I always end up finding myself back to this video over the years. Still my favorite ASMR video of all time, and came out before anyone knew what ASMR even was.
Thats a nice Rifle. It looks almost brand new. That model has not been imported into the US for a long time. I had one in .223. I wish I had hung on to it. Rare breed. I have a couple of Romanian AKs imported and assembled by Century Arms. And I have one Polish AK thats a home build. They are not banned, but they can no longer be imported. Thanks for sharing the vid. Its pretty cool to see folks in other countries enjoying AKs as much as me here in Arizona.
The Type 56 is actually better than most eastern european and russian stamped AKs. The receivers are thicker and the barrels are heavier. They can sustain more punishment than the Russian stamped AKs.
Thanks for the review in English. Your English is great. I'm impressed, because I don't know any other languages. It's refreshing to see a review of a gun from outside the USA. Everybody thinks the US is filled with gun-crazed lunatics, but guns exist in every country. It's just that fewer and fewer governments allow citizens to have them (yet criminals continue to have them somehow).
That's a good AK. The under folding model is called Type 56S-1. I believe the name is printed on the receiver just below the rear sight. The military version is called Type 56-1. Have you got Swiss SG-90 and StG-57? If I were living in Swiss, I would buy them both. Maybe two of each. One for shooting and one to keep looking pretty.
original swiss sigs are the finest quality rifles around, heavy, but very well made,as for the norinco, dont let the made in china fool you, these are very well made AKs,thicker barrels with tiny serations along the length to act like a radiator and aid in cooling, the reciever is 1.5mm thick as opposed to 1mm which is typical of most stamped AKs,very stark contrast when comparing AK vs SIG550,im a purest myself(keep the wood),nice vid, nice gun
the stock isnt meant to be folded while firing it is just for transportation use for example an armoured personnel carrier you need as much space as you can get inside one of those
with a special permit, yes. but if stored you have to store the bolt assembly and the riffle seperately ina gun safe. Plus you are not allowed to shoot it. so it's really just for collecting.
the wood, stamped receiver (if type 56 akm), circle sight. Differences between akm and type 56 akm. Finish is different, dust covers are different styles, circle sight, vented gas tube, gas tube is larger, circular front sight, akm bolt is blued. The milled versions look like type 3 milled ak-47s exactly, except for their circular front sight.
Because a WASR, like a Saiga AK including most currently available AK's today are NOT standard AK pattern rifles. Meaning surplus AK parts do not fit and are not interchangeable on them. Only Poly Techs, Maadi's, and Mak90's are AK standard in complete form and from the military factory arsenals. That's why!
Dude we have same taste , I have 1 just like your ak , and 1 1911 45acp officer model , I bought 1911 in1995 n ak 3 years ago brand new from an old lady for 400 us , her husband was Vietnam vet , when they ban the import from china he went out n bought it n keep it in the safe , he die so she sold it to me , he bought 198$ , still in the box , just lucky me , I have the same riffle when I was service in Vietnam , love it , some collector offer 2000 but I want to keep it for my son ,
They banned the importation of norinco firearms. Purchase and ownership is legal. I recently bought a Mak-90 straight cut reciever, great shooter. I do love my izmash saiga 308 though. Beast.
Those others you mention are "kits". The quality is based on the person assembling them. I'd rather pay more and have one of the pre-'98 ban rifles completed on a military assembly line than a put together with mixed parts. Only thing that needs to be remembered on older rifles is the milled receiver versus the stamped receiver. The furniture is different IE AKS vs. AKM
sir i just want to ask about the a.k 47 norinco, because here in the Philippines the a.k 47 norinco in the gun store is converted into semi automatic. I want to buy. Is it possible if we want to convert it into fully automatic? I know you know more about a.k 47.
I'm from Switzerland. pistols and riffles are handled the same way. As long as it's single action only you can get it with a permit (no criminal background, takes around a week to get). When you get the permition you can go to the store and buy one gun of choice (you can buy up to three if you apply for it on the permition slip IF you buy them at the same store). There are no laws concerning riffle length, folding stock...
& The FULL rifle is banned, however it is still possible to get Norinco brand rifles made from kits. There only have to be a certain quota of parts replaced with american-made parts (& any part counts towards this)....Norincos are also all over the underground market...only problem is you'd pay 1,200-1,500 usd for one in NYC...but think of the savings, no backgound check, no tax stamp nothing..just cash & carry lol...
yeah but yugos, some bulgys and hungarian amd-65s are like that too. yet nobody calls them copies. Also my mak-90 can accept standard akm/ ak-47 bolt carriers and bolts with proper headspace, standard furniture, standard mags, and standard dust covers. minor fitting is required on furniture but it's like that with ak's. the only surplus parts that i couldn't really put on would be akm gas blocks and fronts sights (minus the yugos) i can add surplus ak-47 gas blocks/ fsb. it has a heavy barrel.
I had a couple norincos in the past. Wish I hung on to them. Never had issue besides 1 nhm91 didn't like hollowpoints. Easy fix though. All ran smooth. Not banned here in the u.s. Just can't import them. now the ones they sell today here are crap or too much money for a good quality one and I would still take my old maadi or norincos over them. Had to drop in because your post said not airsoft...yaaay I hate looking up shit and its airsoft
The folder is not "just for fun". It was designed for troops traveling in troop carriers and airplanes with limited space, not as an option for firing the weapon in that configuration.
sorry about the spam-marked comments that disappeared. TH-cam won't let me put them back in the comments. Fuck this new commenting system goolge+ bullshit!
The type56 was made very high quality during 1950s 1960s, but during the war chinese defense Vietnam during 1970s, the Chinese army found the type56 is not good as the Russian ak47, because the weather in Vietnam is too wet, the type56 get rusted more easy than the ak47, but it only happened in the early model, for civilian use, I don't think that will be a problem
thanks. well it's pretty easy to get guns in Switzerland. you just have to have the right documents. you need an official background check paper (you gotta have a clean one), you then send your record document together with a copy of your ID plus the filled yout weapon-buying-permit document to the state police. a few days later you will receive your papers that will enable you to walk in any Swiss gun store and buy a gun.
Greetings from the US. I have a Type 56s. I'd like to have a folder but they're banned from import and you never find anyone selling theirs lol. How common do you see the blued bolt type 56's in Switzerland?
That's is a beautiful gun. Norinco mak90's (also called type 56) are some of the best ak's you can get for the price. Your gun is a stamped receiver though not milled. The polytech's are the milled ones.
@TabCrusher you get them when you enter your military service.once you're done you can either keep it (costs you a tiny bit of money) or you can give it back.
I have a type 56 just like yours. Had it since early 90s. Left it in VA when I moved to CA. When I go back to VA everyonce in a while, I take it out and shoot it. Mine starts to slam fire after about 90 rounds and shoots 2-3 rounds at a time. Does yours do this?
***** This does occure from time to time. The Chinese trigger system is probably the smoothest you can get, out of any ak...This is another bonus you get out of chi-com ak's....they are simply the highest quality ak's you can get...People that never shot one just dont understand this?
@sylvaticalexpro The Type 56 is just a Chinese copy of the Russian AK. Mechanically, there are no differences (except the once seen here is the sport model i.e. semi-auto, whereas the Russian AK is select-fire). There are minor differences, such as a hooded front sight, and most Type 56s do not have a threaded muzzle, although mine does). Technically, the Type 56 is a variant of the AK, so really there should be zero mechanical differences between the two. Same mechanical = same shooting.
ive searched ak 47, akm and type 56 pictures, they all have circular front sights. I noticed that the tye 56 has a suppressor looking tube at the end of the barrel and sometimes comes with a bayonet.
@failedgovexperiment actually it is not the amount of us parts that it needs to have but the limited amount of forign parts. an "assault rifle" cannot have more than 10 foreign made parts.
if you keep it you have to keep shooting the mandatory shooting events. however before it's completely yours, you have to send it in to disable burst and fully auto capabilities.
I'm not an AK expert but here's my 2 cents. if it was a milled receiver it would have a lightning cut in front of the safety. that's a stamped receiver. it has rivets. what about the triangle mark? what does that say? also that "round thing on the end" is called a front hood sight. it also has a mag dimple for mag wobble. did the 56s1s have that? lol. no matter what this rifle is, it's a beauty. gorgeous furniture
the chinese ones are fully enclosed. and that is unusual for them to have anything at the end of the barrel like that. Sometimes they have standard akm slant brakes though. most ak's have front sights like a U the chinese is like an O
Certain arms an ammo by Norinco has been banned since 1993. In 2003 more items that weren't covered under the previous ban were added to the list. The official story is that Norinco tried to sell prohibited arms to undercover FBI agents. It's also said that they do business with Iran which they deny. But I guess it's more of a we-don't-want-the-us-to-be-flooded-with-cheap-chinese-weapons-and-ammunition kind of a situation...
I've always used the sights on the barrel to distinguish between a Type 56 and an AK-47. Full circle sights? You probably have a Type 56. Semi-circlular would be an AK-47.
If you dont mind me asking, what country do you live in. I dont really know a country, besides the States that allows these types of firearms. Its also called a full cover front sight.
@TheQ3XXX the 550 is better IMO. it's easier to operate the select fire lever (for right and left hand shooters), the bolt assembly stays open after the last shot has been fired, overall more durable finish, easy diopter switching for different ranges (waaaay better to aim with), 2 ways of setting the gass nosle, integrated bi-pod... i don't think we have to talk about precission ;) it' as accurate as a sniper riffle and as mobile as a regular infantry weapon (ok, its a bit heavier hehe)
When fully underfolded; does the stock has lateral play sidewards, that when you push it a bit, it would touch the sides of the woooden front handguard?
wow thats cool man thanks, i talked to a swiss girl who came to visit my sister for two weeks and she told me how the men had to join the army, after that could take their service weapon home. very cool, do they have places to shoot them?
i heard that swiss citizens are issued a sig 550 for free,if so at what age did you recieve yours,if they did that in the U.S. they would be sold for drugs
why do people always say it is a copy or imitation, but never call a wasr that? it is an akm/ak-47 under a different name pretty much. it is just made in china rather than russia.
No. you can buy as many as you like but you need a permission for each purchase. Per permit you can purchase up to three weapons at the same time at the dealer's. But honestly who's going to buy 3 guns together every single time...
@failedgovexperiment aaah I always was wondering about that! in many videos you hear people talking about parts of their guns being american made. So basically when guns are imported they have to be "americanized" to sell them legally? Does that mean that you can't buy an original, unmodified SAIGA riffle anywhere in the US?
Norinco ammunition and arms were banned from importation into the US in 1993 because U.S. Customs agents conducted a sting against Atlanta based importers of Norinco firearms. According to an affidavit signed by two of the undercover agents involved in the investigation dubbed "Operation Dragon Fire", representatives from Norinco offered to sell urban gangs shoulder-held missile launchers capable of downing a large commercial airliner. The prohibition did not apply to sporting shotguns or shotgun ammunition. Our firearm importation laws have changed so much that even if the ban were lifted, these still would not be able to be imported like they were prior to 1993 because the receiver and barrel wouldn't be allowed, unless they were new production made solely for the civilian market, like the Zastava rifles currently being imported into the US. Unfortunately in the US we only have the ones that were in the country prior to the 1993 ban. Certain Russian arms are now banned as well because of the nonsense in Ukraine. However, there are still many other AK's still allowed that come from other countries...
ak47=the second ak made (the first one was the ak46) type 56= an imitation of the ak47 that was (and I still think it is) the most used ak in the world.
@TabCrusher i believe that our Swiss standard riffle is way too good for the average soldier. they are too expensive. basically everyone is issued a sniper riffle without the scope.
@semiautoriflelover dude I wouldn't doubt it. That's the one thing I've seen that says "made in china" that isn't cheap and sucks balls. It is a fuckin workhorse.
@esh325 one of my friends father was using type 56 during that war, that is what his father told him, as i said, that only happened in the early models(1950s - 1960s), after the war, the factory changed metal or something i do not know, but not get rusted that easy anymore.... or maybe they dont clean the gun very often.... BTW, i am a type 56 lover too, you know during the chairman mao's time, everything made very high quality, not like now
Is it easy to get guns in Switzerland because of Switzerland's militia system? I have seen pictures of people in Switzerland walking shopping at supermarkets with assault rifles slung across their backs.
@TheQ3XXX ammo prices are usually pretty high. but there also are some good bargains if you keep your eyes open. if you buy "good" ammo (Sellier & Bellot) they'll charge you up to CHF 620 (!!) for a 1000. but i use russian copper plated steel case ammo with a soft steel core. that's "only" CHF 240. my AK doesn't really care if brass or steel ;)
I have a Norinco Mac-90. Has the spot for a underfolder stock, currently its capped off. With a ugly wood thumb hole stock. I'd like to replace it. But feel because it was a underfolder that I don't have many options. Any suggestions? Im going to fire the weapon before I remove the thumbhole stock, to see if its slanted or straight or welded closed.
Nice rifle and nice vid. I've got the fixed stock version. Mine is plenty accurate. Hell my Norinco 84S is just as accurate as any M4 including my Stag Arms Model 2.
Correction: STAMPED receiver :)
Please make more videos

the best ak on the market hands down
no way them russian ... surbian shit ... norinco builds the best ak and i aint talking semi auto .. full auto they r the best
type 56 hands down end of story
Norinco's are definitely up there in the best, but you can't argue against the Saiga or VEPR.
Serbians didnt chrome line their barrels....
show the other side with the markings???
And norinco firearms are among the best quality of any ak. I also own a norinco 213 tokarev clone which is a tac shooter if ive ever seen one.
The Type 56 is actually better than most eastern european and russian stamped AKs. The receivers are thicker and the barrels are heavier. They can sustain more punishment than the Russian stamped AKs.
They are an awesome AK. One of the first things I noticed with mine was that sweet trigger.

I get crazy ASMR from this video. It's probably the only gun video that has that effect on me. XD

Only thing that needs to be remembered on older rifles is the milled receiver versus the stamped receiver. The furniture is different IE AKS vs. AKM
I love my Chinese ak47, it's a polytech instead of norinco, but it's practically the same. They probably are some of the best Ak47s ever made.
sir i just want to ask about the a.k 47 norinco, because here in the Philippines the a.k 47 norinco in the gun store is converted into semi automatic. I want to buy. Is it possible if we want to convert it into fully automatic? I know you know more about a.k 47.

i heard that swiss citizens are issued a sig 550 for free,if so at what age did you recieve yours,if they did that in the U.S. they would be sold for drugs
why do people always say it is a copy or imitation, but never call a wasr that? it is an akm/ak-47 under a different name pretty much. it is just made in china rather than russia.
i dnt see why you would want to remove it. just fold it in when its not in use , but that helps you with the recoil
No. you can buy as many as you like but you need a permission for each purchase. Per permit you can purchase up to three weapons at the same time at the dealer's. But honestly who's going to buy 3 guns together every single time...
As a offical representative of the soviet people i would like to make the following announcement AHEM "BULLSHIT!"
THATS 1 CLEAN GUN
best AK so far in human history..
SR Media yeah right! Russian made are way better even bulgarian.
However, there are still many other AK's still allowed that come from other countries...
ak47=the second ak made (the first one was the ak46)
type 56= an imitation of the ak47 that was (and I still think it is) the most used ak in the world.
That's is a stamped rifle and not milled. Look at all the rivets on the receiver.
yep, corrected with annotations the day I uploaded the vid!
@TabCrusher i believe that our Swiss standard riffle is way too good for the average soldier. they are too expensive. basically everyone is issued a sniper riffle without the scope.
Very nice video and beautiful rifle!
@failedgovexperiment no, it's not illegal. but there's a ban on new norinco imports.
@Fr0st1989 the easiest way to tell is by the diagonal rivets on the front trunnion means its chinese if its horizontal its european
Could you be able 2 take the under folder off the Norinco AK-47 Type-56? When it is not needed and went needed you accessible it back together again
@semiautoriflelover dude I wouldn't doubt it. That's the one thing I've seen that says "made in china" that isn't cheap and sucks balls. It is a fuckin workhorse.
@aklbruce then why didd most ak-47 found in the hands of the vietmanese in the veitnam war, were not russian ak-47 s but chinese type 56 s?
When the steel stock is retracted, does the sides of it touch the sides of front wood handguard when you wiggle it to? It has bending play somewhat?
@esh325 one of my friends father was using type 56 during that war, that is what his father told him, as i said, that only happened in the early models(1950s - 1960s), after the war, the factory changed metal or something i do not know, but not get rusted that easy anymore.... or maybe they dont clean the gun very often.... BTW, i am a type 56 lover too, you know during the chairman mao's time, everything made very high quality, not like now
It is a stamped receiver 1.6mm.
Is it easy to get guns in Switzerland because of Switzerland's militia system? I have seen pictures of people in Switzerland walking shopping at supermarkets with assault rifles slung across their backs.
uuh...is the slect fire of Type 56 is safe>semi>full or just like orther Russia AK:safe>full>semi?
@2mnyshp haha.....nice come back buddy...norincos are fun to shoot :)
@TheQ3XXX ammo prices are usually pretty high. but there also are some good bargains if you keep your eyes open. if you buy "good" ammo (Sellier & Bellot) they'll charge you up to CHF 620 (!!) for a 1000. but i use russian copper plated steel case ammo with a soft steel core. that's "only" CHF 240. my AK doesn't really care if brass or steel ;)
there's a bubble looking dimple there bud. it's a stamp pressed reciever :) it's a beautiful firearm
+Ethan Dean yep, true. I corrected my statement with annotations on the first day. Cheers!
Their AK's are an exception.
I won't hit you for buying a Chinese 1911. We Americans are just jealous we can't get them for cheap anymore. ;)
@recondobeard
you can buy them inert from norway for around 700 dollars all you need to do are to change the barrel an bolt then you are good to go
It's a stamped receiver. The rivets are a dead giveaway
I have a Norinco Mac-90. Has the spot for a underfolder stock, currently its capped off. With a ugly wood thumb hole stock. I'd like to replace it. But feel because it was a underfolder that I don't have many options. Any suggestions? Im going to fire the weapon before I remove the thumbhole stock, to see if its slanted or straight or welded closed.
looks like your prepared in case shit goes down hill
Stamped receiver, you can tell by the rivets and mag dimple
Yes it is. I corrected it with annotations but TH-cam disabled them a few years ago.
where did you get your type 56? because i`m thinking to get one too
Nice rifle and nice vid. I've got the fixed stock version. Mine is plenty accurate. Hell my Norinco 84S is just as accurate as any M4 including my Stag Arms Model 2.
disagree id say the polytech legend
