    You have no idea how many video's I had to watch to find someone who would tell me the order they go. Everyone just said don't move them. Thank you so much. 10 years old and still the best video on the topic.

    For those of you with the 2000's version V6 Ranger like me, take your front tires off and go in from the sides. For the passenger side plugs, you might find you can't get a socket extension in there on the middle plug as it's pretty tight. Just slide a 19mm deep socket over the spark plug socket head, and viola! No extension needed, and you have room to manipulate a socket wrench. I just did mine today for the first time ever, and thanks to the power of TH-cam it went super smoothly and my truck runs great!

    This video met my needs. Very helpful on how to open the wire loom; very clear, up close image! Very easy to understand and follow Chris. This worked for my 2003 Ford Ranger Edge, Standard cab, 3.0-6cyc - gas. I replaced my spark plugs & wires with Motorcraft. Perfect fit everytime. Saved me lots of money doing this myself. Any skill level backyard mechanic can do this. Take your time and replace ONE wire at a time.

    I’m a day and age where information can be so readily available, the information you find isn’t always accurate or straight forward. After 2 hrs of sifting they diagrams for my make and frustration. I found myself just looking for a simple video. Chris Fix. This video was clear, straight forward and helpful. I remembered Chris’s for my Ranger bc many years ago I watched a video to fix my Pontiac. This video took me 5mins and came with helpful tips such as the zip ties. Thanks again

    This is recorded clearly so we can see everything you are doing!! I know it's time for my 99 Taurus SE to have a tune-up but I want to do it myself... 1 to save some money & 2 because I think even thou I'm female...I should know how to & be able to do some routine maintenance for my car by myself. But, I also knew I had to make sure that each replacement wire matched exactly to the one I would be removing and, honestly I thought all the wires had to be removed at once and then replace them. That's what has been stopping me because I was to worried I would mess it up and cause mis-firing. Your vid shows that I can do it one at a time to avoid that risk! Thanx Chris...now I just need a really good vid for the plugs and I will be able to give this a shot on my own!!

    • @chrisfix
      @chrisfix  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peachess1965 Great! Glad the video was helpful! Let me know how the replacement goes. As for the plugs, it is easy, you get a spark plug socket, some extensions and a ratchet. That is all.

    Dude, this was a class of class. I own a 08 ranger 3.0. It looks like I will need stilts to get to the back of the engine to open the looms. LOL. I bought mine new. Get this, the wires on the passenger side run along and even touch the engine valve cover between the cover and the block. I'm shocked that I haven't had an issue yet. Thanks for posting this vid. It was most helpful .

    HOLY CRAP!!! Okay, first. The 01 ranger 4.0, set up is VASTLY different!! Second...if you choose to DIY on this, that is to say, the ranger 4.0...make sure the kids and neighbors are not home!! For SEVERAL hours!!! The 4,5 and 6 were reasonably easy. I suspect for most, very easy. But the truck I bought, though low mileage for the year...94,000 on again, a 2001, CLEARLY is still running on the original plugs and wires! At least I know now why, with less than 10,000 miles since I bought it a year ago, it’s running rough and skipping. I also understand why the original owner never changed them!!! To access the 1,2 and 3...I had to remove the passenger wheel and the wheel well skirting. That too, not having been removed in 17 years!!! I’ll get this done but I’ll tell you what...it’ll become coke cans before I undertake THIS backyard mechanic job again!!! I got 4 done and the rain came!! Most fitting for this job!! 😡 The number 2 is going to likely drive me to the funny farm!! Even once I AM able to get the plug wire off, solving world hunger would be easier than getting the old plug out! I’m praying getting the new one in, ( you like my optimism that I’ll even get the old wire and plug out), will be easy! Then I’ll be battling getting the wheel well skirt back in! Yes, it CAN be done BUT....’easy’ it AIN’T!!! Not even CLOSE!!

    Great work, Chris. Just one thought. I worked in the telephone industry for 35 years. I really like how you used the ty-wraps to make now looms and such. Just a heads up that you should either not trim the excess plastic from the installed ty-wraps or (the preferential way) cut them off flush with the lock. This will prevent blood from being spilled, I guarantee it. Many times I have reached into a tight spot without seeing and came back with a wicked cut from just this issue. Hope all is well...

    Very nice and neat chris :-)
    Sometimes handy to keep the longest old wire for diags to other vehicles, if its cleaned really well and it conducts ok then it will be ok for short tests :-)
    Ive used cable ties in rather complex patterns to hold allsorts together, they are bloody magic :-)
    You had a nice engine to do there, i had one where the coil pack is behind the engine and very low, so you have to lie under the car and feed your arm through the junk in the way to uplug the wires, i swore a few times lol :-)

    • @chrisfix
      @chrisfix  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry i ment just simple diagnostic testing, you know, is this wire faulty when damp, does this distributor produce spark, attaching a spark gap device to check a healthy voltage, is it arking out and i cant see it, does it break down because it gets too hot near the engine.
      Sometimes you cant see the fault and just a spare long lead can tell you if there is a fault or difference you cant see.

    Hey Chris! Love your videos bro. I've learn a ton. I'm super grateful for them.
    Got a quick question if I may. I got a Volvo C70 2001 stick shift with 180K miles or so. Recently got the code P0300 random misfire. Trying to get as much info as I can to see what troubleshooting steps I can take. Is got a turbo and I am due for a throttle body cleaning (putting a new gasket too).
    I have recently changed the spark plugs no less than 10K ago and changed a injector coil as well (for a used one though....) since I did get a misfire previously in 1 of the cylinders.
    Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    hey chris whats your opinion of using anti-seize before re-installing spark plugs? thanks

    • @chrisfix
      @chrisfix  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +gerald B I always use the silver antiseize when changing plugs. It's good insurance so the plugs don't get stuck and so the threads are lubricated!

    Hey Chris I bought brand new spark plug wires today but what tripped me out is that they gave me 8 wires while the vehicle I own only has 6 cynliders should I go back to the shop and double check if they gave me the correct wires?

    • @chrisfix
      @chrisfix  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Yea, that is most likely a mistake. What car? I would go back and double check because the wrong size wires will be a pain to work with!

    Hi Chris I thought you had a B2500se. Anyway maybe you can help answer a few questions anyway. I'm in a deep one with my 00Mazda B2500 2.5L and not 1 mechanic I can trust or even afford. Does my truck have a Crankshaft Synchronizer? Is this truck's computer identified as an ECM, ECU or PMC ? There is an intermittent starting and shutting down problem, thats right it shuts down while driving unexpectedly, well now I expect it so its not drivable.
    Replaced bad fuel pump going to change spark plugs and use your video to test wires so I can rule that out. Thank you

    I have a 96 Ford Ranger and my service engine light came on. I have a code reader and it said
    number two spark plug. So I changed all the wires and plugs. Now the engine light came on and I had autozone check it and she said spark plugs and wires. Grrr. I heard maybe fuel injectors and coil. I thought my coil plugs were hard to get on. Is there any special way to put them on cause I just snap them on - but they fought me!

      +ChrisFix if it doesn't leak then I guess there's no problem. I noticed it because I just finished up putting a set of heads on an 02 ranger edge with the 3.0 and had been looking for stuff like that lol

    • @chrisfix

      Yes if the old plugs are worn. Here is more info: th-cam.com/video/m_ZsWQ_WXNo/w-d-xo.html
