That is what happened to me too. Was a lukewarm Christian all of my life. Attended church but still living in sins and had no real relationship with God until God made Himself known to me and I was never the same again. The defining moment of my existence was when I had truly known that I'm loved by my Creator despite of my ignorance towards Him all of this while. I found everlasting inner peace and I'm filled with love for others. I feel like I'm the richest person in the universe even if I'm going to be disabled or homeless tomorrow. Again, I can never be the same again. My soul delights in His presence and I'm grateful to Jesus Christ for never giving up on me and lead me to the Father. Blessed are those who have not seen yet still believe.

I've been born again, I've been saved, my eyes have been opened....no more traditions, my salvation began at 27 yrs old and can never lose it, because its not about my pathetic good deeds , but about Jesus' power over my sins and death. Although I’m not Christian I too experienced something similar with the Creator as a child. I try to be a decent human a do what Jesus, Muhammad, Abraham, Noah (Peace be upon them all) taught which was to love God with all your heart, and soul.

I had the privilege of seeing this in the theater. It's amazing on a large screen with that beautiful music. This movie is a nice speculation because it invites the viewer to be the tribune. Have an encounter with Jesus and you'll never be the same. Happy Holy Week!
Imagine if there was a man like this fictional character who witness Christ and decided to live his life according to Christ. He will be alone but even his solitude would not destroy him but it would serve a purpose to do the works of Christ. I believe that man/person will be or is us. That's the beauty of this scene. I personally had such an experience back in c. 1984. This 'Experience' is NOT necessarily needed to 'Believe' properly when experiencing the Required "Saving Faith" but it's a bonus! Often, this experience comes 'later' in the Walk. Suddenly, you stop and realize that 'you' isn't the 'you' that used to be and never will be again! This Realization or Discovery is filled with at least some amazement at this self-awareness. I'll add this also: For a person to REALLY come to the Understanding that nearly ALL his views and beliefs are either Wrong or way insufficient is labeled a "Paradigm Shift" of Life! That is, you've Learned Something that's turned the table over and a New Life must now start but Start inside your Old Existing Life that is common to Man. The same Job, family and people but it's NOT your Old Life at all! It's a wonderful and grand experience to really understand that the Living God really is your loving and always close watching and by Father! That there is Everlasting Peace between you and He because of What His Son has done for you personally on the Cross! That even yet uncommitted sins will not break this Safe and Everlasting Relationship with the Almighty.

My point is that the Western Church is too fat and happy with too many uncalled and therefore unqualified 'Teachers' all yelling "Hey! Look over here!". Our churches are full of infant Christians all dirtying their diapers. It's a spiritual Nursery while the Pastors are busy building Empires they think are for God but are really edifices to themselves and wonderful Retirement Plans. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sinner and will be in this life although I hate sin. It's the Times we live in. I have a motto and a clear Goal: "Preach the Gospel and Strengthen the saints!" Lots of questions at the movie's end. Does Clavius eventually fish for men? Or, like Mary (Jesus's mother), does he treasure these things in his heart? Does he ever meet any of the disciples again? And what of Pilate? It would be fascinating to see Clavius meet up with Pilate again. It would be sort of like Gladiator, but less violent.
We will never exactly know what happened to him, but the ending made it clear, that he indeed became a Christian and by true literal meaning of the word. He became a new creation, he changed and he "can never be the same". And yes, he would fish for men just by living his life as a Christian and he preached to that man in the cave, when he told him the whole story. This scene just didn't work. You can't pair a great actor with a bad one and expect a good result. The guy just didn't sound believe able with his "do you truly believe this?" line, it came off as forced and flat. Good movie, bad ending sequence.
Well, if I actually see miracles performed and a man truly die and risen from the grave myself I might change my mind about belief. But no movie is going to be anything but a myth story. There is no question that religion is emotion based and this movie pulls the strings. Don't get me wrong I enjoy myth stories but I like Star Trek also and it's future myth. God is not an old 50 ft man in space but something that created the universe. It creates and nothing more. We modern humans ridicule belief systems and leave behind nothing. @@vincentfisher1603 that’s an unfair measurement in itself - the disciples saw and experienced first hand. That’s not belief - that’s a FACT to THEM. It’s unfair at best to use the same faith measurement against those born 2000 years later in a scientifically advanced society.
