    Interesting stuff. Bass radiators are strange things, they somehow improve bass despite being phase inverted. I guess they still move some air and it helps them being on the back, I wonder how well it will work.

    The idea of putting bass radiator in a speaker box sounds excellent. I would rather use one big base radiator planted from within so that high volumes doesn't pop the radiator out.
    Also you can paint the back of the speaker as black. That would look cool :)

    Brilliant, with the bass reflectors! Looks ok to me. You gonna be LISTENING to them, not scrutinizing the appearance thereof! Sometimes, I close my eyes, under serious listening, to depthen the experience. 😋

  • @braydenhancock3907
    @braydenhancock3907 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The idea is that by the time that the air accelerates the bass radiator it is in phase with the speaker, so at higher tones it barely moves because of little acceleration and at low bass it moves a lot because of high acceleration time but it at that point is reverse phase, kills bass below resonance but it can be lowered by adding weight to the radiator. But again makes the highest bass die off faster. You could in theory add multiple different weight radiators but that’s a bit of effort

    Those 6 x 9 boxes have really small airspace. 6 x 9 need quite a lot of airspace. I use just over a cubic foot for each one, and porting tuned to 50 Hz. Pretty good all rounder bass sound, though a bit boomy on some material. You would use similar for a passive radiator enclosure, although a pair of 2.5" wide x 8" long round vents per speaker was enough without taking up too much room in the box, that a passive radiator was obsolete.
