Good review guys, I have the Dewalt one for a year now and very happy with it, I am a handyman and I don't do framing every day, but when I do, I get my Dewalt and it does the job, except for old hardwood posts or studs, then I have to unpack my Paslode air framer and compressor
There is depth adjustment on the paslode. It is a little "hidden". You pull up those two orange pieces on the nose, this releases a leaf spring. And then you pull the contact element forward or push it in.
Paslode wins hands down for the nozzle tip alone. We have both the Paslode and the Hilti in the trailer at work and 2 drawbacks on the Hilti are 1. The size of it, too big to be truly portable especially in tight. The nail rail makes it a pain in the ass to get in tight and skew nail into bottom plates in bathrooms/robes etc. 2. The nozzle is awful, circular with small teeth is just bad. Paslode has it sorted in both respects. Never tried the Makita, i've only heard bad things. from the Gold Coast and looking to grab the 18v Brushless Makita rotary, if you guys can do a review on that it'd be much appreciated! ps great channel, thanks for the videos.
Primarily I''m a mix engineer, but I love Carpentry and work on the side as an an electrician . I know i'm in the odd, but Ii'm in the screw and camplate crew. Festool user for all tool except the odd Bosch Blue. I was about to buy a Passlode, but After some extensive research in the UK, looks like Passlode i s on the way out. My Festool drill is shy of $500 so the Dewalt seems like it should be reasonable. I 'll be getting the dual package this weekend so will give a report back the coming Wednesday. I build Studios, so rigidity is usually my prime concern, but I've got A 2.5 Tone wall to erect in 2 days, so nails i the way I'm going. will keep you all updated on the pros on cons of each unit as the job progresses All the Best Daniel Comport ps. thanks for the great VIDS
I changed from using a paslode for years to the battery dewalt, And I have to say I really like it, using its bump mode feature I found that I could nail a sheet of 4x8 twice as fast as with the paslode.
If there was a hilti gun there, will you guys rate it as good as the rest. I am sick of fixing the paslode(not fire nails). I am planing to buy the hilti one. What do you think?
I used the Max for years , top gun , great nozzle to get in . I feel the difference between the Max and the Paslode , the max just had that bit of extra punch in power( +\- 5 % guessing ) , but for sure the Paslode had a nice feel about and is a bright orange colour to find at the end of the day when it's time to pack up . If I was buying gas gun again it would be the Paslode as it felt better in my hand .
makita one has a design flaw in the fan avoid, the fans always break apparently. happened to me and when i did some research i found many people to have same problem
i am a chippy and use to using all brands of nailer's i like the weight of the gas nailer's over battery nailers the issue i have with gas nailer's is on cold days they play up allot and you tend to waste time messing with them also gas goes off which in turn causes you to waste time messing with them you also have to clean them regular and the cleaning kits can be costly plus gas is expensive sure you can buy packs of nails that come with gas but i have never had a bottle of gas that has lasted through the pack so you always need to buy extra gas battery nailer's are heavy after a whole day using them you end up with shoulder and neck pains but they are so reliable as long as you have charge in your batteries they keep firing as a gripe i would say that you do need to keep min 3 batteries 1 on charge 1 in your gun and spare ready to go as i found out when skinning a roof i bought a dewalt brad nailer when they first came out nearly 10yrs ago and it is still going strong had no loss of power that i can tell of still fire's every time never really had any problems with it other than replacement batteries which is to be expected
james Lankester I have the Bosch gun, it's not bad, a bit slow and it's rather on heavy side but never had a problem with it (I've had it for over 2 years now)
I've either got a lucky gun or Paslode makes em better in Canada??? =/... I've framed with the Paslode outside all winter with no problems over multiple winters - once it gets below -15c (5f) you might have to do a quick double pump ... and as long as you keep it warm over night and clean your filters and gas chamber every 6 months(which you can do at home and not have to pay for service) your tool will be in top form - and I've dropped them from 10 ft, had them fall off ladders, slide across all types of surfaces with no problems to the electronics..... The Makita was great when I tried it for a day but it was slower, frustrating to change depth so a no go for me.... and the Dewalts pace and weight was just annoying when initially in hand.... Paslode all the way for me...... and the savings factor on the Dewalt just doesn't compute....I am full time and not a home DIYer..... The customer pays for the supplies so it doesn't matter.... the ONLY things the Dewalt has that is a win for me, is less garbage/waste (fuel cells) created and the bump mode.
DavidAndrew Brent That's fantastic ! It's not an issue all the time but having sold them for 9 years I had plenty of mentions so it needed to be noted. 👍🏼 (mike)
thats cause we have the good gas in most stores made for cold temps. paslode makes a cold temp gas and thats all u really see in canada . u can get the other stuff but no one uses it
***** yeah you have a point there. I looked into the weight in lbs it's pretty close to 10 lbs. That's a good heft to it but on the bright side makes a good work out. I noticed Dwain you're wearing the dewalt hooded jacket. How do you like it so far? And is it machine washable?
I'm a fan of the Paslode impulse nailers they have worked great for me, but the fact that Dewalt only runs on batteries is so much more convenient. It's weird that Dewalt has the same db rating for sound though it must be a miss print or something. The Dewalt it a big win if your doing renovation work in a house or business that's being occupied while your working.
Also want to say great channel guys. I started to watch your earlier videos but ended up being distracted for a bit with other real life problems, but from what I saw they were really detailed.
***** Would like to see the Hilti nailer in action if you guys get the chance to use one. It's not over here in the states yet. The Makita nailer isn't sold over here in the states, but Bostich and Hitachi have some Impulse nailers also they are not very popular though in the states. There is very little marketing done with those brands and their cordless nailers compared to Paslode they really had the Market to themselves when it came to cordless nailers. That dominance will probably change with Dewalts new cordless nailer.
I've noticed you've talked about warranties/extended warranties etc, more than once now and was reminded of something I'd seen the other night. www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/repair-replace-refund#-no-refund-signs-and-expired-warranties I'm sure i'm not the only one whose opted for extended warranties on tools, some of which have even been at an extra cost. There's a government calculator somewhere that lists common lifespans of products. It displays how much longevity most products should have (like power tools) and should that life expectancy end prematurely, the product must be repaired, replaced or refunded by the retailer or manufacturer in adherence to Australian consumer laws, regardless the warranty terms set by the retailer or manufacturer upon purchase. You're probably already aware but i just thought it was relevant.
Brushless tools dont like the wet either guys i live on the uk an was talking to a dewalt rep he said all brushless will give bother with colder climates/wet dewalt gunt is good but paslode in my opinion is the best.
Wow that's how much you guys are paying for the guns that's ridiculous you can purchase that paslode lithium ion for around $200 on eBay the paslode that is and some around 300 for the makita and the dewalt
The Dewalt is much better, the paslode is good, but you have the smell of the gass, and then you have the makita, its like the rest of their machines, it sucks...

look forward to your report!

Good to hear Paul.👍
Hitachi and Paslode are the best on the market....... ive used a few and these 2 take the cake!!!!!.......
Willo! Didn't expect to see your mug when I opened up this video.
If there was a hilti gun there, will you guys rate it as good as the rest. I am sick of fixing the paslode(not fire nails). I am planing to buy the hilti one. What do you think?
Hi I'm just wondering what the weight of the hilti you mentioned and would this come into your top three great review by the way
I used the Max for years , top gun , great nozzle to get in . I feel the difference between the Max and the Paslode , the max just had that bit of extra punch in power( +\- 5 % guessing ) , but for sure the Paslode had a nice feel about and is a bright orange colour to find at the end of the day when it's time to pack up . Where’d u get $600 mark? I just bought paslode for 890. Maybe I should have shopped around. 🤦🏽♂️
I think $890 is standard retail :) I don't know where $600 came from....
makita one has a design flaw in the fan avoid, the fans always break apparently. happened to me and when i did some research i found many people to have same problem
You can also purchase the gas cell separately now I guess they thought it was ridiculous to sell them at the same time as the nails
i am a chippy and use to using all brands of nailer's
i like the weight of the gas nailer's over battery nailers
the issue i have with gas nailer's is on cold days they play up allot and you tend to waste time messing with them
also gas goes off which in turn causes you to waste time messing with them
you also have to clean them regular and the cleaning kits can be costly
plus gas is expensive sure you can buy packs of nails that come with gas but i have never had a bottle of gas that has lasted through the pack
so you always need to buy extra gas
battery nailer's are heavy after a whole day using them you end up with shoulder and neck pains
but they are so reliable as long as you have charge in your batteries they keep firing
as a gripe i would say that you do need to keep min 3 batteries 1 on charge 1 in your gun and spare ready to go
as i found out when skinning a roof
i bought a dewalt brad nailer when they first came out nearly 10yrs ago and it is still going strong had no loss of power that i can tell of
still fire's every time never really had any problems with it other than replacement batteries which is to be expected
+smurf196uk thanks for sharing your experience. You hit the nail on the head, it comes down to weight/comfort vs convenience & cost.
+smurf196uk this was helpful thank you very much
Guys have you tried the Bosch GSK18V-LI 18V nail gun yet ? Reviews for it seem to be quite favourable.
i've held it but not used it. would like to review it (Bosch are you listening?)
james Lankester I have the Bosch gun, it's not bad, a bit slow and it's rather on heavy side but never had a problem with it (I've had it for over 2 years now)

Wish you guys would do some hilti reviews
we'd love to! no access at the moment ...
Great video guys. The 100% battery powered nailer from dewalt is the way to go. Was this the new one with 2 mode for small and large nails?
***** yeah you have a point there. I looked into the weight in lbs it's pretty close to 10 lbs. That's a good heft to it but on the bright side makes a good work out. I noticed Dwain you're wearing the dewalt hooded jacket. How do you like it so far? And is it machine washable?
ive tried them, for me in nz they were too heavy and to dear

+Xtreme Videos lol
Paslode is louder. I use dewalt and paslode makes me jump if I'm nailing away and grab my mates paslode.

Also, got a fair bit of tiling/concreting work coming up and i'm looking at handheld concrete grinders. Any chance of a relative video in future?
Brushless tools dont like the wet either guys i live on the uk an was talking to a dewalt rep he said all brushless will give bother with colder climates/wet dewalt gunt is good but paslode in my opinion is the best.
I bought a dewalt, got rid of it next day, too heavy slow and awkward, wind up pisses me off too even with bump mode.. Pass on dewalt
Thanks, guys ... It helped. Cheers!
Wow that's how much you guys are paying for the guns that's ridiculous you can purchase that paslode lithium ion for around $200 on eBay the paslode that is and some around 300 for the makita and the dewalt

The dwalt is first production and is finish !!! Makita is rubbish !!!!!! PASLODE IS KNOWN !!!! AND THEREFORE IS THE BEST !
+Red Planet an objective overview there Red ;)
I like the dewalt. No gas killing you in small areas.
Yep yep yep yep yep yea yep!!
