Hi, and yeah. It's metal pickup so of course it's compressed because it's high output, but also tight sounding and has twangy character almost like tele, or at least when using both pickups together.
Hi. Don't have 85 anymore but what i have hear from some videos here youtube i think i like 81 still more. These days i have jackson j50bc in bridge + esp mm04 boost.
@@kuitaristi3003 people who have tested say the 24v makes a bigger difference, but maybe still something you wouldn't enjoy. Sometimes I like the compressed sound, but sometimes not. It's more a feel thing that sound IMHO. The feel makes you play differently, because of how the guitar feels under your fingers. Personally ,I tend to like the recorded sound of EMG almost every time, but I much prefer the feel of passives because I like to hit the strings at wildly different pressures. With EMG's, it makes little difference. A lot depends on the riffs I guess, but in the end, EMG is more consistent recorded.
This is the first video comparing the mod to the default where I could definitely hear the difference. Awesome video, man! \m/
Thanks. Difference was so little so i switch back to 9V
@@kuitaristi3003 Yeah, 9V has that raw edge sounds metal af.
People complain about the 81 being compressed, but that's how it's supposed to sound.

Put the 85 in the bridge, for better sound. My LTD has only 22 frets.

Whenever I get some new strings I plan on trying the 85 in the bridge position and 81 in the neck. Have you tried that out?
Not yet because i think 85 gonna be too soft and loose to my taste as bridge pickup what i have read and heard.
You have some weird phase issue in the audio
What kind of? To the 18v parts i forget reverb on, but i don't think meant that?
Now 24v! 😅
I was curious about 24v mod but then i didn't see reason to try it because i liked 9V more than 18V so i think that, i don't care 24V

@@XChristianNoirX Yeah i think also that it's more feel thing. I like how EMG 81 is heavy and brutal but sound wise i just like passive more.
