  • Today we are working with my Neofinetia falcata orchid and return a bit to one of the previous setups I had in the past: the sphagnum moss style!
    ▼▼▼More info below!▼▼▼
    The sphagnum moss setup works well in my environment, but I need to change it every 1-2 years, so not a lot of orchids will be in it. The Neofinetia just looks good in it though :P This is the brand I am using besgrow.com/pr...

    Watering is not difficult in this setup, in my warm environment it really isn't something I need to be very careful with anyway. This is a way to water Neofinetias in moss • How I water Neofinetia...

    Thank you for making this. I just tried this, but used some fishing line to do a light wrapping. Made sure there was a hollow area by putting a dibbler up through the drainage hole in the pot. I actually had a pretty Asian ceramic pot that I think looks pretty good. End results - not as up out of the pot as you and others show, but I'm going to give it a try and see how the plant does. Since it was way too wet, and putting out new roots to make up for the dying ones, it can't do much worse! My variety is Ascofinetia Moonlight Firefly. Maybe now it will flower. Thanks again! :)

    Hi Dani (? Sp), yours are one of my favorite videos. I’ve learned so much from you. Not sure if you’re aware, but there’s a terrific video on potting neofinetias posted by Botany Boy. He lives in Japan and has a huge collection. If you haven’t checked it out I’d encourage you to look it up. I used his technique and it worked perfectly. Also, I found really inexpensive plastic traditional neofinetia pots on eBay. They were shipped all the way from Japan, but postage was nominal. Please keep posting. I look for your videos daily!

    Hi danni, I love the look of this....... do you think it could be achieved with other orchids that produce aerial roots?

    Good job! Yes, it's art. The Neo guru in my Orchid society also breaks the bottom out of the clay pots. Idk if necessary in ur environment, just a "know it all" comment as Zane would say. Lol. Happy growing. Xoxo

    Danny. Great idea even if you’re not doing a kokadama, but repotting with spagnum moss. Thanks.

    Yummy😍😍 hahah I LOVE everything about this vid - the cool music (which goes so well with lil Neos haha) & the Neo of course 😍😍 I have 5 varieties now got a few from Orchid delux I got the one with pink root tips, it is so cute and it has pretty variegation on the leaves as well which I did not see when I ordered it😍😍 it arrived with green roots, I placed it in my vanda pot literally sitting almost bare root on my vanda roots haha and it recently started growing 2 pretty pinkish magenta root tips !! You should get it Danny :)

    This is kinda how I pot my orchids in moss, I usually leave the middle of the root mass empty because I'm worried about the moss being too wet for the orchids

    You did a video a few weeks ago about your masdevallia orchids and I found a way that this one person was growing them. He was growing them in a mini fridge that he made into a perfect growing environment for the cool growing orchids and he could control the temperature. I thought that it might help! I have pictures if you would like me to send them to you.

    I wonder how one would go about flushing out salts in the kokadama setup without messing up the moss?

      Maria Rodriguez, so she’s lost all her leaves right? How did she die all of a sudden? Does she still have roots?

    • @MariaRodriguez-zo2hv
      @MariaRodriguez-zo2hv 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maya Aguirre
      Not all of a sudden...
      Within time she lost her leave.
      She has plenty of thin roots.

    • @mayaaguirre1730
      @mayaaguirre1730 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maria Rodriguez, she have a dried up crown? Is it Mushy to the touch? When you move the roots do they snap? Are they plum and green! If it’s mushy, brown and has dried up roots she’s dead.
