As some who's active in the art community I truly cannot catch a break (I just bought a tablet to start doing digital art 😭😭😭)
It was shocking when all this was revealed in the community. Everyone just really loves to exploit ARMY. Amazing video guys !
And that Ladies and Gentlemen leads us to THE problem: capitalism.
An objection: i followed btsh way before the ga happened. They WERE an ok account. They posted throwbacks and were all around interesting. So armys following them wasn't a sign of stupidity. In fact, several of the shits in this story actually had fun accounts, and many of us followed them NOT bc we are dumbs that follow anyone, but bc they were fun! If anything, btsh became more popular after the disaster in their country.
wasn't familiar with the account before the ga but yeah. Nat mentions early in the video that it used to be a history account before a particular admin made the account shift courses to get more followers. A lot of this has to do with accounts being sold (or just changing admins) and with people prioritizing getting or maintaining lots of followers over actually handling their platform with responsibility, both for the fandom and especially for BTS.
@@Danae_O A huge problem right now is people getting follows fast the selling their accounts. This is why you should always be careful of who you are following and just because someone gets a hit twt doesn't mean they are good or not trying to take advantage of BTS or ARMY. In fact with NFTs that make it possible to monetize twts a lot of shitty people are purposely trying to get engagement on twts about BTS so that they can sell them. It happened a lot after the Grammys situation. People on twt really need to avoid blowing up someones twt just because they suddenly say BTS is cool/good or say something positive because 9/10 they are just trying to take advantage of the fandom. A lot of image accounts (RM photos, Jin photos, etc.) get follows fast and many have sold their accounts after gaining thousands lmao. People just need to think more critically and understand that people online are not always who they seem.
I think that account got a lot of attention during that Mr. Beast situation too. My opinion is that this is a blatant case of a pyramid scheme. They were naive and supported these give aways blindly, possibly saw an opportunity to sell their account and make profit. The GA hosts never clarified anything about their schemes in detail anyways and had this whole community thriving who genuinely believed that such schemes are legal and cannot be disadvantageous or dangerous to them. I saw screenshots of some of them complaining about how they themselves got scammed by whoever was running things from behind the scenes. That's why it's important we keep a watchful eye on these accounts who are able to amass such huge following including many minors.

So the lesson once again is: Social Media is not a safe space. Always thread carefully.
My finance prof was just talking about scammy personal financial planners on sns. It’s so scary how people who are genuinely about seeking financial help might fall into trusting so called advisors who are probably not even certified to practice.
so the moral of the story is: if a giveaway is asking for more then a follow, like/repost or a reply, DON'T ENTER IT
An amazing breakdown of the situation as usual! ARMYs definitely need to be alert because so many people see our impact and try and exploit us. And given how much more our fandom will probably grow in the upcoming years, it's gonna keep happening, so it's better to educate than to do damage control. Thanks for the great video!

Great video and a weird part of ARMY history. Hopefully everyone learns from this even outside of ARMY life. Giveaways should always be approached carefully and anyone participating needs to be aware of what they are getting in to.

That's where you vote for bts. All those awards you see bts winning.. Its the efforts of armys on Twitter. They work hard and they push hard for bts. All those records bts brake.. Those are initiatives made on Twitter armys. And they work hard. There's a reason they are on Twitter. Army on Twitter are a force to be feared. All bts information is made there straight from bhit and all bts official accounts then armys try to spread on other platforms via sns accounts they created to support bts, after they noticed armys on other platforms aren't aware of alot of things bts related nor do they vote for bts or are even aware of goals. Granted there are those on fb that are aware but they arnt as organized or focused. what's the use of being a fan if you are of no use to the artist you claim to love and don't even know when their album is released?
I'm definitely sticking on Twitter. After all they uncovered this scam and will continue to fight for bts in every way that counts. All their charity projects are incredible ranging from disaster relief, to hospital wings. To housing to supporting the elderly. And don't forget the blm funding.. All on Twitter.
You may not want to join Twitter, but the Twitter armys are the power backbone of the fandom. But you can continue supporting bts in anyway you can. Just make sure you get the correct information and are updated like Twitter armys. Keep safe.👍

an excellent video. i feel like there's an extremely worrisome trend happening where people who grew up with social media have less and less knowledge about internet safety while the scammers and people who want to exploit them become more and more sophisticated and able to pass under the radar...

Wow this is horrible. I have twt account and always see giveaways but this looks scary. These accounts are fake ARMY and are using the fandom. They are giving ARMY a bad name.

I've been on ARMY twitter just vibing, I had no clue! I remember seeing the BTS History tweet, even interacting with it! Other's seeing that ARMY clout and using it to exploit us makes me sick!
Hopefully we as a fandom can educate others on this issue. I personally think if BTS talked

Nothing will ever get close to what happened Nov 2018. The worst months on army twt were May 2016, 2020 and Nov 2018. And out of these 3, Nov 2018 will always be traumatizing.

I remember this, I still didn't get over the insults I personally got as an ARMY and I remember logging off of social media halfway through the fight. It was really bad and with this thing I kind of looked in and when you really look at it even a murderer can lie behind a computer and tweet these, they might actually support bts so yes they will get so much followers cuz the 1st important thing in stan twt is supporting the said artist. So probably a really toxic person can get a lot of clout because of the support but then people start realising the acc is anti black, racist, etc. This is what happens in twt.
People might hate twt but I like how twt is just raw, has a compilation of people with different opinions saying them out loud. I can find what is happening from there, not like other platforms where the content is coated.

I’ve been dealing with fake celebrity scammers and imposters that pretend to be BTS and they make me get a Google play card for nothing and it just really makes me upset I’ve been saving up to me because I wanna be able to talk to them I was a jingle ball last year and I saw them I didn’t get to see them perform because of traffic and parking in this really makes me angry 😡

It's very funny to me that people use words like extremists and terrorists but don't even do research about them. I promise you if you search up the definition of those words and compare them to our fandom, it won't even correlate and neither come close.
