I wasn’t aware of a weight rule? As far as I understand local Sunshine Coast law states that a drone of any size can’t be flown from council land without an approval. Which for commercial operations this should always be the case anyway. Should always take off and land from private land. But I can’t find the information about the law your referring to about weight. Could you share the link to the law?
@@ttamblyn hey ty here is some direct information I got from SCC today , Good afternoon Scott,
Council is in receipt of your enquiry regarding the use of drones from council-controlled land.
To launch a drone for commercial purposes from council-controlled land, a commercial low use/low impact- other permit is required. An application form is attached. Please note the following in relation to any permit issued:
The Permit Holder must provide Council with the operators Aviation Reference Number (ARN) , Remote Pliot Licence (RePL) and Remote Operators Licence (ReOC). Must provide council with the serial numbers of any drone or other RPA, associated with permitted activity Must ensure the operator of the remotely piloted aircraft or drone is aware of and understands the full rules contained in Part 101 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations, and ensure that all conditions listed therein are adhered to at all times. Must ensure that the launching and landing of a drone or other RPA from council-controlled land, is consistent with CASA flight restrictions Must accept that approval to launch and land a drone or other RPA from council-controlled land, does not imply exclusive use of council-controlled land. Accepts that the drone or other RPA associated with approved activity, is not permitted to be used in sports mode while undertaking the approved activity.
For recreational use only:
Under Local Laws - No.1 (Administration) 2011 the following activities it is not permitted in any local government controlled areas or roads without approval: launching or landing a model aircraft or drone weighing more than 500 grams or a remotely piloted aircraft weighing more than 500 grams this does not include kites or balloons.
@@reignscottdroneimagery thanks for the info. this isn't that surprising as we shouldn't be taking off from council land for commercial ops. But the 500g is interesting.. so provided your under 500g you can launch from council land is the way I read that? Clearly that don't do much about it though..
@@ttamblyn correct and they do have a permit process for commercial but it is unclear if it relates to single sites or all council land, my reason for diving into it is more to do with getting stock imagery around the area where I would ideally prefer to use the mavic 3 over the mini 3 pro but it would be tedious to have to apply for permits for every single location , especially if I took a day to visit multiple locations , so currently just using the mini 3 but hopefully I will get a answer if I can get a more wider ranging permit to be able to do landscape stock imagery stuff at various areas within council boundaries, certainly complicated if every australian council adopted its own rules like this , hope one day its more uniformed especially for REOC operators , where the assumption is that they are not a risk or nusiance to the public and safety
good night! besst picture-goodbye!, fellow,
another good episode , ty. how do you go with the sunshine coast council laws regarding post 500 grams usage?
