Greg and Marcia Brady battle over who gets to make the attic their bedroom! #BradyBunch | Now streaming on Paramount+ Where to watch: para.mt/BradyBunch
But there was a window that would be able to be opened. To sleep at the window in the summer...?! Well, I am pretty sure a bunk bed would need to be used. And to move it near the window. But then again, Greg and Marcia would be arguing over who gets the top (as it is by the window).
If Dad is such a great architect, why didn't he redesign the attic to make 2 more rooms? I don't think they would mind if the rooms were small; it's privacy they wanted.
He designed a house with two bathrooms one we assumed one off the master bedroom and the other had no toilet. And a windowless room next to the washer and dryer for the maid
Exactly! It never made sense to only give it to one of them. They even had it planned that she would take one side and he would take the other. Mike the architect could have drawn up the plans and hired builders to fix it up. Why is this even a problem with such an obvious solution?
Funniest post of the day, bro, but to be honest with you, Oliver was walking in all of a sudden Alice walks in and says OK. You can have my old bedroom near the kitchen. I’m sick and tired of it. This is my new crib.😂
Sorry Marcia... Greg should have it, yes, because he is older. She is not being penalized for being younger. Greg had to wait just as long to get to the age he is. And tears are blackmail. (And why do all six kids need a turn, anyway? Eventually the youngest ones will have the second-floor rooms to themselves, won't they??)
This would not help Greg and Marcia, but when the family is down to, say, three kids, why would they need Alice? Someone could have her room. I'm sure Carol can handle three children without a housekeeper. (Not that I'd be lobbying to lose Alice... She's the best!)
@@kaitiscarlett9022 I guess for the same reason Mike and his late wife had Alice when there were only 3 boys. You don't expect Carol to do any housework, do you? LOL
1:25 That seems fair to me too. I mean, Greg can have the attic room for a year and when he leaves for college, Marcia can have it. Plus, it works out perfectly, Greg and Marcia’s brothers want Greg to move out of their room. While Greg and Marcia’s sisters don’t want Marcia to move out of their room anyways. Well, not yet anyways. So, yes, Mike and Greg’s plan could work out. 🤷♂️

On an earlier episode when Greg wanted his own room, it was mentioned by the architect Mike Brady that the attic ceiling was only 2 feet high. If this aired new today, I vote the room goes to Airb n b.
It was only 2 feet high when there was stuff in it. once the stuff was removed, there was more space! but weirdly not enough space for TWO teenage rooms.
That had been my way of making sense of the apparent continuity error as well. Otherwise it wouldn't have made sense for anyone to have even mentioned the attic in the earlier episode.
When Mike says the attic will to to Greg, then Marcia, then Peter, then Jan, and then all the rest ... I always think he is referring to the Professor and Mary Anne from Gilligan's Island (as they were called "the rest" in the original theme song for that show).
They are making do with what they have lol. It was an unusual situation for the kids from two families to have to live in one house. Houses were not built to accomodate the offspring from two sets of parents.
The actors were 18 and 20 by this point. I think the younger boys should have shared it and Greg have the boys room. Then Marcia gets Greg’s room the next year. Or their architect dad could convert it to 2 more bedrooms. But why? Three of the kids would be out of the house in 3 years anyway. In the early 70’s almost no one had their own room. That happened when they moved out. No wait they married or had a room mate. This was just to make room for Oliver. Still even with Oliver the three younger kids could have had the large attic and Greg the boys room. Or put all the girls up there and give the younger boys the girls room that was larger.
The attic now has a real window (1:00). One thing I don't get is the plant growing outside. It looks more like a shrub, or a tree with narrow branches. How has it grown so tall to reach the third floor? Is the house sinking? Anyway, the kids are now old enough to take over much of the housework. Fire Alice and give her room to one of them, and the other can move back into the den. It beats sleeping in the attic.
I'd be ok with the attic except for 2 things. The walls are gakky so repaint them or wallpaper them. But it would be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Maybe the heating and AC don't reach so far.
Their house is weird. The kids bathroom has a door to the boys and girls rooms. But the hallway has two doors between the doors to boys and girls rooms and neither of them seem to lead to the kids bathroom.
It's not impossible. I inherited my family home. There is a shrub and another kind of plant/tree that were planted by my mother around 1960ish. When I was a little boy, they didn't even reach the front windows. NOW they were actually over the roof they grew so tall in 60 years. I just had them trimmed way back.
If you look at the house "type" from outside, that home actually does not have even one staircase let alone another to the attic, what attac? The picture of the family inside on a staircase is baloney. A split level home has a step or two that's it.

Well, you know Greg and Marcia sharing the attic was later referenced in the BRADY BUNCH movies (from the BRADY BUNCH film series). It was A VERY BRADY SEQUEL (the second and final movie in the film series --after THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE). But in S4's "A Room at the Top", I would have played completely different if that had been the case. That is, if Greg and Marcia both wanted to move into the attic. I was like, "What if they made the area by the window Marcia's and the other part Greg's like I imagined?". They could use curtains to show whose half of the attic was whose. And if Marcia wanted to have her sleepover with the six other girls, that definitely would belong in Marcia's half of the attic. (NOTE: The next year would be Peter and Jan in the attic, and the third and final year Bobby and Cindy. That is, during their years of grades 10-12. Then they would be in the same pattern as Greg and Marcia. The boy's half would be by the wall and the girl's would be by the window.) So the attic should have been one boy and one girl each time (has to be the oldest age). In S4's "A Room at the Top", Greg was 18 and Marcia was 16. (NOTE: That would mean in S4, Greg was 18, Marcia was 16, Peter was 15, Jan was 14, Bobby was 12, and Cindy was 10.) The oldest boy and girl could share it and be room mates. After both Greg and Marcia moved out, it would be Peter and Jan, AND after both Peter and Jan moved out it would be Bobby and Cindy's turn. The attic only would be room for two kids. And if I were in Greg's position and Marcia wanted the attic too, I would bury the hatchet. Then I would decide it could be me and Marcia first, then Peter and Jan (after both me and Marcia moved out), AND finally Bobby and Cindy (after both Peter and Jan moved out). Marcia would have just needed to use her half of the attic if she wanted to continue having sleepovers. (NOTE: When Marcia said "slumber party", she was referring to the S2 episode "The Slumber Caper".) I would just have to use curtains to divide the attic in half.
Sherwood Schwarz's son said that they actually had to reshoot the scene sitting on the bed talking because there was too much flirtatious energy going on.

WTH was Carol thinkinhg promising the attic to Marcia? The eldest, and closest to exiting the family home is aways given priority. Its called the line of succession.
Yes, she did. After, Greg felt sorry her. But, Peter & Bobby worked up a scheme to give Greg back his attic by creating a fake phone call for Marcia so that she would have to run up & down the stairs to answer, every 30 seconds. Then finally, after pure exhaustion, Marcia gave back her attic to Greg. Plus, the scheme made her realized that it was only fair that Greg gets the attic because in one year he will be leaving for college.
@@alaricabercrombie2692 Oh, I kind of am remembering that fake phone call scheme now that you mentioned it. Hopefully this channel will upload that next or soon! Thanks for the info!!
By the time it would have been Bobby and Cindys turn to use the attic, there wluld have been no need for a attic bedroom. Greg, Marcia, Peter, and Jan would have all moved out . Bobby and Cindy would both have their own rooms.
If I were Greg, I would have just stayed in the den with that bedroom he created in an earlier episode. That would have been a great bedroom to have lol
It seems you wouldn't get much privacy there. I mean it was open to the living room just divided by shutters. It seems that house should have a guest bedroom. Where did the grandparents sleep and Cousin Emma? Greg COULD have taken the guest room since it was just for a year, and in the even someone visited, Greg could have temporarily moved back into his old bed room for a night or 2
I just saw the episode where Greg wanted to join the football team. I think Carol was unfair. He should have been allowed to play. You can get hurt in any sport. That’s just part of the game.
Marcia is different from those stereotypical bratty teenage daughters but sometimes she did have her moments of being over dramatic and whiny I agree with Mike and carol and Greg that him getting the room first since he'll be going to college anyway is fair and so will the tradition of the boys getting their room first before they go to college.
I remember one of the cast members saying that if there'd been a season 6, Marcia and Peter fighting over the attic room would have been a storyline, I don't see how Peter thought he should get it next unless he thinks since he's the next boy child in line
No, there were a few surrounding Peter and Jan. One was Peter's 'new personality' episode and the one where he got his picture in the paper for saving a little girls life. Jan had the one where SHE created a new personality with that wig, the one where she got all upset because she thought she would look like Aunt Jenny when she got older and the one where she had the middle child syndrome.
@retroguy9494 I meant, there are not many episodes with the two of them as a duo, whether they were discussing or working together like Greg and Marcia or Bobby and Cindy.
@@fergonzalez5670 I honestly wish there had been a Jan and Bobby pair-up.... to me Jan and Bobby had quite a bit common, both dealing with inferiority issues. They both had similar episodes. Bobby felt like he could never win and was too short, Jan felt like she had no talent, and both Jan and Bobby resented that they had no trophies to show for anything.... *though it was sorta a goof, because when Bobby was going through his crisis, Jan had trophies which fueled Bobby's sadness* Peter got paired up with Cindy a couple of times, so I think Jan and Bobby as a team would have worked well.... The one time I recall Peter and Jan was when Peter and Jan were practicing to be Nurse and Doctor. Jan also helped Peter with his magic act
For a minute there, I thought I was listening to Jan instead of Marcia. No matter, she'll be hightailing it back downstairs after the first 80+ degree day.
Why would they even want the attic? There’s no drywall up there, which very likely means it isn’t heated or cooled. And there’s no bathroom up there either.
I saw a movie once about a blended family where the husband had a teen boy and the wife had a teen girl and now they're all in the same house. The two teens fell in love and everyone was giving them grief because they were "related." There was no blood between them! There would have been no problem with them getting married someday but at this point they were only 16 and 17.

So the attic should have been one boy and one girl each time (has to be the oldest age).
Yeah, but marcia and greg were busy making out between takes in this episode. lol imagine greg in the next room with her slumber party
feel the s0xtual tension between them?
Sherwood Schwarz's son said that they actually had to reshoot the scene sitting on the bed talking because there was too much flirtatious energy going on.
@@abertasso1298 Plus Maureen flubbed that last line 'you're the greatest brother a girl ever had.' It came out 'you're the greatest LOVER a girl ever had'
Greg needs the attic to make music because he wants to be a professional singer ......" Clowns never laughed before. Bean stalks never grew"........hahahaha
That was before he became the new Johnny Bravo!
The attic? No, thanks. Having to go up and down all of those stairs to use the bathroom, the phone, the kitchen.
When they renovated the attic to make it 2 rooms they could put in a small bathroom with just sink and toilet M&G could share.
@@alondralabute2310 just a sink. No toilets needed or allowed.
It was only 2 flights of stairs.
lol There were like 8 steps. Not that many.
Greg now has been arrested the hidden camera he set up
No A/C ducts in the attic and I needs my A/C.
WTH was Carol thinkinhg promising the attic to Marcia? The eldest, and closest to exiting the family home is aways given priority. Its called the line of succession.
Did she really end up getting the room? I can't remember.
@@loveforeignaccents Sure, you're welcome 😊👍
Marcia was bloody good looking
Would be happy to share the attic with Marcia.
And so ends the fourth season.
I love smoking pot and watching classic shows like this one
In the real house the room looks exactly the same. It's on an elevated floor but it's not an attic.
By the time it would have been Bobby and Cindys turn to use the attic, there wluld have been no need for a attic bedroom. Greg, Marcia, Peter, and Jan would have all moved out . Bobby and Cindy would both have their own rooms.
Houses have the typical 3 bedrooms only. The problem could've been solved. If there were only 2 kids not 6. 😂
Greg COULD have taken the guest room since it was just for a year, and in the even someone visited, Greg could have temporarily moved back into his old bed room for a night or 2
@@jonnaking3054 Since Alice was away for vacation Cousin Emma probably had her room !
" Let Marcia get the attic. "
I just saw the episode where Greg wanted to join the football team. I think Carol was unfair. He should have been allowed to play. You can get hurt in any sport. That’s just part of the game.
Greg got the attic first because he's the oldest Brady kid
Greg didn’t stick to his original design plan for the space. The bed wound up on the opposite side of the room.
Marcia looked just like my daughter 😢❤
The Brady love trump great awaking
There's no much storylines with Peter and Jan such as Greg and Marcia or Bobby and Cindy. Maybe it's because they are the middle child
@@jonnaking3054 Jan NEVER felt inferior because she didn’t have any. Trophies 🏆 just felt like she didn’t have any talent
For a minute there, I thought I was listening to Jan instead of Marcia.
No matter, she'll be hightailing it back downstairs after the first 80+ degree day.
This episode took forever to film because they were acting more like boyfriend/girlfriend than brother/sister.
Greg want the attic
Why would they even want the attic? There’s no drywall up there, which very likely means it isn’t heated or cooled. And there’s no bathroom up there either.
True. But I guess to teenagers, that was 'groovy.'
It looked like Greg had a half bathroom at least behind the beads, there's a sink at least
Doesn't matter - there's no toilet in the bathroom between the kids bedrooms either!!😂
I wouldn't make Marcia go ANYWHERE
Marcia's not manipulative at all...oh noooooo 🙄🙄🙄🙄 You know, they could have shared the room 😉 heh heh
Why don't the both of you share❤❤❤❤❤❤
I forget what happened in this episode. Didn’t Greg wind up in that room after all?
Yes, remember this isn’t the last episode, episodes after this one show greg in his new room.
Wahhh😂😂😢😢Little princess
If this was 2024 ,move the 4 youngest to attic
Hey! I know!
How about we let the teenagers who aren't actually related share the attic? What could go wrong?
I saw a movie once about a blended family where the husband had a teen boy and the wife had a teen girl and now they're all in the same house. The two teens fell in love and everyone was giving them grief because they were "related." There was no blood between them! There would have been no problem with them getting married someday but at this point they were only 16 and 17.
@@alondralabute2310was this the one with Megan Follows?
@@cici2562 I don't remember who the actors were, the name of the movie or anything. Just the story. That's very typical of me. I wish I was better at remembering titles of both books and movies.
I just looked up Megan Follows on the IMDB site (International Movie Data Base) which has lists of everything an actor has been in. You're right, the movie was named "Sin of Innocence" a TV movie from 1986. I only remembered Megan Follows from the "Anne of Green Gables" movies.
Marcia was bit of a drama queen
Peter and Bobby ticked Marcia off going up and the stairs😊
You know, theyre not technically related. They can both use the attic and have some fun too
Denny smh lol
Im the movie they did
The funny thing is; in real life Maureen had the hots for Barry. So I could just imagine how that would play out! LOL
@@retroguy9494 They said all the kids did, also Jan and Peter, and even Cindy and Bobby had a little crush on each other lol
@@jonnaking3054 Plus (and a lot of people don't believe this but it's true) Greg once took Carol out on a date! He had a crush on HER!
And that, girls, is how you get what you want 😮
Just share the room you two.
I am sure in reality the two of them would be happy to share the same room as well as share a bed
Marcia was such an entitled brat.
The sexual tension between them couldn't be more awkward.
Marcia is so selfish not to mention the sexist comments. We all know she just wants some privacy while she busts out the lines.
*...WHAT DID I SAY!???* (1:24) ...what, did SHE say!?? (1:47) ...Jan would like some CHOICE words with you, Girl! ...ha-HAA!! ....jeezus, whatta WHINER (2:33).......
It’s interesting how all the kid actors were really good on this show. But they could not act as adults. Anybody else wonder why that was?
I wonder if Greg had some wood when Marcia gave him a hug and a kiss?
Greg was trying to get into Marcia's pant's off screen during this time.
Details please!!!!!
