I love that you spent 20 minutes demoing this patch pack. Also, I dunno if this is well-known or not, but if you're fullscreen on computer, you can still scroll the screen down. I just realized that yesterday.
+Juku9000 I'd love to get one - I had a real good play on one in a shop and it sounds great; people can say what they want about the tiny controls - the sound speaks for itself. But there are a couple of other synths that are above it on my shopping list at the moment...I need a lottery win!
Great stuff! Thanks for all of your work and generosity. Just downloaded all 3 packs. Def going to use some of these patches on the album I'm working on.
Thank you for taking the time not only to be creating patches but for creating and uploading the videos. Am new to synth's and picked up a MicroKorg but cannot get on with the tiny keys on it, saw one of these at the music shop (PMT), would you say this is a good 'beginner' synth ? Have this on my shortlist as does tick all the boxes. Keep up the good (hard) work. Likes & Subscribed, cheers.
+Kev Rees I would say it's an incredible beginner synth - if what you're after is a real, analogue, monosynth. It sounds great, but it also places all of the important sound shaping parameters at your fingertips, so it's great learning tool. I know that PMT also stock the two other competitors in this area - the Microbrute (but you probably won't like the keys on that either - a second hand Minibrute could be just the ticket though) and the BassStation 2 (really great, synth, sounds absolutely killer, good arpeggiator, but can't touch the Monologue's sequencer). Bear in mind those are all monosynth, so one note at a time. If you want Polyphony at that price you'll be going Virtual Analog. There are some second hand deals you can get, a Korg MS2000 or (and these are huge bargains) a Novation K-Station. My first synth was the Novation A-Station (which is a rack mount version of the K) and its a thoroughly accomplished virtual analogue poly, which is an absolute joy to program. I still have my A Station. Would probably only sell it to put towards a Peak. Hope that helps! Let me know know if you have any other questions and thanks for supporting the channel!
Thanks for the reply :) Yes, it's a good old fashioned analogue monosynth i am after, already have a Casio CTK-6200 for 'playing' so thought it would be fun to create patches and sequences, or even rhythm's to help with timing (more fun than a drum machine, plus can get to create some insane sounds, lol). Had a look at the Microbrute but no option to save patches, and yes, they keys are small on that as well but (to me) felt better than the MicroKorg's keys. Think it's going to be the Monologue as the sequencer looks easy to use and the oscillator can be a great learning tool to help see what happens to the sound when tweaking different effects as well as hearing them, which i imagine will help immensely when moving on to other devices. The icing on the cake is the potential to create a poor mans version of Pink Floyds 'On the Run', hehe. Thanks again for the reply. Slowly working my way through your videos to get a better idea of how everything works :)
Did you buy a Monologue? I bought one after talking to OS and a rack mount module developer ( O.Gillet) they both felt it was a great learner synth and I would have to agree. The little oscilloscope really give you a feel for what you are doing to the signals
Hey , thx for the great work. I like all 3 packs you made for monologue but i can only put just one of the molgprog files on the monologue when i try it with librarian. When i select one of the 3 molgprogs it loads them on the programlist window , ok so far but when i try to load the second pack the first one is gone. What am i missing ? Can i drag and drop the files like when you open the preset window ?
So it's a bit of a faff because I don't know how korg turns them into preset packs, so I think the easiest way is to send the patches individually - go to the slot you want and send a single program if that makes sense?
Is it possible to add all these patch packs to the monologue? If so, how do I do it? I have the sound library and all that. It’s just that every time I add a new Patch folder it doesn’t keep all patches - just the ones in the folder I uploaded.
The librarian defaults to sending the patches to the first slots, but you can move them around in the librarian once they're on your Monologue - so make sure the last patches are moved out of the way before sending the next ones.
+Marcus Delre if you mean how to install them - you'll need the USB MIDI driver from the Korg website and the Monologue Sound Librarian (also from Korg's website). The download link for these patches themselves are on my website (link in the video description). If you mean how you can build sounds like this: check out the "let's build" and "Monologue Tricks" on this channel for some explanation of some techniques I've used. Thanks for checking them out.
Oscillator Sink thank you for the reply! I actually managed to figure out with some digging! I’m actually amazed at this feature.. it blows my mind! Do you know anywhere else where I can find/buy these packs?
+Marcus Del Re there's a "Monologue patch sharing" group on Facebook that might be a good place to start. Other than that, searching on some of the bigger music tech and synth websites and forums might turn some up. BUT the best and most satisfying place to find new patches is to build them yourself! So I'd recommend watching some tutorials and start tweaking yourself!
+subjekt Audio there's only the 100 memory slots, but by using the Sound Librarian software (which you can get from Korg's site) you can back up the ones you have, re-arrange the order, upload new patches and so on.
TIL about Sound Librarian! It's amazing how the Quick Start manual or other papers that come with the Monologue doesn't mention its existence at all. Oh well, have been playing around with your patches and started building my own patch library. So much easier to rename and organize with Sound Librarian!
I've had this synth for a number of years and it was my first "real" synth after owning a few Korg Volca units. Maybe it's because I already have a great mono bass synth in the Volca Bass but I could just never jell with the Monologue, I got super bored of it within months, to the point of me half heartedly trying to sell it (unsuccessfully). I came here to find inspiration but didn't find much. I'm not saying your patches are bad they just seem to highlight most of what I don't like about the synth. Maybe I should drag it out and have another crack tomorrow.
Sweet! I'm getting a Monologue as part of a trade, these sound great!
This is your best one!.. They're more distorted.. which is what I was looking for.. Thanks so much!
Agreed, these are definitely some of my favorite patches I've heard made for the Monologue. :)
+Suped_BIGRIG_350mph thank you so much. Really glad you like them!
wow! Not only the patches but some sequenced as well. thank you!
I love that you spent 20 minutes demoing this patch pack.

I'm glad you enjoyed the patches!
These are amazing, you get so much out of this synth. I would love it if you did a series on the SE-02

awesome. you made me appreciate this synth much more than i had.
+Josh Newton glad to hear it!

Awesome! Please link me to anything you use them on - always a massive pleasure to hear them in use!
Thank u! Great patches as always !
thank you for sharing these packs, amazing stuff
+ps49556n thanks for checking them out, hope you enjoy them!
Awesome patches. Thanks for your hard work mate :) :)
+drstupid1 you're welcome! I'm glad you like them!
Thankyou - again! Gigantic thumbs up!
+Groove Q *thumb thanks*
Was Old Ghost (the second patch) named after the Oscilloscope's dance?
It wasn't I don't think, but it should have been!

Very musical!
Cheers buddy!

+Grant82gc thank you!
Some nice patches! Thanks.

Anyone able to step me through how to get these sounds on my monologe? I just got it and am still learning the ins & outs

If I add these patches does it overwrite all existing patches, or add to?? Does mono have extra memory?

+praevius it's a great little tool kudos to Korg for putting it out. I wish they'd put out something similar for the Volca FM...
Thanks so much. I will get the librarian on board.. thanks for informative videos and great patches.

Oh, you're using as a synth?
Naw mate, it's a drum machine: th-cam.com/video/Ti9PAxq2lqc/w-d-xo.html
