Actually hosting this season in school instead of on some grand adventure has brought a more chaotic energy than I think we've ever seen before.
Genuinely missed the school setting when watching D20 Live.
There were so many cool teachers and student characters missing. There’s a charming mundanity about a public school that’s missed, D20 Live just felt more like a regular fantasy adventure.
Also I missed the overall vibe of Elmville, too. It’s such a beautiful parody of suburban life.
And they were literally in a nightmare forest that could spawn buses with arms for legs
@@bearbones7913The fact that I didn’t immediately double-take at the thought of busses in Spyre having legs and OBVIOUSLY not arms says something about the world that Brennan has built here. Idk what but it says something.
I think the inherent safety of familiar locations, people, and schedules are letting them be stupid more often without the constant fear of spending skills and spells that might save a life.
They've always been great but boy oh boy Beardsley has been knocking it out of the park this season
The wet slapping sound of salsa falling from the hat as Kristen says “m’lady” was absolutely perfect
I love how brennan’s like “as a group you need to roll a 40” but then the gang keeps adding more and more spells onto it and he just winds up dropping it, because the visual hilarity of what their spells create is just too good for them to fail it
Suit yourself. I prefer it when there are actual requirements to accomplish things beyond goofy bits.
@@cr820 I mean most of the spells they added would have not added to the 'requirement' (jump helps with practical effect of escaping but it has no change in dex mods) or would likely change the DC entirely (casting fear and causing everyone to panic, or nondetection which wouldn't add to the DC at all but would likely help lower the DC a little)
The whole moment was a goofy bit the DM decided, as they are allowed to do, that while they likely weren't going to make the intended Deception check, the casual partygoers looking for gossip aren't going to stick around after several bombs and a man sized spider go off effectively canceling the roll and passing it for now.
You dont need to persuasion check the Bouncer at a door if the Barbarian punches him so hard his brain turns to soup y'know?

Nah, relying on the luck of the die to hit a number is my least favorite part of DnD. If players are making creative choices that seem plausible (or at least very funny or cool), I'd rather reward that. @@cr820
@@cr820 i mean.. to be fair, for the group to get a 40, they each only needed to roll a 7 or higher each. 40 sounds like a crazy high number but when you have 6 people contributing...
I love the way Brennan describes Kipperlily as a “steel orb of a personality”. I makes me think of where the preppiness ends and the person begins.
And also, how (why?) is she different from Penny Luckstone ?
Penny has warmth and a soul. She loves her friends and wants what's best for everyone in a way similar to Riz just with a different flavor of neuroticism. Penny wants to do her best to support her friends and family, not for herself. Even tho Penny can be snarky and vicious, she ultimately is better off than KLCP because she isn't malicious. She is sweet to her core and will always do things with love.
Yes, very well put. But it's interesting to me why Brennan makes a "steel orb of a personality" with same type-A behavior and even descriptions, as Penny. Meaning - how 2 very similarly acting people can be profoundly different

The best team to ever exist. Kristen does something absolutely Hogwild Batshit Insane and EVERYBODY goes to their spells sheet to MAKE IT WORK
ally's incredible physicality of committing to having the heavy hat filled to the brim with salsa on their head and the hunching of their shoulders as they hold the enchiladas is just the cherry on top to this hilarious bit
Ally's bits this season are wild - the campaign gags, the Cassandra gags and Kipperlily rivalry are incredible

Murph's face when Ally says they try to cast a web is HILARIOUS, but Lou's eyebrows very quickly but slightly going up and immediately going down also kills me LOL

Also the entire gang immediately jumping to Kristen's help was so cute and so funny and so them
It's even funnier because they all went against as fully and readily Fabian in the honey incident 😄
The thing is Kipperlilly keeps trying to compete with intelligence and playing the rules setting her master plan in motion etc but the Bad Kids are simply too chaotically unhinged to play her game every time lmao

I love the theme music kicking in as the bad kids all join in to hype up Kristen it’s so good
I never get over that little aggressive smirk of both Brennan and Kipperlilly being quick enough to catch that Kristen specified that the teacher found her instead of vise versa

They're so deeply stressed out (and sleep deprived, for some of them) that they've unlocked a new dimension of absurd.
Creativity is best found when under the most constraints , also they're level 11 so sanity was never an option
Kipper Lilly Copperkettle is inevitably going to fail whatever the hell she’s planning
Specifically, because the bad kids don’t conform to the rules that Kipper Lily does
The bad kids are chaos for the force of good and friendship (the definition of adventures in spire)
Meanwhile, the rat grinders are in direct opposition of how adventures are supposed to operate
The moment they hit an actual problem like trying to save the world which the bad kids have done thrice now, they will crumble and burn
Murph being the most entertaining background actor in history
The interesting thing is, if this situation was reversed, the Rat Grinders could never pass this check. For all of their heightened skills and abilities, they cannot work together to save their lives, and the Bad Kids solved this by working together without any hesitation

Thanks. I definitely wasn't actively pursuing that look, it just kinda what I'm able to throw together. That avatar - i made in 2020, I really should change it. Don't know what to target though... What type of thumbnail do you prefer?
@@skyphy i like the thumbnails that are more just shitposts but i don’t think im in the majority there, i think what gives it the look is the combination of compiled images of the cast, the bright yellow border, matching bright yellow text w/ drop shadow is a bit buzzfeed (rip “YES!”), a custom background instead of the d20 background,
Again not bad but not really the same sort of vibe as d20, if you’re not sure what to do instead just shop around and keep it in mind when you see other thumbnails of any videos (not just d20 stuff) and consider if it would work with d20,
Also you don’t really have to do custom thumbnails if you don’t want to, i don’t want to discourage you if you feel like it but d20 has a pretty recognizable look by itself
I get it. I do like the color yellow, but there's a lot of thumbnails that are similar to this style. My main takeaway from this whole channel is to learn to use photoshop & stuff, that's why i'm trying to find my style. (i'll try to get better, promise).
P.S.: you might very well be in the majority here with your preferences, if the thumbnails from other dropout fan channels are anything to go by.

When i first watched fantasy high, Kristen was my least favorite character until they renounced helio and then the unhinged fun loving Kristen chilis Applebees came out and this year they were the most unhinged and I loved every minute, can not wait to see our president do their thing for senior year
