It's SO good hearing from you again! You are such lovely people and I'm glad that you seem content with where you are in life! AND I'm happy that you have chosen to live in my/your country! 🎉❤
Nothing wrong with being ambiitous. At all. It's not a requirement in Denmark not to be. But you nailed it in that we do see as needing to be for the right reasons. Flashing wealth or status generally isn't that - but achieving to what you believe you're capable of absolutely is. And good to hear about Maya feeling the belonging here. - you're absolutely welcome and a positive addition to Denmark 👍🏻

Maja: Nice to have had the oppertunity to have a glimse of your growing up, thx to u and the family. I know that u don't want to hear this, but your parents must be soooo proud of u!
This is my first time watching one of your videos. But must say, you guys seem like the kind of people you’d automatically want to befriend. Nice, reflective and embracing of yourself and your life.

Congrats with changes to you all. I have done some of it too in recent years, cut down on alcohol (not 100% though) and started exercising. Politics.... In November some will have the chance to participate in a Danish election for the first time, Kommune and Region election. Maybe a video then to compare US and Danish local elections, we usually only hear about presidential elections in the US.

I do have a question and it's really just out of pure, personal curiosity :) A bit of background for the question first: you've been here for seven years, obviously, and obviously, you've found the "Young-family shaped hole in the universe" to paraphrase someone I know. You fit in soooo very, very well and in fact, I think you're the foremost example I can think of of genuine "integration". A lot of Danes (more than I like to admit) do not know the difference between integration and assimilation. The former is, of course, fitting in, getting along with people, enjoying local customs and being a part of life in general, respecting the culture where you are and so on and so forth. All things you very, VERY clearly do exceptionally well. Assimilation would be "becoming Danish. Completely and totally and preferably in half an hour or so, without retaining aaaany links to or customs from your former home" ... which in my opinion is a pretty nasty thing to demand of anyone, and thankfully this is NOT what you've done. Thank goodness. HOWEVER ... your videos are still in English after seven years. Now, don't get me wrong at all. Danish is a horrendously awfully grotesquely and nastily difficult language to learn how to speak, I absolutely get that and acknowledge that. By some metrics, it's one of the hardest languages to learn how to speak fluently in the world, because of how different it is from its written form to its pronounced form, not to mention our linguistic tendency to snippet off all the endings of the words and therefore making any spoken sentence one long blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahpunctuationblahblahblahcommablahblahBLAH! Y'know ... basically using punctuation and commas as an excuse to breathe in, and otherwise having NO BREAKS in the stream of sound. So yes, I get how difficult it is, and I've known native English-speakers, myself, who lived in Denmark for twenty years or more and while they did speak Danish, their accents remained as thick as a Canadian redwood (not that this was a problem, mind you). But here's the question at long last then: do you still speak English in the videos because of viewers from "across the pond" in the US, or IS it because it's hard to learn how to pronounce our peculiar language? There's no blame in this, at all ... as mentioned, I fully understand that Danish is a nightmare to learn. I'm simply curious about it, since I know you did have a few videos in the past where you tried in Danish and I mean ... Maya is attending Uni and becoming a teacher, if I remember correctly? Her Danish is spotless! If it's due to the language being a rotten challenge to learn how to speak, would you then say it's at least understandable to you, even if it's hard to pronounce?
So it's a bit of both but the decision to continue creating content in English is, indeed, mostly because of reach. Even though our viewers are largely within Denmark, we can't guarantee that those viewers are Danish speaking. Speaking in English allows us to have a broader audience both here and abroad. The other reason is that we are all in different places with our Danish. Maya is fully fluent, I am conversational, and Josh is still learning. So, even amongst ourselves, it would be challenging to have a conversation fully in Danish. Maya and I do speak Danish with each other sometimes for practice. I can speak quite well, actually, but I often struggle with listening so that's something I'm working on this year. I can have conversations about daily life but Im still learning vocabulary for other parts of life so that's why listening is hard. I also still tend to speak English at work because of time constraints. None of us has time to listen to me struggle in Danish except maybe at lunch. I'm often in back to back meetings with global teams so English is just the best to work in. We'll get there eventually! Miranda

I am aware that you don't want to go into politics. Im sure you found out it is pretty difficult to avoid in Denmark. Having said that I am aware that my own oppinion about americans have changed to the worse lately. I am actually aware about it, and quite ashamed to admit it. Since Donald Duck became president I have begun thinking about how many people in the US are not sceptic to misinformation and fascism. How easy a people is to deceive. How little trust and respect there is for democracy. It is of course me being unreasonable and there are so many wonderfull americans. But it really scares me that I suddenly have these thoughts. My oppinion has been influenced, changed and my prejudice seems to have grown the wrong way. I am not myself anymore - I have become more intollerant. I kind of feel, that this has been imposed onto me? I am not very romantic or naive, but I would like to roll back time just a little, to where we had mutual respect. By the way, thank you for your wonderful insights and way of analysing both our societies. To me you have a sound openminded enthusiasm and also reasonable critisism of Denmark. The unreasonable Dane.
It is a little unhealthy to hang around with people who are similar to you politics and viewpoints and do not push you in your thinkings. I have a feeling that you know that.
It's not personal, and I'm not trying to be disparaging, but can you even speak , without saying "like" like 20 times a minute? . It would also be a fantastic life-changing contribution to your language! I know that danes do that too. Thanks for the honest contribution to Danish culture! I hope this was a constructive criticism!

Especially the more polarizing the topic is.
4 years with Donald T. What will change?
Thank you for reminding us that not all Americans live by the Trump doctrine. We have friends. Yea i know but the elephant needs to leave the room.
no politics 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What are yiu talking about, 48-49. You are still young
It is a little unhealthy to hang around with people who are similar to you politics and viewpoints and do not push you in your thinkings. I have a feeling that you know that.
Giv os / give us the thoughts on trumps troublemaking against denmark , give the american danish view "could be much wanted ;) "

How the US is transforming Denmark in 2025.

Sorry, but Diet- something isn't healthy at all, according to the latest tests!
Så er det jo nok derfor han er gået over til kun at drikke VAND, mon ikke?
