    Thank you so very much for this! I'm a bassist of 30+ yrs and just bought a monologue for authentic Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder basslines, so these videos are extremely helpful in getting useful tones so I can focus on learning the tunes. Thank you!

    Many thanks again for this lesson. I now have a super talking growly bass. The upside of being furloughed right now is that its giving me a chance to catch up with some synthesis on the Monologue and Deepmind 12, rather than spending most time on my music time on saxophone and general keyboard playing😊

    Yay! More Monologue videos. But I must say I'm definitely interested in the Volca FM videos. (Isn't it cute how I pretend like you haven't already done the content because I didn't find your content until well after the fact? It's okay, I'm loving all of it and I will be watching for whatever that's worth.) Also I dunno if I mentioned it yet but I subscribed. WHAT THE HELL? Only 13k subs? Oh my goodness, this is criminal.

      I guess i've alredy watched them all! ahahah Just thought about using the filter with high ressonance (just like the third oscilator trick) to make extremely low sounds (just like you used for the kick drum in another video). Do you think i'ts needed or it's possible to reach those low frequency sounds using the VCOs? (Mine monologue is probably arriving in one week but i cant stop thinking about the possibilites! ahahahah) Thank you one more time!

      The triangle VCO is pretty beefy down at the bottom end, but you can always enhance it with a bit of resonance!

      @OscillatorSink  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Uzo keep an eye out on the channel, I'm (roughly) planning to start that series around the middle of this month. FM is a bit 'different' from a sound design perspective but the possibilities afforded by a 6 operator synth are huge!

    Fantastic tute!!!
    I am not criticizing but I would love to have heard a minute or so with what you did combined with a funky drum beat and maybe a bit of high end stuff on something else.
    Please do this for me as I have ordered the Monologue and eagerly await its arrival.
    I wanna see its capabilities in skilful hands. It's a 50/50 partnership.
    Give us a show!
    I really want to hear that work together.
    So many thanks for the education.
    Pete

    tb-303,sh-101,juno-1 all in 1 box.I am triggering this with a axiom 25 for different velocity strikes and there is no delay or dropouts in midi.I am also getting a expression pedal for the axiom and assign to the volume or cutoff for some more fun with monologue.Also plan on sampling my monologue sounds into alchemy and making this monologue osc into a virtual analog poly in my vst then I can apply more modulation.

    Hey there! I don't suppose you could "acquire" a Waldorf Blofeld could you? Pretty please with sugar on the top? Your tutorials are so good and I need a little help with my 'Cherman Box'. Subscribed and liked...

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +La Barone haha, I do keep looking at them - they seem to be amazingly capable and versatile boxes. It's not right at the top of my list, but let's not rule it out. Maybe one day I'll be sent synths to do videos on, that'll certainly free up some cash to buy other bits.... But for the moment I have to buy everything myself and for the moment I'm not making any money out of the channel, so I have to be very picky about my purchases!

    I swear your Shape knob is doing something mine isn't. Specifically, aside from the obvious difference in sound, it looks totally different on the oscilloscope. I'm not getting any of the rectangular plateaus. Your sound is fuller and fatter, I have to turn the shape knob almost all the way to get something similar (and yet I still see no plateaus in the waveform). Not the same, mind you, merely "similar." I just updated the firmware the other day, not sure why they would have changed that but that's the only thing I can think of.
    Normally, I'd either assume I'm noticing things that aren't really there or just chalk it up to how different a recording can sound from my particular setup (I just bought a set of Sony MDR-7506 headphones WHICH ARE FREAKING AWESOME I MUST SAY (I cannot get over how amazing these sound) and I'm plugging them straight into my Monologue while using batteries because I'm sitting on my couch and my goodness, I love this convenience, I would probably play with all of my synths a lot more if they were this easy to use). I can imagine not quite replicating the sound given certain variables but I'm hearing a clearly different sound. It sounds as different as the waveform looks.
    Sorry for rambling, I'm loving these videos! Back to the video!

    Your channel is dope! Question: Can I use Monologue to play another synth via MIDI out port while Monologue is still playing its own sequence?

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm 90 percent sure that the sequencer will output midi so the synth under control will be playing the notes from the sequencer. You could experiment with the "local sw" setting in the global menu (which disconnects the keyboard from the Monologue essentially), but I don't think that there's a way to do exactly what you're asking.

    Really curious for the FM. Never understood programming the DX7, although it sounded really good.
    Great video btw. Which DAW are you using? I have a question on how to layer the Mono.

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Don Segers at home where I do these I use Reaper. In the studio I'm usually a Logic user but Reaper is very good and super flexible.

    • @synriser6742
      @synriser6742 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I am using Logic. Do you record in midi/usb and then bounce the parts?

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Don Segers it'll be a combination of: playing stuff in live; programming patterns on my Beatstep Pro and having it synchronise to the DAW clock; and programming stuff in the piano roll in the DAW. A lot of the time when the part is sequenced I will be making tweaks to the knobs on the Monologue as it plays back to stop things from being too static. Then I'll mix, which is mostly focused on eq, moving frequencies that are fighting out the way of each other.
      And delay and reverb. Lots of delay and reverb.

    • @synriser6742
      @synriser6742 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think of buying a beatstep pro. For reverb I use the Digitech Polara. Good value for money this pedal.
