    It never ceases to amaze me how people think they can beat the tide. THEY CAN'T!! We were hearing of so many people, and families having to be rescued because of the incompetence of the drivers inability to read the tide times. Perhaps if they had to contribute to the rescue services for getting them back on dry land, they might think twice.

    And that suddenly reminds me of a very beautiful song from 1978 .. Lindisfarne - Run for Home

    Hi Amsterdam Taxi sharing friends from Holy Island! We shared Gordon's cab with you a few weeks ago. Glad to see you are back home safely and hoping the car damage was not too costly. Great job on this video! Our best to you, Nora + Mike from the US!

      Yes! Nice! We didn’t have much time to make cool private vlog. On the account of WaldNet there’s the official one with English subtitles as well. We didn’t have extra costs so don’t worry about that! We only drove once the cause way, next time we are going to walk 😀

      We do have in the north of Netherlands also islands and nowadays we have to dig each day to make the ferry float. This idea would be outstanding but in our country the islands aren't semi islands like Holy Island

    Great little interview, nice guy. I love in UK, know about but never been to the place. Never ceases to amaze me how people don't understand cars do not turn into boats or subs like in James Bond 🙄

    The line of posts you can see in some of the shots marks the walking route across the sand. It's about three miles and takes a couple of hours - walking across wet sand is not as easy as walking on pavement.

    • @JanJelle
      @JanJelle  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Indeed. I saw a lot of people doing it. You mean the poles in the sand / mud

    we almost broke our engine there when the tide was going out because we followed a van who got bored waiting.
    I am sure the car moved slightly too with the current. the car was a white MG Maestro :)

      Good you did survive! We had a accident as well but not below sea level. 100 meters ahead

    I only live 50 or so miles down the coast and am amazed to learn that the road/causeway was only made in the late fifties....
    I always imagined that barriers and lights were resisted for Holy Island for aesthetic reasons, the area being an AOONB.

    What about building a bridge?!

    • @JanJelle
      @JanJelle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a small bridge above the channel but it will flood when the sealevel rises. It’s quite a distance, the whole way

      You drove there in this video? Fun part of making our videos, we hit a block on the road and we had to do everything without a car. The people of the island did drive us once up and down. So that was great to make a few shots

    The only bit of road in England without pot holes 🤣

    A barrier would be an inconvenience to the man on film but it might be a lifesaver to people who don't recognise the danger of cross over or delaying their stay on the island. What will it take to think safety first?

      Pandering to a few idiots per year who don’t research their travel plans ?!…. “ Hey I’m going hiking up Snowdon ( Yr Wyddfa) in trainers, no backpack, cos I’m fit and I’ll be back in a few hours”… then find the weather changes, your phone has no reception….
      No sympathy … and well done to the locals.👍

    No pot holes though and even better you get a lock in. Even better is no rubber dinghy’s with unsavory people turning up announced. Ok so you have a pub right then all you need is a chippy a pizza delivery.
    Then to cap it off a donna van. Life couldn’t be any simpler

    For the simple reason that beautiful place, so full of great history has been spoilt. I always dreamt as a child I could visit there for the history and spiritual significance but it's been destroyed now. Commercial bread and all that sad bullish
