Really? I feel like most live bands actually make their bass WAY too loud and it distorts everything else. For me, this balance is awesome specifically because the bass wasn't allowed to take over.
Chords. Its about chords. I started to notice lot of bands that have their guitarist play lots of chords instead of just riffs the whole song tend to have their bassist heard more.
This and Forget Not were basically nonstop on loop in my headphones during high-school. The dialogue between clean and harsh vocals really mirrored my inner monologue at the time.
He's a fantastic vocalist and has evolved a lot over the years. A lot of harsh vocalists get worse over time, he sounds much, much better than he did on The Aurora Veil
There's about 30 seconds cut out at 0:28 because some guys were yelling at Tim "show us your tits!" And Tim stopped and said something like "hang on I'm trying to compose myself here" 😂
I still remember BEGGING people to check out this band in 2007 and seeing a handful of small shows to a few hundred people in Melbourne and Brissy. Everyone I knew who also knew the band would spend forever ranting to literally anyone who would listen "check out their myspace! check them out on youtube! i can burn you a cd!". It's so great to see that they actually blossomed into getting the success they always deserved

I love this song so much. I don't even know what the lyrics are about. Probably absolutely nothing to do with how the song feels to me. The absolutely FLAWLESS interplay between dissonance and harmony, the use of counter tones in xenoyr and tim is incredible. One half, absolutely angelic, the other half, pure demonic. Violin sections play the part of harmony and balance. Metal breakdown sections play the part of discord and chaos and dissonance. The composition is set up as if the two are battling it out. Musically, the song is a fucking masterpiece. it feels like a musical depiction of the biblical fall in heaven.
Love from Brazil, without doubt one of my favourite bands. The emotion you guys can transmit in your music is outstanding. Specifically Pyrrhic, which without looking at any lyrics or necessarily understanding the lyrics right away, I knew exactly what to feel and how the events in the song were passing by. No band has the same sentiment as this one, and for that I am really grateful. If one day you guys come to Brazil, I WILL be there! 🤘

There's even a whole "subgenre" in classical called "new complexity" that primarily emphasizes on pure technicality to the fault of Musicality. I would say an honorable mention is "Sorabjis- opus clavicembalisticum". Even though it's a solo piano piece it does require over 4 hours of continuous non repetitive complex playing and it has alledgedly been performed by 20 people.
I saw NeO in Helsinki 5.5.23. This is almost identical to the Helsinki performance. Amazing. concert. I loved every moment of the show. Thanks guys! Great music. 🤩

Listening to this and to one of your older live performances of this song i can see just how much better you’ve become at what you’re doing (you have always been one of the most talented musicians atleast in my opinion) and also xen has become a much deeper vocalist which is unbelievable to be honest
