to hear your thoughts comparing these two places. I believe Holbox might be more to your liking!!
Have you ever tried Ayahuasca ?
The blue gradiente water are som beautiful. Where is cool Tulum or Baxa California?
Feet in the soft beach sand 🏖
Crystal clear blue 💙 water
Warm relaxing sunshine 🌞
Palm trees 🌴
Smell of lovely salt water and fresh air
Sounds of happy 😊 people
Life is wonderful !!!
Looks like you are upscaling to a nice resort style hotel rooms from those sleazy hostels. Good job.
I preferred the backpacker life to bourgeoise decadence, but to each his own.
I was thinking the same, but figure all the cheap destinations are probably shut down. It's nice to see places I couldn't really afford.
@@bucktaylor1667 He just makes more money now from YT so he can afford it.
I was there a few ago in Tulum and the Quintana Roo area when you were in Baja California Sur! It was surprisingly busy even tho it was my first time visiting. Cool place regardless, but not sure if I will return there
Great video.. Thanks for the share. Have a great day!
How did you get to Tulum from Punta Cana?
A short explanation video might be useful.
Arent there flights there?
Flew from Punta Cana to Fort Lauderdale, then to Cancun.
For me is perfect, this is just 1 of 3 or 4 nice beaches around, i have been in palawan, Nassau, Varadero and miami and this beach and atmosphere is way better
