    LS3 with the hot cam. Headers, custom 3” stainless exhaust with a crossover right behind the transmission, and magna flow mufflers mounted as far back as possible. Budnik Remington L wheels; 20x10 rear & 18x8 fronts that were fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires; 295/35/20 rear & 255/40/18 fronts. Professionally designed/engineered custom chassis with adjustable Ride-Tech coil-overs, DSE power rack & pinion, 6th gen Corvette spindles with a 1" sway bar up front; out back there's a 4 link rear suspension with aluminum panhard bar holding a custom 9" rear housing with a Moser center section, & Moser axles. Basically everything on the car was brand new with the exception of the body and trim, which was the original that was all stripped down and repainted and re-chromed.

    When I was a teenager my neighbor Mr. Percy had a black 57 Belair that was as clean as the one in this podcast. He drove it everyday. The thing I remember the most was it had red interior and was a factory three speed on the column. That car was rare and included the first year for the 283 engine. The 55 and 56 came with the 265 engine and the 58 was a one off year with the 348 engine. The 59 and up used the 283, 327, 409, 396, 350, 302, 396, 454 and 400.

    • @randallbeasley646

      The 348 was around longer than 1958

    • @bamahammer3660
      @bamahammer3660 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@randallbeasley646 1958 is the only year Chevy produced that engine. Like any engine people properly modified the engine a few years after production to increase horse power. But Chevy actually followed with the 283 and 327 in which both were better engines than the 348. Both the 265 and 348 engines were extremely heavy cast iron engine. Most people felt during the early sixties that the 327 was the best engine chevy had made because you could order a 327 that produced 325 HP or 375 HP. When Chevy introduced the big block 409 that generated 425-475 HP many early NASCAR racers used that engine in their race cars with little modification. During that time frame anyone could order a car from GM with one of these small block or big block high HP engines ready to race or smoke the back tires. I think I have said enough regarding this subject. By the way my first car was a1964 SS Impala with a 427 engine.

    That is the most beautiful 57 ive ever seen. my Dad bought a brand new 57 convertible teal color white top.That summer we went from the east coast to california to visit Moms family. Of course Moms
    new car was the topic of conversation. We didnt have it long. Mom wanted a station wagon. She got the ugliest car ever. Powder blue 59 ford. 67 I graduated
    high school and left home. finally Got a drivers license. First car was a 59 plymouth
    Belvedere. 2 dr, 318, red and black push button drive and rear view mirror mounted on the dash. 19,000 miles, like new.
    $200 big ones. Would
    love to have now. Gave it to my brother when I joined the navy to see the world. He wrecked it twice, Totaled the second time but not a scratch on him.it Is amazing
    how we American Boys love our cars. The one id love to have in a garage was my 1970 Chevy Chevelle. SS
    396, 375 HP Silver with factory black striping. it was not known at the time but was later part of the muscle car start from the factory. Love them cars.

    I built model cars in the late 50’s . The doors would open, the steering wheel would turn the front wheels, the trunk and hood would open. The dashboard was very detailed. If it was four doors, all the doors would open. I also painted the car . My favorite car was the 1957 Chevrolet. It was the coolest hot rod on the street. The models engine was very detailed. Though I was more upset with my parents throwing out my complete collection of baseball cards. From 1958-1961 I also was upset with losing all my model cars, WW 2 aircraft and ships.
