You haven’t really heard the music from the 60s and 70s. So many different styles of music. Every band was so different. From the Beatles thru The Kinks in the 70s. That was the true evolution of rock and roll. We need to send you suggestions for great music you have never heard. Southern rock to Hard rock…so much for you to explore.

Pentatonix are The Best at what they do. Please react to more. Some of my favorites are Lion King, Shallow, Seasons of Love. Sound of silence, Amazing Grace, and there's just so many more. And their covers, are a lot of times upgrades. I think you'll love their music and their outstanding talent. Seriously, you can't go wrong with anything you choose with them.

My fav a'cappella group is Straight No Chaser and would LOVE to see you react to some of their songs! They all left "real world" jobs to tour and create albums (some in entertainment, one was an assistant district attorney, etc). You can go to their TH-cam channel, but you can find tons of concert videos as well by searching their name plus song title (so you get to see their dance moves and interactions). They also did Reclusive Exclusives/Quarantine Sessions during the pandemic where they basically sang together via online "meetings" from their homes. ALL their music lives onmy iPod year-round, even their Christmas music. Some of my faves are:
The 12 Days of Christmas (their college video on TH-cam, labeled as "original from 1998", got them their record deal and the one labeled "2008 Version" is from a concert after getting their record deal; there are as many versions as there are concerts they've had becausethey change it up frequently - they also posted a video of fans singing their version of the song that's neat if you've seen SNC's first)
Christmas Can-Can (the one labeled "With A Special Greeting" on their channel you get a short version of their story)
    Lully Lullay (Coventry Carol)
    To Christmas! (The Drinking Song)
    Shut Up & Dance
Movie Medley (you definitely want the one from their site with the Star Wars image)
On the Road Again/I Play the Road
    The Lion Sleeps Tonight
All About That Bass (No Tenors)
    Ave Maria (Europe 2015)
    Carol of the Bells

Everyone your age, after listening to the music of the 60’s,70’s,80’s on TH-cam for awhile, always say I was born at the wrong time for real good music. That is no joke, but you would really have to listen to it on a daily basis.

You should check out their 2021 Christmas concert. Great live performances of Hallelujah, The Prayer, and Amazing Grace. Pentatonix doesn’t record anything they can’t do live.also, if you haven’t heard Kevin Olusola, beatboxed, play them hello you must! He’s classically trained.

Being able to appreciate things outside ones own experiences is a dying "Art". We are all attached to what we grew up with. But what came before and what may come after has merit too. Many millions of music lovers still go to Concerts of Bach and Vivaldi's music. Even though it is 500 years old. I wonder how much of the 1990's music will still be "popular" in 500 years?. Being "familiar" does not always mean being "good". Thanks for your reactions. Your Channel is a favorite in our household.

I highly recommend "Daft Punk" as that is the song they got their first Grammy from and was one of their original hits. I think it pretty much made them as a musical group. I'd also recommend the song "Sing" as it is one of their original songs. One of the things I love about this video is that before the 1960s everything was in black and white but they went to color when the music hit the time the color TV was born. Great Job! Keep up the good work!

Breathtaking and joyous ! Music = memories. Music just adds so much to our lives. One of the pleasures of aging is that my jukebox continues to expand through the years. Most of us mark history by the music that is playing from that era. Our history starts when we listen to music.

Personally my taste in music is still from my youth the 60's, 70's 80's and early 90's, the hey day of rock. I will have to send a bunch to Millie to listen to. I like very little of today's music and with out auto tunes how good would it be, not saying none have talent but in my opinion it's not as good as back then.

My how they have grown into their sound., from the evolutions of, to Hallelujah, to Mary did you know, to Gramming winning Daft Punk, to the fun 90's medley, to the Sound of Silence, to a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace. They can do it all.

You also have to keep something else in mind - recordings of music/sounds have only existed commercially for about 100 years. In about half that, many recordings were not stereo. You are young, and have lived in an era where virtually all music falls into the digital category. You ALSO live in an era when music started mixing genres. Prior to that, music had to fit firmly into a genre or publishers would see that it never got played.

Just wanted to mention since you're doing their Evolution vids, there's a few more unofficial ones cause they aren't the whole group (& not meant to be a capella arrangements since there's often a piano). On Scott & Mitch's Superfruit channel they did a compilation of Lady Gaga, one of Miley Cyrus, & Beyonce's album they loved that came out after the PTX Evolution of her, & a couple more artists I can't think of at the moment.

I wish they had done more medieval and Renaissance music. They have such a wonderful choral sound; it would have been a good fit. So I am on the other scale from what you wish they had done! 😄 My era is the 60s and 70s but I also grew up listening to my parent’s music - 40s 50s and earlier. Pentatonix got me introduced to some of the newer music. Maybe they can introduce you to some of the older stuff!

I also wish they would do a longer video representing a few more of the old styles. Seemed like they were just hurrying up to get the the 60's and so on (with emphasis on the 90's & 2000's....but then they are young musicians themselves, so that would be their main interest!). Also, didn't care for their 2-second versions, everything is a sound-bite these days! LOL

Good call. The Evolution videos are the least likely to get copyright challenged by TH-cam. Also look at their 90s Dance Medley video, which also stands a decent chance of not getting copyright flagged. AFTER you work through those, be prepared to have to pause often in your Reaction videos, and cut away a lot to just play audio without a picture for big parts of it, because that's the only way the TH-cam copyright scanning won't screw you over. And maybe you might have to block the center of the image with a channel logo or something like that.

Several songs were unmistakable. RESPECT by Aretha Franklin, I Wanna Hold Your Hand by the Beatles, Thriller by Michael Jackson and obviously I Walk the Line by Johnny Cash. I don't know the bass singer's name, but he did Johnny proud in my opinion. I think that Johnny Cash had the longest active career of any of the people that Pentatonix highlighted in this video. Not only that, be he arguably had the best career also as evidenced by the fact that he was inducted into many major Hall of Fames (Rock & Roll, Country Music, Songwriters, Rockabilly and Gospel).

You must do theirs 90’s Dance Medley if you like 90’s music! It’s one of their best & you’d love it! As others have said, Daft Punk medley won them their first Grammy (they even changed the category to allow them in), Bohemian Rhapsody is a must! Although Kirstie & Mitch’s appearances change a lot, the only change in their lineup was when their bass,Avi, left in 2017 (on good terms for personal reasons) and was replaced by Matt. You will gain many followers by doing Pentatonix reactions. The Pentaholics following is strong!

Although Old Man River was a magnificent song, especially when seen in context with the musical it was in, it probably wasn’t a great example of the popular music of the 1920s, which in many cases was far more upbeat and fun. Other than that, they did a great job.

I'm always befuddled when I hear millennials or younger, admit to not knowing something, because they weren't born yet. When I was 18 or 19 I was cognizant of what came before. Music from the 30s and 40s and on.
With as much knowledge that's on a key stroke away
"Before being born" is easily accessible.
