Paused the video to say - locs initially get thicker, with maximum thickness kicking in round about the 18 month - 2 year mark) then as the locs grow longer, they do get thinner. Not because they are thinning, but because the remodelling process is causing them to constrict and compact. I hope this makes sense.
OMG..The more I look at your Locs, the more l’m so happy that l made the choice to go on the MicroLocs journey, again l’m about (2) two months into my journey, l just hope they get thicker as time goes on…You are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS…Thank you for sharing your experience, l find it so inspiring with NO REGRETS…Can’t wait to see the next video💕👍
Oh wow! I've been so caught up with life, I haven't seen you in a minute. Your locs are looking amazing for 2 years. And the length! They're officially shoulder length without being stretched. Congratulations! I used to think I wanted to be bra strap length, until I got there and suddenly started feeling the weight of my hair. Chopped it all off, left about 3-4 inches and restarted my loc journey all over again 2 weeks after lol! I don't think I'm cut out for the loose natural life. This time around my goal length is just past my shoulders, no longer. My individual hair strands are too dense/heavy for me to do anything longer. Now that I've experienced long locs for myself, I know I don't want them for me. I love seeing it on others though. Those butt length locs are just gorgeous to look at. Just not for me.
Great update! I live in the Atlanta area and I pay $160 for retie. I am in my 6th month of my microloc journey! Absolutely, no regrets! My mother is not a fan but the more it grows she likes it better! Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely have noticed more compliments as my hair gets longer. I started from 2 inches all around and I’m just starting to get compliments from non family members in year 3 😂😂I still love them
Dear Ifeyinwa, In September I decided that I wanted to have microlocs installed. While I marinated the idea in my head and researched the internet, I came across your youtube videos of your microloc journey. My trip to Lagos was already planned months in advance. Long story short: on October 26th I had my microlocs installed by the ladies from EniBraids and I recently had my first re-tie! ( in the Netherlands) I am very pleased with the results so far and I want to thank you for inspiring and informative video's and 'leading' me to EniBraids. Keep up the good work with your channel! Kind regards, Janice.
I just started my journey on April 5th, so just over a week, and I am beyond pleased with it!! Your crown is absolutely GORGEOUS, and this video is super inspirational. Thank you!!
Yes, washing your hair often helps it to lock faster. The locking process is about hair expending and shrinking, coiling. Remember withe loos natural hair, they take back their form when wet, and getting looser wen manipulated or just bay being dry for too long, their loos they shape. The locking process is all about that process of expanding and shrinking again and again, they're getting more and more tangled, more and more locked
I have seen a lot of micro locs and yours is one of the best I have seen. I'm currently four months in and although I am loving the freedom and the fact that I finally took the plunge after over a decade of going back and forth, I am already thinking about cutting it all off and starting all over again. Mine were established by a guy and he messed up the grid pattern as a result I don't have a defined center part even though I'm more of a side part girl but I just like to know that it's there just in case I want to style my hair in a center part which honestly may never happen. I'm trying to wait until I get to the one-year mark to see how I like them before making a final decision.
Awww I’m sorry to hear you’re not happy with your installation but it sounds like you’ve made a good plan! I hope it all works out for you and thank you! 💕
Another tip for dry scalp (I’m a natural 13yrs, but no locs) is rosemary. I add rosemary in my own oil and, i can say that i not had dry scalp during this time.. In my research (hearing they naturals also complained about dry scalp and i wanted to know why i have never had this issue) I have found that rosemary helps with dry scalp and keeps it away..
I’ve loved watching your journey! I’m 7 months in with my micro locs and absolutely love them!! Thanks for all of your tips as I’ve been using them 💪🏾🎉❤️
Your hair is beautiful! 80 pounds is a great price. In NY the price averages to about $175 which will covert to way over $80. It all has to do with location also, so… Love your videos 👍🏽
Thanks for sharing your journey. I’ve been contemplating micro locs for a few years now. I just came across your channel about two days ago, and just love your hair. lol I believe I’ve made my mind up and ready to start the journey . I’m still contemplating whether I should do two strand twist or the interlock! I think it’s how the ends look for me.
Thank you lovely, I’ve only ever used the interlock method but I think Tykara Ann (on TH-cam) started hers with 2 strand twists, so you might want to check out hers. I think the end result (once your locs mature) is the same 🥰
Your locs are beautiful. ❤ Im on my 4th set of sister locs and I finally got the size i want. Been locked for 8 months now. I also had issues with dry scalp. And I’ve come to realize that i have a a mild case of Seborrheic Dermatitis. Mines isn’t as severe as some people may have it, but i highly recommend watching Rose D Annor (has sister locs) & Dr. Alexis Stephen’s (gives great hair and skin products to use; especially for people of color) I used Rose D Annors hair routine and it really has helped me!❤ I also recommend getting a steamer for dry locs as well.
Your locs are beautiful, lowkey making me think of the possibility of getting them done😅But, I am going to wait and think it through properly...a round of applause for that length😄!!!!!
The action of the apple cider vinegar is to lower the PH of the scalp. Indeed, the PH of the scalp needs to be at 4 or 5. This would help to avoid dryness on the scalp. So you can if you want, dilute 10% of apple cider vinegar in water and rinse your hair with it at the end of a shampoo.
@Ifeyinwa, Thank you so much for your videos and sharing your experience I started my Micro loc journey on Nov 6th and I SO LOVE THEM I have 380 locs and I am excited for my journey
Thank you for the update and congrats on 2 years. Can you kindly share your loctician’s details? I live in London and pay £120 for a retie - £60-80 would be fantastic!
Thanks for sharing, I had traditional locs for over 10 years, then took them out. Had my hair out for 6 months. Then started microlocs last December. My journey very similar to yourself.£80 is what I pay for 4 hours retie in London and that cheap
Hi Ifeyinwa! Watching all the way from Wisconsin. Thank you for the update! Your hair always looks so shiny and juicy, that might just be your hair type but I’m going to pretend that I can get my locs to look like yours by trying the Dr Bronners and the satin scarf😂😂. Love you girl!
Just got my microlocs in April and it will be a year in a blink of an eye. My reties are $85. Even though I keep going back and forth between should have getting sisterlocs I hate the price and my loctician who is SL certified says it wouldn’t look all that different. I love you’re sweater though I hate turtle necks. What brand is it?
Out of curiosity, do you have white bulbs(similar to those that come with braids) on your locs especially around the perimeters of your head with more at the back? If so, please can you share tips on how to get rid of them? I hate them on my locs.
Happy Wednesday fam! Please don't forget to give this video a thumbs up! 🥰

When you swung around I gagged at that lengthhhh. It looks so good girl! I’m queen of simplicity with my microlocs as well so I feel you on that note
Awww thank you lovely 🥰

160 isn’t bad. How often do you retie?
@@jenniesmythe8188 every six weeks
I live here in Alabama, and my reties are $135, the reties here in the states are pretty expensive 🙄
My reties are $215 :(
I absolutely have noticed more compliments as my hair gets longer. I started from 2 inches all around and I’m just starting to get compliments from non family members in year 3 😂😂I still love them
Lol I noticed this with my mom for sure
I’m at the 2 1/2 year mark and feel the same way you do in terms of color. Love following your journey… and your channel in general
Thank you lovely 🥰
Your locs are gorgeous! Congrats on reaching 2 years!
Thank you so much!! 💕💕
Beautiful locs. I started my micro locs in March of this year and I’m definitely enjoying the journey
What do you use on yours when u first started😊 I start mine next week. Eeeekkkk
So happy for you!!! Trust me it only gets better with time!
Congratulations!
I started in March too 🤎🤎 Best hair decision ever!

Time flies for real! I’m so excited for you!
I love your eyeshadow!!
Thank you lovely!
£80 for a retire really isn’t bad, most I’ve found start at £100 and they are not even sister locticians. I’ve ended up just maintaining my own 😭.
Yeah I definitely have paid upwards of £100 before, especially if you need repairs done.
Right. Here in the States, reties are SO much more. So.
Yes
I pay $140

in the US microloc reties start at like $170... it sucks trying to find a loctician.
Awww thank you lovely, you're so kind 💕
Lovely lovely hair. How often do you now retie your hair? What's the schedule like now.
Thanks! Still on a 6 week schedule 😊
@@Ifeyinwa do you intend to stretch out your schedule to 8 weeks, for example or is 6 weeks the rule of thumb?
Just got my microlocs in April and it will be a year in a blink of an eye. My reties are $85. Even though I keep going back and forth between should have getting sisterlocs I hate the price and my loctician who is SL certified says it wouldn’t look all that different.

Thank you, its from Zara! If it's still available online I would have linked it in my description box:)
Concerning thinning question;I wonder if they meant “scalpy”?
Love your locks .... Pls can u recommend locticians pls ... Thank you
Linked in my bio and thank you!
Hello…thinking of locing my hair to e fortunately came across your video. Is you loc two stranded interlocked at the root?
Interlocked all the way x

Sigh...
