- brennan as a dungeon master playing dnd on dimension 20 is so calm and collected, but put him on the game changer show with sam reich and a WHIFF of competition, and all hell breaks loose. but that's when i love him most. (plus we get some fantastic monologues when he doesn't win). here's a compilation of some of his best lines, moments and also him losing it on occasion.

i'm so so SO happy to be posting on this channel again! in case you're wondering, i accidentally locked myself out of this account for a year which is why i didn't upload anything. anyway, long story short, i'm back now! plus my editing has gotten much better lol. i put together this whole video in a caffeine-fuelled 48-hour speedrun because i was so excited to have the channel back LMAO.

Ironically the account replied to another similar comment, and they also said that Brennan was robbed. It's almost as if Sam and the gang planned a heist, and are proud of it.
@@kagesong The whole point of that segment was that Brennan couldn't score any points. They were intentionally fucking with him to make his heart rate spike.
I'm 100% sure that if Brennan had said Siamese Fireback, Sam would've said it was wrong and that the correct answer was pheasant. The point was Brennan being wrong, no matter what.

It's possible to simultaneously not like winning and feel the need to win everything. It's not about what you want at that point.
I can understand for sure, one is about ambition and the other is about compulsion. And then there’s also self image mixed in there.
I for instance am not at all competitive, I just want to do well at things. In something like bowling, this means I can come in last place, but if I’m happy with my score, I’m perfectly happy. But in something like trivia, there’s no marker for success except getting questions right, which is tracked in direct opposition to others. So I usually feel a huge drive to place in trivia contests. If I ever did weird challenges like these games, it would probably be similar.
That’s why I like being a DM. The marker for doing well is that everyone has fun. No competition. Only challenges, which are often counted as a success if I lose them interestingly.

I love how cutting Brennan off in the middle of "god damn it" has become the canonical edit for the Yes Or No monologue.
I think that's how it's edited in the episode. Not sure tho.

The way my jaw and cheeks hurt and I CRY every time I see the bird segment. It is SO funny. The little "Calm down"s, the "That's another chicken." "Really just penguin?" I cannot.
It's especially infuriating when you know that a Siamese fireback *is* a pheasant and if he'd gotten the penguin they probably would have wanted the scientific name or something 😂
The context of the episode makes it even funnier because of how focused Brennan is on staying calm and keeping his heart rate down. He's playing the game in an almost trance like state of disattachment, and then this segment happens and he starts to come off the hinges.
The interview with his mom really cracks the whole case wide open. As soon as she recalls the "I *want* it to be a test!" bit, Brennan's entire life and career flashes before his eyes with that "oooh noooooo..."
Ally innocently asking if they all got crowns fully knowing what would come next was the perfect comedic icing on that cake
Ally is a devious rat bastard with the best possible lines for setting off Brennan
One moment that I feel really shows Brennan's competitive nature is in the Jeopardy episode of Game Changer (I know a lot of people didn't watch that one because it was when they had to record the episodes over Zoom). Basically, Sam outright tells Brennan that he cannot complete the challenge on his own, to which Brennan immediately starts trying to think of a workaround. This prompts Sam to say, "how did someone with a homeschool education become so competitive? You had no one to compete with!" and Brennan responds, "I think you answered your own question! When you don't have competition, you seek it out!"
Finding out that he was homeschooled explains his massive drama levels.
I thought I'd watched all of the zoom episodes, but that isn't familiar at all. I'll have to go hunting for it!
As a homeschooler Brennan being homeschooled honestly makes everything about him make more sense

Both of his guesses were close, the first bird was a type of pheasant and he named a cousins of the spoonbill

I love how Sam just knows that is going to set Brennan off even more.
There are some great CollegeHumor era skits that make fun of Brennan's competitive nature. One about the guy that needs to wins games, his "Defender of the Basic" skits, the Menu skit, and his New Yorker skit stand out most in my mind.

Sam was a PC and mentioned something about D20s editing compared to the other shows on Dropout causing Brannan to have a small passionate speech referring to that episode.

Brennan's very talented mom knowing and exposing just how broken he is in regard to competitions is, as a parent, both very sad and incredibly hilarious.
I remember there was also a college humor skit where brennan and some of the others were doing "ice breaker questions" and brennan tried to "win" then by having the best answers. And im like, this has been baked into the core of his character since his conception with college humor 😂

I do not share his willingness to be ridiculous for the camera -- though I would if I was being paid to do so -- but I will always love how honest and determined he is to prove that he's right. I think the winning is just a bonus past that for him.
I’m fairly new to Dropout content since the change, but I picked up on Brennan’s inability to lose almost _immediately_
