A terrible mess. I know this area well. More of it could go in a few weeks as the weather has been exceptionally bad this year. The tea room at Smugglers Haven is only just hanging on and might not last long. It's so close to the road too - another issue.😭
I know the road like you do and wonder if the authorities might now shut the road for good. That would be a shame but as you have said the road is close to the landslide. There wouldn't be anywhere else to build a road without huge cost and demolition of the downs. Poor old Ventnor. Just watched a professor from Pompey university saying how bad the cliffs are. Many years ago I and a couple of friends used the path along that bit of the cliff to walk from primary school (St Wilfred's) back to Shanklin. I loved it . Especially devil's chimney which I have heard has also been effected.
This was always going to happen those properties and many like them should have been assessed many years ago and never resold Blackgang chine was condemned. To the sea Many many years ago ! They even had a site to go to in the 70s !!
