Maulik Shah .. This was our first cycling trip. We started our preparation 3 months before the trip. Usually on alternate day I was riding arnd 25 km and on weekends around 60-100 km. This preparation can only help you in getting comfortable with cycle seats. if you are practicing on plain then mountain ride will be a completely different game. But if you are motivated enough then no mountain can stop you :-).
Barr Chan .. Sure. Took the cycle through State transport Volvo bus. They will charge you for this but it's safe. let me know if you need any specific information
Hey. You can get state transport buses from "ISBT Kashmiri Gate" terminal. Price would vary between 700-1650 Indian rupee depending upon what type of bus do you choose. It would be a 12-14 hour journey though most of it would be covered during night time. Volvo buses are comfortable and you could be assured of safety of your bicycle. Apart from that there are many private operators who run the good bus service between Delhi - Manali.
It was our first cycle trip so our gears were very basic. We used Decathlon's Rockrider for this trip and for our Bhutan trip as well. In term of gear we just had spares part, puncture kit. We didn't even had pannier bags.

Hi, we chose to ride on this route during off season. we wanted to avoid crowd and wanted to enjoy the route. you can do this trip in the month of June, July (Avoid later half due to monsoon), Aug (Avoid first half due to monsoon), SEP. June is when most of the bikers do this trip. We were also beginner but we practice for 3 months before this trip. So anyone can do this as long as they don't give up and high altitude sickness doesn't hit. We didn't ride back and took flight back home. We didn't have time and also our goal was met. In my opinion Aug end or early SEP is best time. You avoid crowd, you get easily place to stay at bargain. After mid SEP you may find it hard to get places to stay if local people decide to leave the places and also it starts to begin bit cold. Pick a decent mountain bike and you vl be just fine. I don't think a costly bike will add any advantage in this trip. hope that helps. let me know if you need more information.

community ms . we just kept clothing, food items, bike repairing kit. Manali to Leh is a very famous route and so you vl get enough stay option. We chose not to carry tents n sleeping bags. but if you like more adventure then you can carry that too. Hybrid bike will do just fine. I saw one British person on road cycle. 70% of road is in excellent condition but rest 30% is what would give you hell if you are on road cycle. No need to change your cycle if you have hybrid. About the map, we prepared one itinerary with details of how many kilometers we would ride in a day. Mostly we were covering 40-50km then we would find a place to stay. First few days you vl get hotels but after that you just have to compromise with luxury. I would try to find my last list of stay option during trip.

Train doesn't go till Manali. Best is to take Volvo bus from Delhi. they are comfortable and night journey will be best. Starting point is Manali for this trip. If you are flying to Delhi from any other Indian city, then airlines will charge you extra handling charge. Apart from that no issues.
Travel Along .. Hi for us, total cost was close to 15k up to Leh from Manali excluding any expense on cycle and air fare. Stay at Marhi, Sisu n Jispa was bit costly. Also we were two, so most of the places we paid for two bed.
Travel Along .. For a single person cost should come 1000 per day. but it's better to carry extra cash. you won't get any ATM in between. After Manali you will get it @ Keylong and after that near Leh. So carry enough.
Bro this video is amazing, but it will be more connecting and amazing to see if you break up it into parts(may be 5 or 6 videos) and make it as a series. Just like Vlogs.
@@tonyhartawan .. Pick June if you have no problem with speeding car. I personally won't choose it because June is the most crowded time. As a cyclist you will reach your day destination in evening and at few places you could face problem with accomodation. If you want to enjoy this route to fullest then choose off season. Local Dhaba people and local people will have lots of time to chat with you too.
Off season is probably after Aug. June has some benefit too like you will get lots of helps on road during unfortunate situation. You can also see snow on road on many high altitude passes.

sandeep gupta .. Thanks. We stayed mostly in dhaba that you will get along the way. But at Sisu, Jispa and Lato you will find nice hotel/home stay option. We didn't do any prebooking. We chose to ride during off season because that way we avoided traffic. During off season you will find mostly dhaba empty n staying there is not an issue. You can carry your tent if you want but then you will have to carry sleeping bag as well. I wouldn't suggest this because Manali-Leh is very commercialized route and there is no issue of lodging. Just remember you will have to push your weight. So try to ride lyt weight and enjoy the trip. I carried 10000 mAh battery. You vl get charging point at Marhi, Sisu, Jispa, Lato.
