Personal anecdote time : when I was studying music and musicology in university, my then fiancée and I got everyone we could into this movie because of the moment where the protagonists and the trappers fight about music theory. This was hilarious to us because it dealt with some actual theory and helped us understand some of the basic stuff thanks to the reference. The bad trapper song was somewhat of an anthem for the fans in class. It became a rite of passage for our new friends from uni.
I love this movie to the bone. It's still my favorite Parker / Stone production.

I love how you mentioned Parker and Stone’s screen presence. They both have an exuberant amount of charm that Seth MacFarlane tries so desperately to achieve outside of his voice acting. I remember first seeing them in the Fireside Chats from the initial VHS releases of South Park and I never realized they did the voices for the show until BASEketball came out. Ever since then, I looked forward to seeing their introductions to the episodes that later evolved into their audio commentaries. I was quite sad when their latest season didn’t include any of that. It was like one of your best friends for decades ghosting you. I know they didn’t look forward to doing those commentaries but I sure did.

Its kind of fun seeing this early work from Parker and Stone. Parker is a pretty decent singer. It all feels very genuine and you can tell they all have a lot of fun while they are doing the scenes. In a sense the movie if it were a character on South Park would be Butters Stotch.

Others have said this before, but ill do it anyway:
While it's always hilarious to see the snob get unjustifiable angry at some shitty movies, I do really enjoy watching him review movies that brad actually likes, it's nice to see his critical mind go into detail as to why he likes the movie.

I’d love to see Trey and Matt return to a live action movie. They were pretty good actors and had screen presence. I heard they were meant to do a Book of Mormon movie.

Holy shit I can't believe Cinema Snob did a review on Cannibal the musical. Me and my mates love this movie.
And yes, as soon as Frozen came out and everyone was talking about a song about building a snowman all I could think of was this movies song. Infact I still haven't bothered to watch Frozen so at first I thought everyone suddenly discovered Cannibal the musical and was quoting that song. And wondered why they look at me funny when I chime in "we can build him tall. We can build him not so tall."

How is it terrible now? I mean, yeah, the replay South Park for most of the day, butchered Futurama repeats by removing scenes WITH JOKES IN THEM to make room for more commercials, sometimes The Daily Show isn't funny (depending on the subject matter), and now I think I see your point.

I remember seeing a screening of this along with The Toxic Avenger. Lloyd Kaufman himself was there. One interesting bit of trivia he mentioned was that Trey and Matt wanted one of the major studios to distribute the movie but none of them accepted. Troma was their last stop.

Gotta say, this is much better than Paw Duggan's review. Throughout his review, I couldn't tell if he actually liked the film or not, he barely said a thing about its history, which is shocking considering how thorough he often was with that, and he even kinda ruined 'When I Was On Top of You' by explaining the joke and treating it like it wasn't clearly intentional.

For next year's Musical March (in September) you should check out "Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire", it's a cockney musical about snooker and has an excellent performance from Bruce Payne.

Hey Gremlin, if you live near Chicago you should see if the Annoyance Theatre is still doing such classics as "Manson: The Musical" (breakout hit: "I want Charles in Charge of Me") and "Co-ed Prison Sluts" (hit: "Hey! We're in Prison!"). Sound good?
