I watch this part in the movie repeatedly. OK, Gerald Scarfe, don't get me wrong - the animation for "Goodbye Blue Sky" was kick-ass. But for me "What Shall We Do Now" is the BEST animation in the whole thing. It's hypnotizing, seductive, and just GRABS you.
I was lucky enough to score a ticket and see The Wall at Nassau Coliseum on Wed Feb 27 1980. They played What Shall We Do Now, and I've always wondered why they didn't include it on the album when they did add filler like Nobody Home, Vera Lynn, and Bring The Boys Back Home. Comfortably Numb was just insane-the wall had been completed and Gilmour was standing atop the wall in a cherry picker playing the solos and singing his parts.
I'm envious, I would have been 4 years old then, I did get to see the wall when Waters brought his new production to my country. It was amazing but I still felt like I'd missed something without Gilmour, Mason and Wright.
This is REALLY good. Man, that part at 2:36 was incredible, fuck he does the vocals really amazing at that part and the sound effects were a nice touch and mixed in nicely. Really great, this is definitely my definitive version of the song now.

I never thought or understood the wall when I was younger, then I started getting stoned and taking acid and when I had a bit more life experience I totally get the wall it's still amazing without any acid

My intention was to create a version compiling the best vocals Roger sang, since to be honest the studio version’s vocals are a bit weak. The shortened version really made Young Lust a more powerful song with this song leading into orchestral-wise. I'm sure other songs Pink Floyd did were cuts and adding to flow better in the album. With that said I think Pink Floyd added this into the movie in the 1980s vs a pre-1979 into the album thought on orchestrating into a better music track piece "Young Lust" even with this extended track version trying to make it longer into a separate musical piece.
I understand what you’re saying, but I didn’t extend anything. This is the same length as the movie version, all I did to make it longer was add thunder at the end that’s around 10 seconds long, so it’s not really that big of a change imo

I'm just saying had Pink Floyd made this a longer piece, I think everyone seems to like, then they would have had to choose a new intro for Young Lust where there is that sharp "I am just a new boy ..." like where is the intro build up to that music track. Young Lust loses its better song quality without a quality build up, as a track song. Many music artists will recommend failures of a song effect to other artists in time for album releases many times. They could have eliminated "The show must go on" final track in "The Wall" but now that final track piece became so much more powerful to loop us back to track one again leading into "The Wall" for us to be addicted into listening to the entire album once more ... Sort of like in Opera "don't stop! Encore" Pink Floyd clever album endeavor understanding how opera works in music classics.

Too much brain explosions 🤯 to take in to be a Young Lust seemingly one track song. In 1975's album "Wish You Were Here" with "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" it seems lacking to jump into that track without it's preceding well done Pink Floyd tracks! That song is better with all 13+ minutes of that first of the album. 👍
