Once again, I would like to congratulate Nigel on this fabulous award that recognises his huge contribution to the industry over the years. And Steph & Richard: what an excellent film!
Glad I watched this on TH-cam just to see that blink and you miss moment when Nigel has another realisation that this was all happening to him! So well deserved . Top man!
What a thoroughly engrossing piece. I was totally absorbed from start to finish. So nice to see Barry Doe there too. I was only wondering how he was going on the other day. Used to love the ‘fare dealer’ part of Rail.
The honour is palpable. The effort from the multitude of people is humbling. It’s there on the side moving the often forgotten commerce of the country . A true work horse just like the work Nigel did for the benefit of the rail industry. A fitting point in a memorable career that is continuing here on Green Signals. Enjoy it, it was well earned over time. Amacf
Congrats Nigel, what a great honour to have a 'Shed' named after you. Lovely video as always Green Signals team, keep up the good work. Best wishes also to 66312 'Nigel Harris', may it have have many productive years to come.
Something I found really interesting, from the planning of the day, to the casting of the plates then the actual day itself, these things don’t just happen do they? Look forward to seeing more content from you lovely people 👍🏼 Stef, Nigel and Richard please keep the good work up 👍🏼
Brilliant! Nigel is obviously a man of taste - the Betjeman is always my watering hole of choice when staying in the Kings X area, usually when Eurostarring to and from Europe. And I do envy having your own pub in your back garden! Vince C
Very lovely tribute to Nigel which is well deserved, great idea making this video. Just shows all the effort needed, but really how does anyone make sense of that screen showing the live train movements!
This video was beyond excellent and well deserved to a true railway man through and through ,as some one who has had rail in my blood for over 50 years this was excellent
Fascinating insight into a behind-the-scenes process that has happened so many times over the years, something we mere mortals often only became aware of when Nigel's Rail Magazine broke the news to us all, in print, a few weeks later, so thank you all for sharing this momentous occasion with us. I'm sure most, if not all, of us are incredibly envious of Nigel receiving this finest of accolades, which is so richly deserved! Hopefully the "Nigel Harris" nameplates will be seen across the network for many, many years to come, whether on 66312 for a very long time or some possible successor as sometimes happens.
Thank you all! Absolutely fascinating - who knew just how much planning is required for a naming ceremony? The Green Signals membership is worth every penny for behind the scenes documentaries like this!
Thanks so much Brian. We couldn't believe just how much planning was required either! The team at GB Railfreight were just amazing. We're delighted that you're enjoying membership and thank you so much for supporting us.
Thank you all for putting this together. The timetabling part really interested me. A subject I have a great interesting but I think I was thinking like Nigel just how much work has gone into it
Another brilliantly informative video. I would never have guessed that so much preparation is required for this ceremony. I am still learning so much, even with my advanced years, about the subject I love.
After the last Green Signals, I was wondering if the oft-mentioned Steff (Steph?) was real or like the Lovely Samantha from "I'm Sorry I Haven't a clue". Now we know 😎
Excellent! Seeing what goes on behind the scenes is always good. Would you be able to do 'a day in the life of...' for different roles in the industry? - although it looks like you've got a lot on your plate as it is!
Interesting. I have listened to it again and although there are couple of places where I can detect the gate opening on the voice isolation filter if I listen carefully on monitoring headphones, i cant hear any oscillation. Could you give me an example with a time point?
@GreenSignals Nigel, it depends on which area of the country you were in. South of the river, they were luna lights, feathers in north West. Routers in the Northern area. But when doing signal sighting, we needed a common. name given by the rule book, junction indicator, was the best description. Sorry!
Nigel's great, isn't he? Great to see him enjoy this day and to see his name on the side of one of my favourite locos. Congratulations fella! 👍
Indeed he is!
Once again, I would like to congratulate Nigel on this fabulous award that recognises his huge contribution to the industry over the years.
And Steph & Richard: what an excellent film!
Thanks Stephen!
This is the kind of content and insider insight that makes Green Signals so good
Thanks Roy, that's really kind of you to say.
Glad I watched this on TH-cam just to see that blink and you miss moment when Nigel has another realisation that this was all happening to him! So well deserved . Top man!
Indeed so!

What a lovely comment, thanks very much!

A heart-warming tale.
Time for a limited edition OO gauge model to be manufactured!
Now there's an idea....
Well done Nigel and the team behind this event. Richly deserved.
Absolutely. Well done all round!

Nice one . Congratulations Nigel . We need a model release now so we can have our own Nigel Harris going round in circles !

Thanks Allan and agree - I thought i could read timetable planning screens but the ECML was challenging!
Fantastic video - great to see behind the scenes and a well deserved honour
Thanks Stuart, glad you enjoyed the look behind the scenes.
0:00:16 What a surprise; I didn't see that coming! 😀
This video was beyond excellent and well deserved to a true railway man through and through ,as some one who has had rail in my blood for over 50 years this was excellent
Great video a nice insight into the organisation of a naming. Well deserved Nigel congratulations.
Indeed!

A surreal day indeed but also a proud one. Well done!
Thank you!
Heartwarming stuff, great to see the very human side of the railway.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
A well deserved honour Nigel
Brilliant video, very interesting to see everything behind the scenes and very well edited. 👍
Thanks Sean. Appreciate the kind feedback.

Very, very real - and we are grateful for that fact every day!
Very interesting, thanks for this.
Thanks!
That was a wonderful and memorable edition.
(🤔when does the other side get unveiled?😎)
Brilliant episode, even I’ve learnt something new!
Looking for it on a daily basis coming into or through Toton I might end up getting excited and taking a snap when I spot it
Getting excited wen seeing NIgel. Now there's a thought.....!

Just waiting and hoping they'll put "312" on a nice grubby RHTT run now 😂
Well deserved Nigel , your turn next Mr Bowker
Oh, I very much doubt that John..... but great to see Nigel get named!
Fantastic for Nigel and a brilliant for the team at Green Signals
Fascinating viewing - I saw her run LE back north through Huntingdon, the side facing me was still covered with board! :(
Wow Nigel could have been done at platform9&31/4s that would have been wizard .
Congrats Nigel well deserved
lovely video. There seems to be a problem with the audio. which oscillates in and out.
Interesting. I have listened to it again and although there are couple of places where I can detect the gate opening on the voice isolation filter if I listen carefully on monitoring headphones, i cant hear any oscillation. Could you give me an example with a time point?
Congratulations Nigel
Dear video editors. Please call the "five white light Junction Indicator" the former or a "JI". Sorry to be a pedant. Chris Exley
That's fine Chris. It's good to be pedantic. But has the word 'feathers' never been used then?

Well done to everyone involved in filming the whole thing as well as describing how it happened. 10/10
