Been a cartridge guy since the 70s when I first started shaving. Last ten years have used Dorco blades for cost saving but they’ve been getting harder to find, so switched to Supply 2.0. WOW! Went all in with soap, brush, everything. Kinda pissed that here I am at 63 years old and no one ever really taught me how to shave, thanks Dad. It’s a whole new experience now. Love it. Looking forward to trying out different razors down the road but for now, glad I’ve started with Supply.
I switched to “non cartridge” shaving about 2-3 months ago and haven’t looked back. I suffered from ingrown hairs and had no idea that they could be fixed by using DE razors. Now it’s become a hobby. This will definitely be added to the collection. Love this channel!
I use to have the same issue. No matter what product I used I would have razor bumps everywhere. Once I changed to DE safety razors it went away 100%. I don’t get ANY ingrown hairs now or razor burn.
I'm 1/2 weeks in and on a cheap double edged safety blade razor from Amazon I will also never go back, I'm unlikely to turn this into a hobby I just want as little fuss as possible. Iv always found if I leave my hair any longer than 2/3 days I know I'm going to have a rough time with anything electric or cartridges iv ever used until I used a single blade. Now I know how good even a cheap low investment to see if I like it I'll probably look to buy something a little nicer.
Supply was the razor that got me back into wet shaving after rocking a beard for a year. Great experience except for my lip area. Maybe it’s the angle of the head but I would cut myself when shaving the lip which I never do when using my ambassador.
I have the supply in glossy black, love it so far its been about a month and a half and I use the medium setting and it works well for me. I shave 3 sometimes 4 times a week for work.
Love my Supply razor. Have the polished alloy one. Was sold on its quality straight away. I use all three plates, in the corresponding passes. No gimmicks or hype. Love that I can manually load the blade, as my preferred method. Customer service is tops, and they deserve the recognition and backing they received.
The sensitive setting is useless for coarse hair, had to take multiple passes. the comfortable setting works nice, haven't tried ultra close yet, but it is a great razor.
I was glad to see this video. Some time ago, I purchased this razor. After my first shave with it my face looked like it had been attached by a mad man with a hatchet. I was never able to get a good shave with the razor. I returned it to the manufacturer with no problem whatsoever. They are a very good company and really stand behind their products. I just couldn't make it work. I've been very happy with my safety razor experience but just couldn't get the hand of this one. Based on your review, it was obviously user error on my part! Thanks for the review.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and honest reactions. If you weren’t trying to bushwhack your overgrowth you might have gotten a great shave with just the first setting. Please post an update or reply if that more aggressive plate caused ingrown hairs. Thanks, Matt. Great video and welcome back!
The Feather Artist Club SS would have destroyed that so called overgrowth, without any effort comes down to one thing and one thing only quality of the blade. I'll stick to my feather artist club
My very first wet shaving razor was the Supply 2.0, I thought it just looked awesome. I started with the sensitive #1, but now shave with the comfortable or #2 guard. The Supply 2.0 gives you a great shave and is a solid razor. My only complaint is there are very few injector blade manufactures on the market today. I ended up buying a DE razor because of the tremendous selection of DE blades. DE blades are also much cheaper. I bought 100 Voskhod for $8 or 8 cents a blade, where the supply blades are 68 - 75 cents each, I can even buy Feather blades in bulk for about 34 cents each. Still compaired to cartridge razors the Supply 2.0 is a bargain, and gives a buch better shave.
The Supply is definitely in my top 3 daily shavers. If I haven't shaved for 3 or 4 days, I'll use the most aggressive plate, otherwise I find the middle plate the most comfortable. I find I can get 7 or 8 shaves from a blade before having to change (as opposed to my de's which only give 2 or 3). Plus, it just feels solid in the hand.
@@davidkaplan5517 Based on the timeframe of your comment, I would assume you either got the Supply SE which looks like it has a come on the bottom of it, or the Supply Pro that has an adjustment dial. The SE doesn't have any options to swap out anymore. I believe it is supposed to be about as aggressive as the 'comfortable' setting (2 dots) from the original design.
@@brandonh4527 yeah. It was SE. I really didn’t like it, lot of time lot of rinsing the razor and lot of cuts/nicks/not close shave even when following the directions. My Gillette multiblade is close shave and much more efficient.
@@davidkaplan5517 I hear ya, I just got the SE to try. I already had the previous 2.0 version which I really like, but so far, I am not impressed with the SE version. I'm betting it was just a user error on my part. I'm hoping that it ends up being good though. I hate cartridge razors though. I went from the Gillette Fusion to the Supply, to straight razor. Ever since I switched from the cartridge razor and I will never switch back. The cartridge razor was expensive and a very uncomfortable experience.
Unrelated comment, just wanted to say thank you to Razor Emporium. Just got my 1956 Super Speed back from its revamp service. Bought it from an antique dealer for $6, needless to say, it was in rough shape. Now it looks so good I don’t know whether to use it or preserve it. Amazing work!!
I've had my SS Supply for 3 years now. The 3 dot plate and using Schick blades are the best. Either the easy to find Chinese Schick blades, or the Proline Schick blades from Japan. Personna blades are too mild for me.
Okay - you sold me. I'm going to try it out. Your confidence around your earlobes gave me anxiety, but not a single nick! The skill level! I've never tried out a new style and not nicked where the lobe meets the neck. This video is assuaging those fears. Thank you!
GOOD! At about 17:58 on the time line, you took the plate off and the blade came out. That shows that the person using the razor can remove a stuck clog if rinsing alone does not clear away the clog. This Supply Injector Razor must be a good razor!
I’ve been eye balling this razor and now you have enabled me to pull the trigger. I just have to figure out which finish I want. Maybe the stainless and I’ll send it to you to coat it a custom finish for me 🔥🪒💈👍🏽
Recently been gifted this set ... have displayed the components in my bathroom but have yet to trial it. I am so glad that there is a positive review from you here !
I purchased this razor. My experience hasn’t been very good. The blade doesn’t stay fixed in the head even after following directions on loading the blade, making sure everything is tight and checking the blade reveal. On one pass the blade slipped out of the head. Good thing I noticed it before my next pass. Customer service from razor has been responsive and provided me with a new razor. Unfortunately the I’ve had the same experience with the second razor. Customer service has been great. Maybe I just got a bad batch. I’ll revise this after speaking with customer service again.
I first discovered this razor only a week ago. I was considering a purchase, now, based on your video, I will absolutely pull the trigger. I have twelve razors in my Den, looks like the Supply will be lucky thirteen! I will post a comment after my first shave. Great video by the way!
I returned TWO of the 1.0 models - no love. The 2.0 models are so much more refined. I just bough the stainless model after using the bronze-colored model. Very nice. Good people to work with…and from my town of Fort Worth, TX.
I have the Supply V2, and it's acceptable. I really prefer a DE safety razor, as it's easier to just keep going, without all the more frequent rinsings. I basically use the Rockwell Model T the most, but I am looking to invest in the REX Ambassador soon.
As a lady I LOVE my supply razor and think it’s a damn shame that it’s not more popular. However, it takes a long time to get good technique down and as a lady it is harder to shave my legs with this than a conventional 5 blade razor. You have to be very careful and it’s easy to have a bloody leg if you don’t have an extremely light hand. I’m still perfecting the technique but get better and better each time.
I think I've watched 3 videos now where you are trying to shave your incredibly heavy beard with 15 day growth. WHY? Just take electric clippers and get it down to a reasonable stubble and then shave. I don't think most razors, be they single or double-edged are made to cut through your jungle of a beard.
My beard is at least as dense as his and I use my shavette and it comes off in one pass, this thing he's using takes multiple passes which equals irritation ouch, I'll stick with my shavette.
Hey Matt. I’ve used nearly 200 razors. The Supply 2.0 is my absolute favorite. I use only the 3 plate. And if you think it’s great on the face, on the head? It’s spectacular. It’s really the only razor I use for head shaving these days. And the blades are made for Supply by Personna.
Awesome! I had some issues first with Supply Single Edge, but got it right and it's now a top 2. Just behind my dear Ronson, also loaded with injector blades.
I love the Supply razor. I have 3 of them, each one with different settings. Use the mildest one for the first pass, and then step up to the middle, and finishes with the most aggressive for the finishing touch. And then on my head with the mildest, and a second finishing touch with the middle aggressive. I am Injector fan, with a fine collection of vintage Schick Injectors, and even the Pal stainless adjustable Injector. All of them are great, but I love the Supply most.
I don't have the Supply razor, but it seems like it's a quality product. Honestly, any product that reduces plastic waste gets a big thumbs-up from me. I have a 1954 - 1958 Ever-Sharp HydroMagic and run Schick blades. Wonderful combination! More aggressive than my vintage DEs, and a step down from my GEMs. I'd say it's probably as aggressive as my GEM Feather Weight. Loved the video!
Hey Matt. Saw the previous video and glad you were able to get back to being happy. I haven't used this product, but definitely changed my opinion about it being legitimate.
I have been keeping an eye on Supply since 2019. I was going to go with their razor, but went with a cheaper DE razor instead. I just didn’t want to spend the money, at the time. Now, that they added a nick guard, I wasted no time preordering it! I have seen too many positive reviews to pass up the chance to get one. I have both DE and SE razors. I actually prefer SE as I feel I a get a better shave. Some DE blades can be too flimsy for my tastes. A solid SE blade does the trick. I like Titan Milds, but I know those won’t work for Supply Razors. I hope their blades work well.
I've had a Supply razor for a few years but I only use it occasionally. When my facial hair is long, (mine grows pretty slow. Matt's 5 o'clock shadow is what I get after 3 days of growth. ;D ) the Supply razor mows through my facial hair beautifully like no razor I have. I don't feel it cutting at all, the hair seems to magically separate from my face. The only thing that prevents it from being my daily driver is that it always leaves a little bit of stubble and doesn't cut very close when I have mostly stubble. I've tried using the aggressive plate, but it leaves a lot of razor burn (normal plate doesn't), and still leaves a bit of stubble in key areas no matter how many different directional passes I do on it. It is less stubble than the normal plate though. (Used both the Personna and Schick blades. I haven't tried the new blades shown in this video.) This was my first injector razor and got me hooked enough to purchase a Shick Model G, which is better for me at cutting closer when my facial hair is shorter. I want to try other injectors as well.
For dialing in (pun intended) I’d recommend the Schick Adjustable, which if I remember correctly is in the M-type series. I personally like types I, J, M, and N the best. I and J have very similar heads but the handle on the J is longer. They also make Lady Schicks in several series that have the same heads but longer handles in different colors such as yellow. The I-M Types are less harsh in my experience than the Type G while still shaving efficiently and close. Some come in Hydromagic versions that have a small lever that partially releases the spring for better cleaning. It may be my imagination but these seem a tad more aggressive than the ones without this feature. I also slightly prefer the ones that do not spell-out Eversharp on the head. A special mention of the Schick Twin that can be found NOS in a mailing can (!) that was a promotion. These twins shave very smoothly and closely. I do not find the twin blades that are very close together to give me ingrown hairs but I’m not prone to those so some may find differently. The closeness of the twin blades does lead to some clogging of the space between them. In the can are a couple of the twin blades - they last quite well - at least 7-10 3-pass shaves for me. More twin blades can be gotten from Japan via eBay but they are fairly expensive and take a couple of months to get. I think they can be used in the Supply if the screw/spring tension is backed off a bit. Anyone know more about this?
@@Mvendrel I found some of those on eBay and will definitely sit on my watch list. Just got my supply razor and am eagerly awaiting to see how it performs in the morning! If I like it enough to start using it consistently, I might also pick myself up one of those adjustable schicks!
Thanks, I don't have the Supply injector but I do have a Parker adjustable injector that has a dial like the Schick and PAL adjustable injector. The PAL, the Parker, and the Supply look so much alike that I am guessing all three razors are made in the same factory.
Just bought your Rex Ambassador XL polished. Can't wait to use it. It looks amazing in the pics I've seen of it. I have the Supply adjustable injector razor and have yet to use it. I also have a Parker injector razor that I've also yet to use. I use my Rockwell 6C with a #4 plate as my go to and a Leaf razor I use intermittently. Very happy with that Leaf as well. I always appreciate the honest and detailed reviews.
I own a Supply razor and actually do really enjoy. I am a double sided razor user and still my favorite go to selection. The supply is a great alternative, but there is a cost difference with the blades. A good double sided blade (20-30 cents/4 shaves)... a Supply injector ( 90 cents a blade/4 shaves)... and can only get blades from SUPPLY. I addition, I like to take my blade out so everything dries properly.. much more of a hassle with SUPPLY. Still... great shave from Supply... I use on the closest shave plate... no issues. I tried there shave cream.... not a fan of it. Post shave treatment us very good product.... light year round scents... nourishing and not greasy. I really enjoy, just not my everyday go to razor.
Schick blades - either from China or NOS work perfectly in the Supply. In my experience injector blades last for quite a few more shaves than even very good DE blades - probably because they are so much thicker. I find injector blades last for up to 10 shaves even when doing 3-pass. They are similar to AC blades in this respect in my experience.
Great video, I really like my supply razor. I am still blown away at how much of a difference cold water shaving has made for me. I think back to the different blades and razors I've used in the past that caused irritation, and wonder if that was because I was always told to use warm water.
I know a lot of people really like them, but I always thought they were a bit pricey for what they are. I've been pleasantly surprised by the Parker. I'm reviewing it on my channel tomorrow.
That could be me you were referring to! 😄 I came into the shop a few weeks back and saw you walking through the lobby and I was like “Hey you’re Matt! I watch your videos on TH-cam!” Lol I bought one of the official Black & Blue t shirts you wear in the videos! also a heavy chrome stand for my Rockwell 6C and some Proraso balm 🙂
Its refreshing to see more options and innovation now hitting the mainstream. At a buck a blade with a single edge, you will need to switch out blades quite often. How does it perform with a feather blade with 2 week growth?
Thanks for the great video. I have just placed an order for the Supply Single Pro. I have always hated buying those disposable razors. I'm sure that i will be very happy with the Pro. More to come.
I have a ss Supply along with the Parker adjustable and. M3 adjustable. My favourite is the vintage Schick M3. Wonderful shave. I find the Supply misses growth and gives me irritation in buffing to get rid.
Now you need to release your own injector razor I think sir . Glad you enjoyed it, I love single edge razors, but have been revisiting slants and that's been fun .
I'm also a fan of Shark Tank. As I have gotten older, my beard has began to fill in with the white hair that my Norelco triple head was struggling to cut. I switched to the 5 bladed Gillette reusable handle razor but didn't appreciate the ingrown neck hairs or the ever increasing price. I bought the first Supply stainless handle without the additional settings ultimately having to buy the ultra close one. I tried several boxes of Supply's razors but couldn't trust that the new one was going to be sharper than the one I was discarding so I've switched to the Schick injection blades with the Supply razor. It takes a slight adjustment to switch blades but Schick's consistency is worth it. Before changing to the Supply razor, my face & neck always had shaving bumps but none since. There is a learning curve with the Supply. You can't make the long passes that the flimsy blades allow without sacrifice. I really enjoy shaving now. Supply makes great products too but I've been buying the traditional English brands, Truefitt and Hill being one of my favorites for the past 2-3 years.
So, I didn’t realize that these blades were smaller than Artisan Single edge blades. I purchased a crap load of their Black Label blades and saw there’s no way it would fit my ATT S1 so, I just ended up purchasing a Supply Single edge…It does give a pretty nice shave.
I would love to see you review/try the new Supply SE razor with those new black label blades from Japan. Personally I was 7/10 with the 2.0 which is the One you used in this video due to cuts and burns from typical use. The new SE razor is nice and the blades are impressive and light and left me little to no cuts, 10/10 personally. I was like you with genuine enthusiasm with a nice , simple and fun shave from it. So my fingers are crossed you enjoy this new.
Sensitive is my daily but when I’m wanting a super close shave for an event or I need it to last a little longer I step it up to comfortable. It’s surprisingly a great razor I bounce between this and my ambassador
I do enjoy my Supply 2.0, but I wish I had waited until a week later to buy, as they came out with the sexier copper alloy finish a week later. Oh well. Still works great. I often use it as a cleanup razor after a couple straight razor passes, as I’m still very new to that and don’t push myself too fast.
I don’t have the supply, but I did just pickup the Schick adjustable razor that you referenced in the video and am excited to try that out. Just have to pick up some injector blades. Thanks for the video Matt!
You’ll like the Schick Adjustable I predict. See my comment above. As for blades my first preference is for late model [Platinum Plus (R)] NOS Schicks but the Schicks from China or the Personnas work well too.
Matt💈💈 Great review and demo. I have one single edge razor, an Asylum RX which uses "artist club" blades. Way too aggressive for me, maybe one of these Supply razors will work for me. I like the finish color of this one, we'll see. Thanks for the video. Enjoy!
I typically have used the 3 dot the most, sometimes the 2 dot. I think I like it better because it feels closer to home with a straight razor. It would be cool if you guys did a video on the new Supply Pro and SE in comparison to this model.
I'm curious about the SE. I had a rough start with DE razors. Lots of cuts and shaving took forever. I tried the Leaf with only 2 blades loaded. I like that I can use any DE blade and break it in half. That fixed the cut issue because of the pivoting head. It was too big to get under my nose though. Then I went back to a regular DE. I have the hang of it enough that I have very few cuts now, but it still takes longer because I have to be careful. I'd love a single edged razor that took commodity blades, pivoted so I wouldn't get cut, and was small enough to fit under my nose. Maybe the Supply SE is it.
@@Lew114 if you want to stick with DE blades, it sounds like you should give High Proof Razors a try. That’s been my daily razor for a while now. You get a very acceptably close cut with 2 passes and it’s comfortable. The head pivots and takes 1/2 DE blade. I bought and tried the supply SE. It’s probably good for the more novice, but the original isn’t hard l, just takes a little time to get used to. I think the 2 dot regular setting is the best all around as far as supply goes. If you get the SE, order the 2 and 3 dot settings with it and see what you like. Work up to the 3 dot so you don’t skin yourself.
Great Review! I enjoy the Supply that I have with the 3 dot or closest shave plate. The main difference between mine and what you used is that I have the Stainless version and it is a bit heavier.
Try one of the Schick dial adjustable razors and I think you’ll like it. It’s pressed metal with plastic handle and lightweight but it shaves very well and can be adjusted on the fly. The Persona blades like those in Supply, the Schick blades from China, or NOS Schick all work well for me - slight nod to NOS. I prefer the aluminum injectors for reasons of not making plastic waste.
I have a Supply in addition to a mini collection of vintage Schicks and I shaved with Schicks starting at age 14 - I’m 69 now. Because I’m a daily shaver I prefer the milder shavers. For Supply I prefer the 1 dot plate. For vintage: I, J, L, or M, including the adjustable. I have shaved with DE too over last year. There too I prefer milder razors - RazoRock BBS and FatBoy up to 5 are personal favorites. I’ve not yet used an Ambassador but want to. Since I used Schicks for so many years I don’t mind aluminum razors. The RazoRock Baby Smooth is an AL version of the BBS (which is SS) and my favorite AL razor. I also like the Gillette Slim for a lighter weight DE. If I have to travel with carryon my fall back is a NOS aluminum handle Atra with Vector carts from India. I can survive twin blades while traveling but don’t like more than 2 blades in a cartridge. (The Schick twin is a pretty good razor too but blades if new have to be ordered from Japan.)
I left off Rockwell 6S from my favs list. I prefer it with 2, 3, or 4 plates depending on whether I’ve skipped a day or two of shaving. I’ve the same preferences and reasons for adjustable “on the fly” as you do but the Rockwell is easier to change than the Supply. Or if one is a razor collector as I am can use 2 at once ;-) (I like two-tone razors so I have a black and red 6S with baseplates switched.) I gift a lot of razors to others sharing my hobby. I wish Rockwell used a 2-4 plate in their 2C and then I’d have my go-to affordable first/starter DE for my gift recipients as the 1-3 plate is almost a waste for the “1” side as presently configured.
Nice vid, though it was a bit long. Very nice looking razor. I like injectors and lately on the rare occasion I use other than a straight razor, I am using either a shavette or a Schick type G I picked up on fleabay for $10 or so. I also have a type E somewhere, and a ladies' model which is nice for several days growth because it clears easily, and a couple of repeaters. The Chinese Schick blades are pretty good and not too expensive, and still come in an injector pack with a metal key. An injector razor normally does ship with a blade, or at least a dummy blade, in the razor. You don't want to inject a blade into an empty razor because you can damage the blade edge. You want the new blade to push the old one out. When you changed guards you removed the old blade and you should leave it in place, and if you want to change blades then use the injector to do it. Your blade and your face will thank you. If circumstances require you to inject a blade into an empty razor, you might want to right away before shaving with it, use the injector pack to inject yet another blade and discard the first one.
Just received my Supply SE. I don't know if the Schick injector will be better, but I'm not digging the "Supplied" cartridge that comes with. It has taken multiple attempts to load a blade. Should be effortless. Guess I'll go out and buy a Schick injector and see if it's better. Sure hope so, otherwise this thing is going back.
Great shave Matt. I just bought a SE Occam razor that has 3 heads available for different aggression levels. It gave a very smooth shave like the one you just had. They were being offered by Classic Shaving. You need to get out and enjoy this Phoenix weather before it changes. Enjoy your day.
I’m a big fan of your Razors for design, different geometries, quality, and price. For single edged razors I and my son are particularly fond of Eco and the Hawks - especially V2 Aluminum. For DE I love the BBS and the Baby Smooth. They are kind to my face and neck and yet remove beard reasonably efficiently. Just work for me! The increased flex on the blade works as advertised and I find the head beautiful in shape as well.
@@pipebliss you’re welcome and I’ll add another: BC Silvertip brush is my “go to” for myself and as gifts in starter kits for new wet shavers for “at home” brush. It works excellently, looks great, and is very fairly priced. Btw, I was in the past lead scientific advisor to a company in Toronto: Sentinelle Medical before it was acquired by Hologic. I’m a breast MRI expert and also do breast and lymph node intervention. It is the latter that gives me appreciation for sharp, well-designed tools of the proper mass - I.e. heavy enough to preload proprioceptors and yet not so heavy as to be difficult or tiring to hold and use. So my dream razor would be a BBS in Titanium - not holding my breath but just sayin’. . . Thanks again!
Great video! I just recently acquired a stainless steel Supply, second hand from a buy/sell/trade group. I've only had a chance to try the 2 and 3 dot plates so far, but I really like both. I've found them both comfortable and easy to use. Probably gonna try the 1 dot next, just to get a good feel for what all the settings are capable of.
For someone that's used it, does it annoy you swapping out pieces? Why wouldn't you want a close shave all the time? I've only used a Merkur 23c long handle.
love my supply, I am impatiently waiting for their revamped adjustable offering in february. But for now, I use and love setting 3 for the most efficient setting, shaving every other day. BTW, I did order the new schick adjustable injector off amazon but had to return it for an exchange. It was difficult to load and I almost broke it so back it went. I would love to see you do a review on it. The Parker adjustable sits in my cabinet. Not worth the purchase. Big disappointment
so how i shave is...i use the norelco electric shaver to get the hair length down to skin, then shave whats left for smooth as eggs.....beats passing the blade on the face multiple times.
Let us know in the next video how many ingrown hairs you got! Shave take 4m beard w RazoRock Jaws .84 2 passes But got ingrown. Best way is to use an electric trimmer, keep it sHort a few day using a good exfoliator. And then use an open comb razor
I tried to use the Supply razor but the blade would never stay locked into the razor. The blade would shift to the left or the right and I wound up cutting myself. Second, I found that you had to completely disassemble the razor in order to clean it. I even tried different blades but it made no difference. I called Supply and informed them of the problem. To my surprise, they were aware of the problem but left it at that. Even though I had the razor for over one year, I asked for a return of my funds. I sent the razor back and did get my refund. I have hundreds of razors and this was the first razor I ever returned.
Great shave Matt. You look presentable now 😉. I only have the 2 dot plate and like it. You should get ahold of some Schick Proline blades, they are a big improvement over good already.
Have that razor at first used the number two head on it was too harsh on my face then had to switch to sensitive head and seems their blades was too harsh to use on my face so switched to using blades from Schicks and it went down smoothly for me. Now that razor is in my razors rotations.
This razor has tempted me for a while. I didn't get along with injectors at first because I would almost always get nicks using Personna blades. Months later I gave them another shot with Schick blades and had much better results. Not sure if it was the blades or my technique improved.
Could be like me. My skin just doesn't like Persona blades. No matter if its DE or SE, or the razor I use them in, those blades always cause a ridiculous amount of razor burn on my face. One time I even thought that I needed to just give it more time. Even 30 days later of consistent use I still had lots of razor burn, but the amount of nicks improved. I kept my blades around for years and used to try it out from time to time when I acquired new razors but always had issues with them.
I’ve had issues with quality and consistency of Personna cartridges for Atra/Trac2 as well. I’ve not used them for DE. I Prefer Schick blades for injector razors - whether from China, Japan, or NOS from USA.
I tried the supply razor a year ago and wasn't impressed. It felt like all the hype around it wasn't justified and I went back to my van der hagen de with astra blades and later to a leaf razor. Maybe I'll give it a shot again since I still have it and some blades. Just don't see me using it as often as I thought I would when I got it.
I tried the supply injector razor 2 years ago but way too many cuts, nicks, weepers for me. I sent it back and got into the DE razors plus the multi brands of blades is where I am at now.
I have several Injectors including a PAL and I have always found them superlative razors! I don't have a Supply Company model and I don't really see the need to acquire one esp having the PAL. I have the rare critical critique(at least expressed in these comments) but in my opinion/experience(I am VERY experienced with using injectors)there was absolutely no reason to switch blades. Injector blades are far more durable and extreme longevity even when tackling a coarse beard as you that the texture of yours is...
Very nice razor, and if you say it was a great shave, I believe it is giving your super sensitive skin type. I'd appreciate if you can indeed do the review of the Parker adjustable.
if anyone sees this, i just ordered mine and i’m very curious about how the ultra close shave works cuz i want my shave to look as though there weren’t follicles too begin with once i’m finished does it come to that degree? and it’s okay to go against the grain?
It's a lovely razor but I had a helluva time with it. Sure there's a learning curve but I figured out my Merkur after a couple shaves but after four with the Supply I was getting cut so badly I had to call it quits. Looks like now they include the different settings (mine came with the standard but had to buy the other settings) and mine had the metal injector. I also discovered I rolled the edge of the blade upon installing and I found on a TH-cam video to loosen the screw one-quarter turn, so fragging a blade and having a bad shave on the first time wasn't inspiring my confidence. Kinda defeated the purpose of having durable blades that would last many shaves (IIRC their advertising said a pack of blades was good for a few months) With the grain was fine (once I figured out the angle), against was so-so but cross-grain resulted in a pretty decent laceration on my fourth shave and that's when I stopped using it. It also took me twice as long to shave compared to my Merkur and I didn't have to rinse nearly as much (also have to shave daily due to company policy so I'm not having to cut much growth as you did in the video). I'll hand it to Supply that they honored their guarantee; I opted for their "keep the razor and we'll refund half you money" (not like they're going to be able to resell it anyway since it was used) because I didn't have the box and IIRC it had to be complete for a return. Their shave cream and aftershave are nice (and like a car dealership, they probably make more money selling blades, lotions and creams than razors). Again, a nice razor but not time-saving (nor would this be a shower-shaver) so I'll stick with my Defender.
Glad you got such a good shave this time! The last one was painful to watch! I might dig out my ww2 Schick injector razor with original blades and give it a try! Thanks for the great videos!
I actually own 2 of these razors. The original version that was had through Kick Starter the V1. The second version, called the V2. They both shave really well, but to me the V2 doesn't shave quite as close as the V1 with the same plate. Almost as close but not quite. I have yet to get an alloy version of this razor, maybe later. but both versions of the razor I own shave extremely well to me. I own many vintage razors, DE, mostly Gillette's and SE, Schick's and others like GEM and straights and shave with all of them. To me a supply razor is a good razor to own and use especially just getting started with single edge razors. I use the middle or medium aggressive plate to shave with on both my V1 and V2 razors. And the best thing about Supply razors they are guaranteed for life!
@@LEgoiste Not really the fist ones were made of stainless steel both the V1 and V2. The V2 had a little bit of a design update and came in 4 different finishes, polished and mat stainless mat black and polished black. The current production is a metal alloy unless you go for the higher priced all steel ones. The stainless steel version is almost twice as expensive as the alloy version. All versions as of current all carry a Lifetime warranty (100 Years) as far as I know..
When making a product for men, why bother with an instruction manual?
And what a great hobby it is
Better than cart razors any day, I can guarantee that!
@@whoisthis4130 which razor do you use
I've purchased this and used only the sensitive setting so far, but I agree--it works well!
Have had mine for about a year. I use the second setting. Very nice shave. Easy to maintain. I alternate with this and my Merkur 38C.
Hint: Your mug is ugly even before a bad shave.
The mid level works best for me- the highest level has a definite bite and makes it easy to get a nick.
Maybe you could use the de razor for some places on hour face and the supply one for sensitive parts. That could be a great strategy
You can buy the Schick injector off Amazon too
Injector blades last longer than DE blades. YMMV. You do the math.
Mine didn’t come with multiple options in the box like that. Do you know what the little circle ring is to spin and what that does?
I haven’t used either the Supply razor or blades, but love the marble shave bowl I got from them a couple of years ago 😊
Where do you get the Japanese Proline schick blades?
Maybe the stainless and I’ll send it to you to coat it a custom finish for me 🔥🪒💈👍🏽
The stainless with the satin finish, it looks good. The soft steel version can easily bend if dropped.
@@hughneek12 good call out. Can't go wrong with classic satin

As expected I was quickly contacted by Supply to take care of this matter. Supply really does provide top notch customer service. 10/10.
Double edge razors existed before electric clippers.
He’s trying to show the durability of the blade and how well it cuts through many types of beard
You’re so right
When my beard grows to 1/2" it's all about the Norelco One Blade.
3/4" and longer clippers, then one blade and maybe razor
Great video! As a Pro Barber I appreciate the value you guys are bringing to the razor industry.
Hey Matt. I’ve used nearly 200 razors. The Supply 2.0 is my absolute favorite. I use only the 3 plate. And if you think it’s great on the face, on the head? It’s spectacular. It’s really the only razor I use for head shaving these days. And the blades are made for Supply by Personna.
Curious how you know Persona makes their blades. Thanks in advance.
@@autumn1231 they did but now they have their black blades which are made in Japan (most likely by Feather).
@@ScottRLeslie thanks. Went to their site today hoping for a cyber monday deal.
I have the alloy version and I love the comfortable #2 guard. I've become a big fan.
I haven't tried the new blades shown in this video.)
This was my first injector razor and got me hooked enough to purchase a Shick Model G, which is better for me at cutting closer when my facial hair is shorter.
So happy to hear!
I know a lot of people really like them, but I always thought they were a bit pricey for what they are. I've been pleasantly surprised by the Parker. I'm reviewing it on my channel tomorrow.
Love my supply. I use it on setting 3. Been using it for the better part of a year. Anxiously waiting for their new adjustable coming out soon.
Love my 2.0 when its the #3 plate and black blades.. Just recently upgraded to the new PRO. Might want to try it out, Matt
I use the No.2 plate (Comfortable) with schick proline blades and it always gives a great shave.
I have a ss Supply along with the Parker adjustable and. M3 adjustable. My favourite is the vintage Schick M3. Wonderful shave. I find the Supply misses growth and gives me irritation in buffing to get rid.
My second favorite razor, right behind my ambassador of course. I only shave twice a week, cause I'm lazy, and I use the aggressive plate.
A good shave does do wonders for the spirit, particularly when done with a really nice new razor. Congrats, and best wishes.
Matt💈💈 Great review and demo. I have one single edge razor, an Asylum RX which uses "artist club" blades. Way too aggressive for me, maybe one of these Supply razors will work for me. I like the finish color of this one, we'll see. Thanks for the video. Enjoy!
Try the RazoRock Aluminum Hawk for your AC blades. My favorite and my son’s AC blade is the Kai “Pink”.
I'm excited I just bought mine 2 days ago and it's on the way I can't wait to try it out.
Great video! Glad to see you have a nice comfortable shave. You earned it, the last two were brutal.
I use guard 1 mild
Saw Jeremy's ad. Totally entertaining. Appreciate your presentation!
"Who told you to put the balm on!" Love it.
Thank you, I just ordered a supply razor and I appreciate your shaving method.
I use comfortable setting... im learning and getting accustom to wet shaving. And im saving some bucks to get an ambassador rex.
Matt, your razor reviews are superb. All the best from Canada!
Thank you Joe & Co. :)
@@Mvendrel thank you for the compliments

So my dream razor would be a BBS in Titanium - not holding my breath but just sayin’. . . Thanks again!
@@pipebliss Check out KevyShaves from today. He reviewed very favorably a Baby Smooth that I gifted him.
Bro you are so wholesome, Awesome to watch and so chill!
For someone that's used it, does it annoy you swapping out pieces? Why wouldn't you want a close shave all the time? I've only used a Merkur 23c long handle.
For the quality and content of your videos the the view count doesn’t do justice.
Man, I thought this razor wasn't any good but now I'm pretty interested in giving it a try. Thanks Matt!
love my supply, I am impatiently waiting for their revamped adjustable offering in february.
I know it is three years later, but, do you soak your badger brush beforehand? Or just wet it and go?
Wet and go
Seems like something I'd try out. I've never used an injector razor.
Nice thorough product review Matt!
Have that razor at first used the number two head on it was too harsh on my face then had to switch to sensitive head and seems their blades was too harsh to use on my face so switched to using blades from Schicks and it went down smoothly for me. Now that razor is in my razors rotations.
First timer here, great video, so I subbed as well, cheers
I really enjoyed this video, thank you!
Kinda defeated the purpose of having durable blades that would last many shaves (IIRC their advertising said a pack of blades was good for a few months)
With the grain was fine (once I figured out the angle), against was so-so but cross-grain resulted in a pretty decent laceration on my fourth shave and that's when I stopped using it.
I just ordered this razor the other day. Love the review. I have hopes for it.
Injectors have intrigued me for a while. I’m going to have to check this out!
Hi, is there anything which identifies a V1 from a V2? Thanks for the info.
@@Bearcwy Many thanks!
@@LEgoiste No problem
The head on the v1 is smaller than on the v2
Saw your vid on the King C Gilette, really considering getting rid of my philips one blade and take the dive into wetshaving
@RazerEmporium I went with the King C Gilette Razer. Is there any soaps that you would recommend for a beginner? been looking at Proraso qutie a bit
@@MrLangz0r I'm not razoremporium but try out Stirling Soap Company. Great quality for a fair amount of money. Its very protective and slick.
