More insight into Congolese gold mines

In eastern Congo gold is one of the least regulated minerals. Gold mining is accompanied by serious accidents, military violence, child labor and exploitation. More insight into the conditions under which Congolese gold is mined helps companies in their choice to conduct their business in a socially responsible way. In this film, we follow a group of miners in eastern Congo who merely shovel and sieve the landscape for gold. The miners use a new reporting system where violations are reported and stored. This system has been developed by the Belgian research organization IPIS, with the support of EPRM.
